With the help of a guildie to take on the tanking brunt of the attack, off we went to try her luck. What a battle it was to get that pet.
Since most of the tames I have done are simple, I did not set up anything to do the tame. With the first attempt, I was able to get the agro on the dragonhawk to start the tame, but lost it before the tame finished, next thing I know, I’m dead, whoa.
Second attempt, again not doing anything to set up for the tame, I could never get the agro on the dragonhawk and again… I’m dead.
Then it’s time to start thinking on what to do… we discussed what I should try. Is he trappable, yes, and I should use distracting shot to get him to come to me. We get back there, I drop the trap and we start again. The distracting shot works to send the dragonhawk to me, and wham he’s caught in the trap. Start the tame, but what!!!! I’m dead again? It wasn’t from the dragonhawk itself, so some of the mob must have shot at me.
So next attempt I need to get rid of the agro from the mob… so we did the same thing as before…. Distracting shot, trap dragonhawk, and then I fd’s to drop agro. I thought it worked well and started the tame… but I see my health dropping fast.. take a quick look and I have a dot on me that is burning though my health quickly. Once again I did not survive long enough to finish tame.
So for the last attempt. Drop trap, distracting shot, put on deterrence to stop any dot being put on me… once trapped, feigned death. Cool no agro I can see…. Get up… start tame… going good when I see the dot appear. I was shot at again, but it was late in the tame and I got the tame off with a couple of seconds left before the dot killed me.
I just love this dragonhawk. I think partly because it was such a difficult tame. Thanks again Salronn for helping me with this tame.

This is not the end of my story though.
I had decided a couple of weeks ago that I also wanted to get the raven lord mount. I had found out that he was in heroic version of sethekk halls and I needed a key to be able to do the heroic version. You can get the key from lower city quartermaster, but you need to be honored to buy it. So every time I could, I would go through regular Sethekk halls to work on my rep. Last night I finally got honored with lower city and went to get the key. With my new found companion, I go to Sethekk halls so that I could dance with Anzu. When the dance was over, I am in shock when I see “Reins of the Raven Lord” in the loot. So with just one run, I am the proud owner of this beautiful mount.
Now watch out Gretta…. I’m coming to get my white bear mount that you refuse to give to me.
