Death Pets

Out of the four pets, which do you guys think does the most damage, including the pet talent trees that go with it, (highest amount of damage quickly.) Devilsaur, Chimaera, Silithid, and Core Hound.

A Devilsaur out of those, hands down.

If you're looking for pure DPS, a Devilsaur is known for being one of the best choices for a BM hunter. Chimera and Silithids are better suited to PvP, and Core Hounds are a little lackluster in DPS, though they have great utility against casters.

Devilsaurs BY FAR!!! Though honestly, you can go with just about any pet and it will still give you decent dps. Not the best, per se, but good. :) I see too much of the wolf mentality, "Gotta get the bestest best damage pet!" when really you should just try to use what you like. I think the only exception is bringing a tenacity pet, but honestly if you do your job and know your class well enough, you probably wouldn't get too much grief for it. I brought my turtle to an instance or two and no one cared, as long as I wasn't a huntard. ;)

Actually tenacity pets can hold their own too. And are just as useful- mob on clothie and tank can't get it off, as yes, taunts do fail. Go go tenacity pet, zerg it like you mean it! And worms have an armor debuff, bears have two AoE's etc...

tbh Wolves are alright but Devilsaur's are better, mostly as they can keep their bite up 24/7 where as it might take work to micromanage Howl and if you don't like micromanaging. But then again, the wolf doesn't have to be IC to boost its damage or your own, the devilsaur does.

I've also heard tales about someone claiming wasps can outdo Devilsaur's in damage if you have a high enough crit rating + GftT

Thanks all, I forgot to mention that I'm 59 right now BM spec so idk which of the four to get b/c they all looked pretty good for damage, I was mostly thinking pvp pets like cunning because I absolutely love doing pvp all the time. Kinda why I have a serpent, 7sec special ability cool down 30yd range DoT with that longevity BM skill. It's that feeding frenzy, cornered, and wolverine bite that get me really into cunning pets which is great pvp skills. But if you still think devilsaur is best, let me know! Thanks :)

Then if you're PVPing, go with Chimera for the slow, later on test out Nether Ray's for their silence, or even an Owl for it's snatch, or even a Sithilid, tho they will all probably require micromanagement but if you want something that has a slow + dmg + low CD, grab a Chimera.

Chimaera ftw. It takes some getting used to because the wingspan kinda gets in the way, but after practice it becomes less of an issue. The slow is awesome as is the ranged attack. I'm told ravagers are fun in PvP too.

PvP isn't about raw damage as much as it is about controlling a situation. Anything that stuns, slows, roots or otherwise debuffs someones ability to pwn you just makes pwning them a lot easier :). Devilsaur's all bite and no stun.

When I level my hunter to 85, I'll probably use my Numeroc (Chimaera), unless I start getting all gooey eyed over the new mobs we'll get to tame in Cata. The day I came to Petopia and saw they were going to have tamable devilsaurs, corehounds and chimaeras, a brick fell out the back of my chair... caught myself drooling a little too.
I don't really feel like this is so much the "Post-Modern" era as much as its the "Pre-Zombie-Apocalpse" era. I consider myself more of a forward thinking guy and an era that just won't die is just as feasible as a coming era, where the dead come back.

Devilsaur by a long shot. They can dish out tons of damage and take it all back. Thats why I think of them as tanks with teeth

Ryai,
I have been saying for quite some time that I get my best dps with a wasp, and that it takes high crit to use them well. And i say this as "my personal best dps". The wasp just fits the way i play the best, so i do better dps with it. I don't stack a huge amount of AP until I have a huge amount of crit, then I add ap as my crit gets "too high". lol Don't know if that makes any sence. but regardless, if you can keep some focus on the wasp, he can sting the $$$$ out of stuff. get your crit really high, then worry about AP. You'll be critting so much that the lack of AP almost doesn't matter. So, if you have the 40% crit or higher (at present time,i am around 45%... have been cutting some off to raise my ap), try a wasp. It's nice seeing your "orange" damage go off every 4 seconds or so.
