This is a rant post more than anything, and thought it best to make a new topic rather than clog the other Poseidus thread with "My Seahorse Won't Spawn /sadface" posts. Feel free to ignore/chastise me.

Anyway. Before Cataclysm came out I occasionally checked up on the details and was interestd to see seahorses appearing. Even more so when I learned they were to be/could be mounts. I fell in love with the aqua skin immediately and was sorely disappointed to learn that it was not going to be a mount in live. As much as I like the purple one I'd sooner have my Seafoam.

Then came the latest patch. I was interested that Poseidus would be dropping a mount capable of being used outside of Vashj'ir and, of course, I was ecstatic to learn it has the aqua skin! The first thing I did was make my way to Vashj'ir to prepare to camp.

Its been a little over 2 weeks since the patch. Its been a little over 2 weeks with no sign of Poseidus.

Truthfully I cannot camp 24/7 as I have a timer on my router (10am-10pm) and so cannot play at night. Usually I camp for around 8 hours (10am-6pm) before having to log for dinner and a further 3 hours if I don't raid that night, taking turns to camp Abyssal Depths and ringing around Shimmering Expanse. I have never once seen Poseidus and now I'm convinced that if he spawned he did so during the night, though I'm also yet to see anyone with him or on the auction house. Now I've learned that he has a probable respawn timer of around 3 days I feel my chances have dropped significantly.

I'm not above asking for help and have pleaded to guild and friends almost constantly to help me find Poseidus or to give/sell me the mount if they find him while I'm offline. Some said "Sure, anything for a friend." but never do, and others said "Its BoE? I'm totally selling that on the AH for 200k!" Basically I'm alone.

I spend so much time in Vashj'ir these days that I'm starting to feel that poor Varethyn will turn into a naga himself before I find Poseidus. While that'd be cool it would also be pointless as I'd no longer be able to ride any of my mounts

Oh I feel your pain, trust me. After seeing the long spawn timer on this beast, I don't even bother camping until the 72 hour point, and still nothing : /

Last night after a day of camping lightly on my Mage for TLPD, I went to do a nice bout of PvP on my Hunter, then went lollygagging afterwards looking for the Seahorse... when I did a round and saw nothing, I logged back over to the Mage... to a dead TLPD that I knew (gut feeling) would spawn before the night was over. Just crappy that I missed that spawn over a round for a mount that just won't show! Boo! Hang in there

As much as I do enjoy the uh "challenge" of a long camp for a rare mount, you wouldn't think it'd kill Blizz to make this very situational water-only mount, which is also BOE, the product of a normal (6-24hr or something) rare spawn.

Thanks for the support. Honestly I can kind of understand how long his respawn is, after all he drops a mount, an epic cape (iirc) and a random recipe of sorts, all BoE. I'm just venting since I can't play at night and have no way of knowing when he last spawned or how long I'll be there for.
I have better luck with my rare pets Camp time of anywhere between 5 minutes (Skoll, Gondria, KK and Terrorpene) to 8 hours (Arcturis and Jadefang) and only missing two of them (Sambas twice and Terrorpene once). Rare mounts (bar grey camel) seem to hate me

The real problem with this guy is, that on US servers so far he hasnt spawned at all. Server restarts have really screwed up his timer and keeps resetting him. Aww Sui I feel your pain I am currently camping that ellussive beast, ive missed him twice.. once i logged off to soon, the other time I missed him by a minute at a spawn point, his corpse was still up after I came back from pvp so he must have just spawned after I left that spot..

Right NOW...THIS MOMENT...its been 3 days since our last server restart....so IDK if I want to look around for a seahorse, or stick to Deepholm. I dont WANT the seahorse, but I know someone who does.

Me again but I really need to get this off my mind.

The reason I don't do dungeons when camping.

Every Saturday and Tuesday I've logged on as early as I can (9am) and waited in Vashj'ir, mostly camping in the Abyssal Depths and patrolling every 30 minutes. Its getting late in the day today and I feel that I've missed him, so I join a Zandalari heroic with a couple of guildies and have to pug a tank.
Every tank we had sucked hard.
It took us 2 hours to get to the last boss in ZA, and a further 1 to... well, we never did kill him.
As we were running bck from our numberless wipe my brother informs me Poseidus is up. I freak and leave the dungeon ASAP... only to learn the one of his guildies killed Poseidus despite being asked to wait for me. Most people know how badly I want this mount.

I snapped basically.

I'm very close to giving up. I'm tired of long days with nothing to show for it.

I camped him for a while... well no, not "camp" - I checked in, logged off, etc. That works well for pets but not mounts - probably because with pets you're only really competing with one class vs mounts which obv have universal appeal... especially BOE ones that sell for 100k+ on the AH (I really don't think it was a good idea for Blizz to make this BOE).

But anyhoo so yeah, no luck there.

The thing is, I do have the sea turtle on one toon... and it's never really proved useful. Well one time I used it to sneak through stormwind's canals back when I was doing the summertime achievements (back before you could fly in old world), but otherwise - any large water zone includes all kinds of freebie "zone only" boosters, like the abyssal seahorse, the motorboat (and underwater jet boots) from 1k Needles, etc etc. So now I'm planning on putting in a crapton of time to get a faster "sea turtle"?

Bearing that in mind, I suspect if I did find Poseidus that I'd end up putting him on the AH - it's hard to justify passing up 100k+ gold for a mount that I'll virtually never use (albeit a very cool looking one)... so I decided to throw in the towel and move on. I'm just not that hardcore. Good luck to everyone still searching though!

I have yet to see it in the AH on my realm or up at all.. sorry to hear about what happened. Your bro should have killed it and gave it to you.. but sometimes it just makes it that much sweeter.

He's spawned on Moon Guard. I've seen 3 people selling him for 500k.

Don't give up! The fly bys or in this case swim bys really do work for mounts AND pets alike. I missed that mount too once...I check for a spawn and left once my HS was up then 5 mins later someone got him! I was about to give up too but I didn't. Hes due to spawn today since I killed him a while ago. If I get him I would be more then happy to give him to you...but only problem is that I'm on Fizzcrank. >: Maybe we can work something out?

I've heard he has more of a 3-day respawn, similar to the rare bosses, but I'm not 100% certain on that (tips peeps? ) so right now Saturdays are best to search. Tuesdays too possibly but he'd have a very small spawn window before maintainance depending on when he spawned on Saturday. Any info you get would be helpful of course.
And don't worry about being on another realm/server, having your support, and that of the others, is enough

All week I'd been telling myself, "Don't camp! Don't camp! Do random fly-bys!" ...Well I just couldn't pull myself away.
As soon as my router was turned on this morning (9am) I almost literally leapt onto the computer and made my way to Vashj'ir. Nothing as yet except for someone else sitting in my usual camp spot at Biel'aran Ridge >.>
For now (still yelling at myself to just look then do something else... not working ) I'm semi-camped at the Abyssal Depths spawn point and doing loops every 10 minutes or so. Entertaining myself by typing here, drawing random doodles on various ripped envelopes I have littered about the place or tickling my younger brother.
Come on Poseidus, I need you to spawn for me! /beg

Just wanted to come vent my frustration at the two fellow horde players who are automatically doing laps around the 5 spawn locations.

I actually recorded the second guy and have almost 10minutes worth of video showing him cheating. I approached the player and have since been successful in ensuring he doesn't cheat when I am online - Due to the fact he is afraid I will record more evidence and get other witnesses to see him in the act. He does cheat though when I am offline, came online tonight to find him doing it... Shortly after messaging him, within 10 minutes, he stops and picks a spot and camps it. Frustratingly, he is friends with the first guy I caught and they have been abusing me ever since and also claiming I won't be able to get anything done about it - which I am afraid is most likely true given past experiences with Blizzard. The also get alliance players to come in and attempt to kill me.

I guess if you are also having the same problems, you might be successful like me to get them to at least stop doing it while you are online

Thankfully I haven't encountered any cheaters as yet. I have seen hackers but they were only interested in obsidium (and were quickly reported).
I'm still miffed though, not only because its been 7 hours but because any guildies and friends I chat to about it are still only interested in selling it regardless of how much I want it. Also I'm ill and shouldn't really be camping.

Good luck in your own search. I'd love to see the reaction the cheaters give when you ride past them on the mount you apparently couldn't do anything about
