Arcturis, why?

I've been camping for something like 20+ hours now.
I had to go away for an hour or so to get dinner and I wasn't too bother by this because a high level hordie kept killing me for kicks. I get back in, find I'm somehow still online, and rez.

I've spent the last ten minutes getting repeatedly killed by another hunter, onoe who's my level. Every time I rez I give her the benifit of the doubt, pray that she'll realize I've been here for ages and ages and will stop killing me before my health even gets all the way back. I don't even have a pet out, so that when Arcturis pops up I can tame him more quickly. She doesn't care. I know she gets honor for killing me, but this is really uncool. And I'm not willing to leave my post again, so I'm just sitting here, looking at my dead body, and praying Arcturis doesn't show up until she leaves.

I don't even know if this is the right forum to put this in. I hope so.

Arcturis, I'm sleep deprived and half crazy from all this camping. Please come out.

And blood elf hunter with the Rake who keeps killing me, please stop. I know you want him too, but can't we just sit there together? Other hordies have sat with mr in my vigil, why can't you?

I just hope I get him soon, because I don't know how much longer I can keep this all up.

If I was on your server, I'd give that other hunter a tasty overdose of their own medicine.

People like that, unfortunately, take an extremely long time to get bored of griefing others. Hopefully your woes will be rewarded with good karma.

Amazingly, as soon as I posted this she left and I'm free and by myself in my little camping spot once again!

I've noticed his ridiculously long timer. D: Over the last two days there's been no sign of him, no one who's seen him (at least ally side) at all.

EDIT: And as soon as I posted that, she came back and started killing me again. Damn.

You should stick by my side, every time I go to grizzly on my alts or helping friends, the damn ghost bear is there already D: and I already ran out of ally hunters to re-home it.

If memory serves me well, I have seen him at least 4 or 5 times around 2-4 pm EST and two at around 8-9pm on the akama server.

And you could also get someone to round north and kill/tame/rehome other rares to speed up the process.

...I can't believe I thought camping Olm was bad. I'm afraid what it'll be like when I hit 76 and can tame Loque like I've always wanted.

Also, can you guys tell me which name you like best for our favourite spirit bear? I've got Tariq, Shiota, and Astrid. Shiota was the first pet I ever tamed (a light brown bear) who had to be let go for stable space. If I don't name Arcturis after her I'll get another bear just like her to cart around. Astrid is what Shiota got renamed (which I instantly regretted). I count her as a totally different pet. Tariq means "morning star" and, since I've heard Arcturis spawns a lot in the early morning, just as the sun is coming up but the stars are still out, I thought it would be fitting. He's certainly remniscent of how stars look in the morning, faded but still shining bright.

But I can't decide. ): So, what do you guys think?

I'll jump on a horde alt, PM the blood elf who's been killing me for two hours and ask her to PM me back if she tames him (for time references). She probably won't but it's worth a shot. Or maybe I'll get lucky and when I log back in she'll be gone and he'll be there.

Just wanted to let you know I'm logging to take a bath and read a book and that I don't blame you for the two hours of deaths you've put me through.
Honestly, I understand. You want Arcturis, so do I.
I understand that you have no idea that I've been sitting there on and off over 24 hours.
I understand that you don't know that I've done a 13 hour camp followed by a five hour and now two hour one.

Honestly, I hope he spawns for you. Because then I can go back to camping in peace.

I know you probably won't, especially because now I'm being hostile, but if he does spawn I'd appreciate it if you PM'd me the time.
And sorry for the hostility, but at this point I almost don't care.

Just so you know, by the way:
- if you don't kill hunters of the opposite faction who are hunting the same beast you may make some friends
- they may decide that you deserve the pet more
-they're more likely to tell you if it does spawn and you'll know when it should next spawn
- you don't look like a total jerk

Have fun, hope he spawns, and if he doesn't, perhaps next time there could be some civility?

Call in some backup! Guildies, friends, other hunters or crazy pvp players to come help crowd control the troll. I would just xfer to a pve server, but thats me.

I had the same issue back when i started wow on alliance camping for Humar. Horde just kept killing me over and over again, then I think he's gone human spawns I'm almost done taming him horde kills humar laughs and rides away. I deleted that toon quickly and jumped to a pve server. If I was there though with you on my space goat I would come and help I don't want the bird but it's not needed to kill someone that many times in a row.

It is certainly one of the biggest issues of playing on a PvP server. I hate it, but I'm not willing to cough up the dough for a transfer-- mostly because if I did I'd also be switching factions. I haven't come up with any good reasons for me not to go through with this, but I haven't come up with any really good reasons to do it, either. So I guess I'll just deal with it. At least now you can have both factions on one server, so you can talk to the other faction some.

Glad to say that it's been peaceful since I logged back on. I wonder if she got her Arcturis, since she never responded to my PM. I don't blame her, I was rather rude.

...Looked at her armory page and she didn't. Maybe she'll be back, maybe not. Oh well.

And no, she's only 74, like me. OTL
She gets me when I'm tabbed out and the proceeds to kill me as soon as I rez, when I have only half health and no focus. I also don't have a pet out. xD

A few hours after a hordie came by, pulled out his Arcturis and killed me, the beautiful beastie spawned! I've got him, and I do feel for sure that this bear is a him, so he's going to be named Tariq, the only guy name I had picked out.

Remember what I said about the name Tariq? Morning stars, etc?

He popped up at 4.26am, just when all that stuff I talked about starts to happen. I could see it outside the window. I was actually looking out the window when he spawned.

Oh congrats, glad you got the sparkly bear....

I got my bear named Glowbear after six months of camping and waiting, on a day when I thought Oh I will just fly over, it was 4pm on a weekend afternoon and there he was ambling along the river bank so i grabbed him. Yes my bear is a boy, the way he was nonchalantly swaggering along the river bank like not a care in the world that poor Bunni has been waiting so long for him to show up.

Gondria was another long wait I had to camp her hard, did a full six months and longer of religiously waiting and not even a sighting- dont see her around a lot on my server. Anyway after a full day waiting and camping I logged back in after tea to spot her yellow dor below me and NPC scan trumpeting away- gives me a flipping heart attack, anyway now have gondria... sparkly pink kitty named Mia, and Mia is a girl, definately, she is mischervious on petemote she is always swatting me with a paw and she has her lil kitty cub as well to look after, cant wait to get the mount to join my lil pink kitty family esp when they can run longside

Lokkeigh (loque) is feeling very envious and on pet emote is following me round and gripping my ankles with his paws or sucking the end of my tabard like a baby kitty as he feels anxious

Congrats on the tame! You are very deserving of the magnificently beautiful blue spirit bear. Oh, and good luck with future struggles on finding Loque'nahak! It sure was an adventure for me.

As a side note, I really don't get the whole "if I can't get it then you can't either!" attitude with some players. Just let the (opposing faction) player tame it if they're already channeling tame beast or are already camping the spot.. that way you'll have less competition the next time around and everyone is happy! I don't even bother to mention the whole 'one shotting a lowbie or their tame while happening to pass by' ordeal. *sigh* What's the point? Way to be a generic bad movie bully.

People have no manners these days. Makes me sad.

Whats worse: Having a hunter repeatedly killing you during the camp

Having any other class killing you during a camp

Or having another hunter kill you during the tame, and then proceed to tame the rare you were after?


Also, grats on taming your Arcturis, I never really cared for bear models in wow, however. Found one on Eitrig server, 'round 10:00 PM, and tamed him because: He was my FIRST spirit beast, which is also why I kept him around for a while, despite not being fond of him.
