What race for my half breed.
I am thinking about making another half breed, yes I know they are fairly common but I still want one.
the one race I am considering is an orc since it is one race I have not played much.
She'd be the result of a forbidden relationship between an orc and an alliance race .. the three I am chosing from are the ones in the poll.

Re: What race for my half breed.
Must the human, draenei nelf still have the Alliance allegiance or could it be an human halfbreed
who'm the human father/mother got turned undead afterwards?
which could be interesting to play in my opinion

Re: What race for my half breed.
no they dont have to have alliance allegiances still, I did consider a hybrid of three races but there is only really one documented in WoW lore (i could be wrong here) which is Med'an who is draenei-orc-human.
and as interesting as that could be there is no love lost between me and forsaken I just could never click with one.

Re: What race for my half breed.
Half-orcs of Draenei and Human descent are confirmed in lore and you can likely get away with them. I cannot, will not recommended Night Elf considering, uh, Cenarius, and I cannot see a a Night Elf mother carrying the child to term regardless - if it even lasted that long, as the father most certainly would not. And Vrykul...I don't see how that has any standing in lore at all.
Most half-orcs with a Draenei parent are the result of rape, while we're at it. I'm not sure about the humans, but it's likely that your half-spacegoat's mother(typically) was taken advantage of back on Draenor. The thing about half-Draenei is that their aging is so messy and unclear it's a little hard to write up a history in line with the Lore. Mine was raised by her neutral father and worked her way into the Horde through much blood, sweat and tears - she's still not fully accepted, she's still not loved, she still gets looks and insults and threats because that is part of being a half-breed. Very, very few people know what she is besides a scrawny, sickly-looking Orc. She hides her horns and wears goggles to disguise her eyes, because if you want to stand in Orgrimmar and not die, you'll do your damnedest to blend in.
I think a lot of people forget that when it comes to half-breeds, or dragons, or anything like that. It's not about standing out, it's about blending in. And that sort of roleplay doesn't suit everyone. You're going to get a lot of flak just for playing one, but if you're in-line with the Lore and not a super sparkly princess, there really isn't much they can say besides "YOU'RE PLAYING A HALF-BREED".

Re: What race for my half breed.
who says this has to follow lore? not me.
I DO NOT intend to RP with this character, she is for STORY purposes mainly.
I suppose I should have clarified that.
I only wanted to see what people think and it appears I have gotten my wish.
thanks ladies and gents.

Wait, what?
I am having a hell of a time trying to justify your ignorance of Lore in a story set in the Warcraft universe. If you want to ignore preexisting story, make your own universe and write your own stories there. Being a story doesn't exempt you from following Lore because, surprise, roleplays are stories with multiple people. If you can't ignore Lore there, why can you do so solo? I guess the argument here is if you're going to write about a half-Orc and ignore the Lore provided, why write about a Warcraft Orc at all?
However it's your prerogative. Write what you want, I suppose, I'm just answering the question. Good luck with your story all the same. :)

Re: What race for my half breed.
She stated that it wasn't for an RP idea, that it was for her own personal story. To get all up in arms over a decision in her own story, seems a little much. She only wanted a little input, not an inquisition. So yes she might be basing it of Warcraft lore, but the way I see it, it's her own personal story and she can shape it anyways she pleases.

Re: What race for my half breed.
When did I get 'up in arms'? She asked for an opinion and I gave one. I apologize for not seeing the mention of it being for a personal story until after I offered my input, I get tunnel-vision when it comes to half-orcs considering the amount of research I put into mine. Really though those concerns should apply to everything, be it story or roleplay.Kaleos wrote:She stated that it wasn't for an RP idea, that it was for her own personal story. That said, I don't particularly care what she writes or what's the other half of her character, if it rides unicorns and is married to Illidan. It's her story, but she should be prepared for that sort of question because it's something every reader does. If she's just keeping it to herself, then that isn't really an issue, but the fact of the matter is that she asked for an opinion, I gave her one, and then was mildly confused by the response. Judging by the poll answers and the mention about Med'an later on, I gathered she was trying to keep in line with the Lore. My bad.
I don't think I came off a inquisitional at all, you don't have to white knight her. :P

White knight or not, the fact you decided to make it a personal attack on her is what I have issue against. You start off saying what she can't do, instead of asking her questions related to her story and then offering constructive criticism. Like so many on this forums lately, you jump in and start with why she can't do such or why it's a bad idea.

I think you both need to take a step back. O.o I agree that yeah, Nub, you came off a bit strong. But Kal, it certainly wasn't a personal attack.

Re: What race for my half breed.
Like I said earlier, I apologize if I came off strongly. It's a subject I hold rather dear to my heart.
I don't really see where I made a personal attack. She asked 'What should the other half of my half-orc be?' and I offered my opinion based on what I know - I don't really think I attacked her. I never said she couldn't do anything - just that doing certain things would go against the Lore and, as we've established, she doesn't care about the Lore in this situation - so it's all moot.

I said human cause Me'dan is fairly good looking imo and one of my favorite lore characters even if some people hate him. I realize that hes like what a three-breed? Is that the technical word for it ? But regardless if it came out looking like Me'dan I'd approve!

Re: What race for my half breed.
How about Orc/Darkspear Troll? They were friendly enough before Cataclysm -- I can definately see that working out.
Or perhaps Blood (or High) Elf/Amani Troll. Considering their history, it's bound to have happened at one point or another.

this time I wanted a horde-alliance mix but I will most certainly keep those combinations in mind for future stories
