After finishing my morning chores I log on WoW to remember I logged out in Storm Peaks. Well, that's ok. Gretta still owes me a bear mount after. I get my quest and start to fly over to the cliffs when 'AWWWOOOO' Skoll is up. Well ok. I've found a few Spirit Beasts and have come to love rehoming them since I have them all. I did a /who to discover no one was in the area so I took my time and went on the wow site to start checking out the hunters that were on. After looking through most Horde hunters over 80 and not seeing anyone who could tame Skoll I mentioned to my guild he was up. The other hunter in the guild already had Skoll and one of our warriors joked about killing him. I signed off and made an Ally toon, hoping to find a little more luck on the other side.

And I did. A night elf hunter I looked at seemed promising. I explained to head to Storm Peaks and I'd keep Skoll frozen for them. I signed back on my Horde to be greeted by my two guildmates wondering where I was. I explained I had an Ally coming and that was it. The two couldn't have THAT happen. The other hunter wanted to mess with the Ally but the Warrior was now set on killing Skoll. I told them multiple times to back off, to leave the hunter and Skoll alone while I had him frozen. My guildmate hunter showed up first and went into camo, set on messing with the Ally. The warrior came, saying it was time to end this. I warned him, if he killed Skoll I would leave the guild.

Seeing on how I am now sitting in Org without a guild should tell you how it ended. The warrior attacked the beautiful wolf, he fell over dead, and my heart broke. I couldn't believe it. My own guild...Plus EVERYONE who plays with me knows I'm the most serious pet hunter there and have told them multiple times Skoll isn't part of the achievement and if you find him, home him. I'm as big a Hordie as the next but when it comes to pets as long as they go to a home, I don't care who gets it.

So after a '...' and 'GOOD BYE' from me I simply quit. They thought I was joking. I got a whisper from the other hunter saying 'are you serious?' which was simply replied to as 'yup', signed off and with a heavy heart, had to tell the other hunter that my ex-guildies had killed Skoll with some major apologizing. The Night Elf was cool but disappointed. They were just getting a port to Dal. But there wasn't much I could do.

I got some whispers from the hunter and the warrior for a little bit longer. The hunter told me I was there only hunter friend and that they'd help me look for Skoll again. The warrior just apologized but if they wanted to keep me they would have listened. I feel bad since I love the guild leader with all my heart. I help her get Loque. And the guild had fallen on hard times, loosing a lot of their core raiders and now, just lost their best hunter.

But I'm sorry. My first taming grifers were people I called 'friends', and I just couldn't stay after that. I'm a hunter first, raider second. They all knew that.

I'd say that was just. I think its nuts that people do that to grief others, regardless of faction.

I'm assuming you're on a PVP server, so theres a bit more griefing against the other faction, but this doesnt make it right at all. If he was your guildie especially he should have listened the first time you said "please dont".

Just overall, what a dumb$$$. seriously.

The hunter was a moderate tool for wanting to mess with them too. Not as bad, but maybe worse since all hunters should understand about getting "rare pets".

Although I can understand the motives of the OP, and am impressed on the way he handled it, killing a mob or a player on a pvp server can hardly be considered as griefing, imo.

umm Bastor I think it is considered griefing when they know someone is coming to tame it, andh ave the sole purpose of killing the rare..
if thats how it is on a pvp server I am soo soo soo glad I am not on one.. though sometimes I wish I was.

I am on a pvp sever but there was no one around. Storm Peaks is a ghost town, specially in the morning. He knew I home rare pets. I have homed a few Northrend rares simply because no one is around. Besides, he was in Org. He took the time to get all the way out there to kill the rare even I said multiple times to bugger off and leave Skoll alone. We are the same faction(Horde) and used to be in the same guild(because I left right after this). There was no point to killing Skoll besides to be mean so ya, I see that as griefing.

Sasrei- Ya..I'm about done with my sever sadly. Just need someone to help me transfer my hunter off so I can go play with some other friend on another sever.

That would make me sick too. People who are meant to be your friends, no less : / If they have no respect for you and are willing to hurt your feelings and screw up your effort/time spent just for their own amusement, they don't deserve you as a guildmate.

Incidentally, it definitely is griefing. Ganking a player is one thing--even camping them--as you get honor out of it, so you're doing it for a reward (no matter how debatable). Killing a rare pet that isn't part of an achievement just because you don't like someone's faction and/or get amusement out of it is definitely griefing--by definition, screwing up another's gameplay with no reward bar "lols."

That warrior sounds like a jerk : /

He's not a bad guy..He just has no respect for hunter pets. Sadly, not a lot of people do besides hunters. )=

I have someone in my guild that likes to do that. He actually said 'I love killing rares and watching hunters cry over it' and I was infuriated. I'm an officer and I informed the GM. Sadly, he's still in the guild but he got a final warning to straighten up or GTFO.

No, US Crushridge but really, nothing is keeping me on the sever anymore. So a good friend is gonna help me transfer over to Boulderfist, where some friends play. I think I'll be happier playing with them then sitting in Org doing nothing. )=

EU Crushridge is one of the worst realms ever, flooded with italian players that think it's an italian server only because they advertise that on forums and sites.

I think it is awesome that your willing to set aside the whole ally vs horde thing and help fellow hunters.
Kudos to you!
I have had some griefing myself from my own faction (horde), and screwed over by people I thought were friends, but also have made friends with ally hunters and now I help them look for pets they want talking via battlenet accounts.
I never got into the whole horde vs ally thing myself.
I consider myself to be "neutral" and will help anyone who needs it.
In fact, I wish Blizzard would create a neutral faction!

I've got a friend on Boulderfist, but I think he's Alliance...if I knew his toon name I'd tell ya to whup him for me if you saw him.

Edit: Before they linked up battlegroups by region, Zi tended to get some of the worst in randoms from Crushridge. Not neccessarily bad, but...asses.

Twitchapher, I was heartbroken after reading your post. I would have done the same exact thing and quit the guild too...actions like what that warrior (and hunter) did just leaves a bad taste in a game that's supposed to be fun. I'm Horde on US Boulderfist. My hunter's name is Nimae if you ever just want a fellow rare hunter / rehomer to chat with. I hope you like the transfer, and happy hunting. <3

Thanks guys. Haven't seen my friend that's gonna help me transfer yet do to random Montreal trip and Pokemon Black. >w> I think that's why I like being a hunter. I secretly pretend I'm a pokemon trainer in my inner nerd part of my head. XD

It's not all bad. A day ago one of my old Guildies found Skoll and he was two levels short of taming him so he called me over. Took me about an hour but I did home him. The hunter was very happy.

Zi- Oh, the Alliance side on Crushridge is BAD. They are really serious players. The Horde side is a little calmer though there are some mean people, just like on every sever. FYI, No Chicks Allowed is the top guild on the sever(Alliance) and before Cata went live one of their members chased me across the Wetlands when I was trying to camp for Deathwing to kill me. ><; Wasn't fun.
