So I have all of the Spirit Beasts on my Hunter except for Skoll. I have actually purposefully avoided taming him because I really dislike that worg model. I prefer the plain model of wolf over all others. So it was odd circumstance that found me in Northrend the other day searching the spawn points for Skoll. I decided to take a quick run around and if he was there, great, if not then I'd just move on to Sholazar Basin. I had meant to camp for King Krush that day. So I was in Storm Peaks at the northeast corner of the Temple of Storms mountain. I tabbed out for a moment to look something up, and when I tabbed back in, bam! My NPC scan went off, but it wasn't Skoll, it was none other than the Time-Lost Proto-Drake! I quickly flew over to him, and in mid-air hoping I wasn't too far off the ground, or still over that big, gaping hole in the ground I targeted and tagged it. I fell to the ground none the worse for wear, but I forgot that I didn't have a pet out. One quick call and my trusty Bastet was roaring her way to intercept the monster before it could get to me, and in short order the rarest of rare proto-drakes was down, and I was the proud owner of the
Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake!
Feeling pretty stoked I took my new mount for a spin and headed over to Sholazar Basin for what I expected to be a long and fruitless camping session. So I got there and I started my run in the east and decided to fly clockwise around the areas that King normally traverses. I got to just south of the Glimmering Pillar and saw his large, green mug striding by. Wondering for a split second if I was seeing things because my NPC Scan didn't go off, but as it turns out I had him cached. I didn't even have my haste gear, pots or anything, but I threw caution to the wind and plunked down right at maximum range and started taming. Then he feared me, sent me running. Four times he sent me involuntarily running in fear, but finally I managed to finish my tame and he decided to be friends after all!
So a night that started out with low expectations actually turned out alright!
