I think I messed up my dps

I think by going down from Tier 9 4 piece with 2 of them being Tier 9.25 I lowered my dps. I cant seem to get back into the 5k range anymore..

try get 2 t10 also get your ARP up as MM our cap is 1.6k and your at 317
also get epic gems and ditch teh 10agi+mp5
as MM you want to stack ARP gem in everything! atleast try for 800 then you should hit 5-6k dps
you can spare a few for agi gems and if you want crit get teh 10ari+10 crit though you should get enough from gear i use to be 50% crit just off gear (though if you see my armory im currnetly changing to BM just i havent had much play time cas of college so nothing enchanted right and no gems)
change your +34 agi gems to the ARP ones its a major boost as MM
if you would like with any other information ill be more then willing to help out with what i can

edit: go on femaledwarf.com this will show you your dps just fill it in and change teh gems add buffs etc
i did it last night with my BM gear to be with no buffs just apect of teh dragon hawk i would do 5.1k dps over the time of 5 minutes
adding 10 man raid buff and ones for my pets including endless rage flask and using mana pot over 5 mins i would do 7.9k as BM
then again this site doesnt count using viper and other things

Gemming for ArPen doesn't make a lot of sense unless you are gemming to reach either the hard (1400) or soft (1400-ArPen trinket procs) cap. Otherwise you will get a lot more out of Agility. You do not need 800 ArPen to reach 5-6k DPS.

For Adam, I have made suggestions previously regarding gemming, and I'd also suggest he look at putting 3 points into Improved Arcane Shot, as with his current ArPen level (317), Arcane will hit for more damage than his Steady Shot.

However, I believe the biggest improvements he can make are:
a) Proper gemming
b) Get rid of that excess Hit
c) Get another piece of T10 for the 2pc bonus, you want the combo of 2 T9/2 T10

yes having both the t9 and t10 set active is nice though ask any full time MM hunter now even check on EJ the information will be round about the same

MM is not just ArPen. ArPen is a one-trick pony stat, but yes it does contribute a lot to Marksmen. That said, AGI is both AP and Crit and scales with buffs. ArPen only gets better with more ArPen. The value of stacking ArPen rests completely on your ability to ensure that you always allow Auto Shot to fire and to not miss the opportunity to get in Steady Shots. Which means the effectiveness of the stat is dependent on your ability to control your movement to allow for those shots to be used. And honestly, this is not a skill most Hunters have (I struggle with it but I'm getting better).

If you cannot guarantee that your Auto and Steady Shots will be used to their maximum potential, ArPen isn't going to help you very much.

All Hunters get a decent amount of ArPen via gear, but it's Marksmen that want to stack more in an effort to reach the 1400 hard cap, be it with or without a trinket proc. When you are nearing that 1400 hard cap, then there is considerable value in gemming ArPen.

And the Hit cap for a Draenei is 7%.

even you just said it he when i looked was in MM with wrong gems maybe he hhas double gear like i do and logged out in the wrong ones
and 317 is still love he should atleast have 450

I can help you as far as improving on gemming:

1) Replace your crit and increased crit damage meta with the agility and crit damage meta (Relentless Earthsiege Diamond) This will allow you to only need one blue gem to activate it, which should be a Nightmare Tear (mp5 really doesn't do anything for you).

2) Replace the pure crit gem in your helmet with an agility/crit gem.

3) If you ever want a socket bonus that requires a blue gem (which will rarely be worth it), use a Nightmare Tear.

4) In regards to the Armor Penetration question, you should never even consider gemming armor pen until you have at least 800 armor pen from gear alone, as in before gemming. In your case, you don't have enough armor pen to drop Arcane Shot from your rotation, so use an improved arcane shot build and use arcane shot in the rotation.

Aren't you glad I'm not one of those hunters who just says "ZOMG READ TEH STICKIEZ NOOB" and leaves? =)

As I recommended to you in another thread, for Yellow sockets use Deadly Ametrines (+10 AGI +10 Crit) if you need the socket bonus (or to meet Meta requirements).
