So after a year of playing a BM hunter I gave up ever trying to find a rare beast to show off to my guildies.

In March I picked up Archaeology and ventured up to Northrend when I reached the right level. I started off in Zul'drak and was flying off to my first arch point when my npc scan went off. Gondria was directly below me! I panicked and dismounted quickly (nearly killed myself lol). I didn't even think about my health (at 85 I'm used to being super ossom). I managed to drop my ice block and grabbed him. I celebrated in guild chat and quickly properly specced my BM. But, I wanted more. I got a little voice in my head saying ''gotta collect them, all of them!''. It then became my mission to actively seek rare, exotic, and spirit beasts (although one may argue that was always my goal..I just had awful luck!).

My next pet was Ghostcrawler. I rescued him from a raiding group who was advertising in trade for dps to kill him. This made me a sad panda, so I swam out there as fast as I could. I got /spit on a lot and called a noobtard. I started casting tame on him while they were just standing there. One of their tanks pulled his aggro off of me, I died from his aoe nerfbat.. but they did too! I ran back to my body and watched them attempt to kill this poor crab again. When they wiped again, I sat down and quickly ate some food as I watched him dissapear and re-appear. I caught up to him just as I saw the group in the distance. I tamed him before they showed up. The QQ in trade after that was amazing to say the least..!

With ghostcrawler, I topped the DPS in our guild raids, he helped keep me alive during the Chimaereon encounter... I was blissfully happy..but I still wanted more!

I collected King Krush while on a Loque camp, Arcturis at 6 am on a whim, my bff in my guild camped Skoll for me and helped me tame him..

Just yesterday I grabbed Karoma after one of my priest friends blessed me with her buffs.. I was just doing a routine sweep and he was standing all on his own about lunch time. There wasn't a hunter around for miles! I panicked and auto shot him instead of tamed him, I found my button in time.

This morning I found a red Madexx. I was ecstatic.. ! I really want Sambas and Loque.. but am I demanding too much? I'm really lucky with the pets I already have, but I still want more. I have one spare space in my pet summons and one left in my stables.

I'm totally looking the random spawn timer gift horse in the mouth, but I want them.

It is. I'm kinda horrified people are trying to get raids to kill him. Although, I would laugh to no end if all he drops is a tear.

I wish them good luck with tanks that can't keep aggro because of nerfbat >.>

Hey, our guild killed the whale shark just because it was there. Had fun doing it, too. But grats on the Ghostcrawler tame, and they have nothing to QQ about...if they sucked less, they would have killed him before you were able to tame him.

Really? They invited you with the intent of killing it, and you tamed it underneath them? I'd be pretty ticked off too. That's like saying, "Guys, I need help on Chromaggus!" and they kill him before you can tame him. Sure, Ghostcrawler might not drop loot. Whale shark doesn't. People like killing challenges because they're challenges. People will kill Ghostcrawler, and Deth, and Kirix, and all of those challenge rares, because they're hard to kill.

/End being different and "evil" and "in the wrong".

I know you're being different and respect that. Allow me to clear a fact, they didn't invite me nor was I part of their group. I had been camping him for weeks and told them when I arrived. Not my fault they had crappy dps and they advertised his spawn. If it wasn't me it would've been another hunter.

Mmm. I can see that more excusable, but it was still a low move. Be grateful you pulled it off before they did, because if you hadn't, I would imagine your camp would be nigh impossible with those folks camping you for trying to take their Ghostcrawler.

Still, the entitlement hunters think they have does irk me. Was it their tag, at any point, and you took it? Or did you make sure it was untagged?

EDIT: I do appreciate the respect though as opposed to jumping down my throat and going, "RARGLHSNZ GHOSTCRAWLER IS HUNTER ONLY AND NO ONE SHOULD EVER KILL HIM EVER AND IT IS MY SWORN DUTY TO STEAL FROM ALL KILLERS."

And all of that said, grats on your new pet.

It was tagged to me first then they pulled it off me and then they wiped. I have no sense of entitlement but I did kind of enjoy the rush of the tame.

Also how do I go about permission for a Sig?

I see nothing wrong with them taming Ghostcrawler from a raid, they would have given up due the the fact that he cannot be killed. Nerf bat hits to hard, Ghostcrawler hits like a truck already and even if you mange to live long enough to get him down a bit he will vanish. (he dose this every minute or so) They don't name him Gre- er...Ghostcrawler for nothing...

Well said Azu. Ghostcrawler is not impossible, just the single hardest mob in the game. It requires the kind of organisation and timing the likes of which only the top world guilds could likely achieve.

The fact afaik, no one has really tried means we dont fully know if he is or not.

I was flying over Loque's spawn points this morning and found him! I found my elusive cat after a year of searching. Yey :3

Wow. Hey, let's make a tamable rare drop EPICS. Good thing I already got him/don't want him.

Oh, let's ask the lurker/dev to make this so so I can watch hunters cry. It TOTALLY won't encourage griefing! Not at all!

But it's OKAY! The tamable rares despite being put there for hunters should TOTES BE KILLABLE BY EVERYONE! For Loot!

Sorry. There are /far more/ non-tamable rares that drop blues and epics than there are tamables. People can just deal with it that the one class that has to camp and tame half of its functionality needs to y'know, be able to do so without random assclarinets rolling by.

Oh sure, first come, first serve. Still think that hunter rares should be protected, either with nerf bat hijinx or something. I am not a big fan of 'Not wanting to be griefed makes you ENTITLED as does wanting tamables to be exclusive!'. What other class has to camp or hope they get really lucky for something? Sure, people can and will kill the achievement rares. But I think blizzard moved away from that. Which in my humble opinion, is good. There's lots of tedious things I can do in game that aren't camping or hoping I just get lucky. Yes, I hope they add lots of killables to hunt and make trophies of. But let there me something someone can tame without worry. :/

Edit: The main reason I suspect he drops a tear is just that all other Cata tamables do. And yes, it would be hilarious to see. As I said, hunters just have enough to deal with in terms of competition, random buttheads, bumbling noobs and what not trying to get a rare without throwing roving raid guilds into the mix.

I hope I do not sound overtly hostile. I can be quite forceful in my posts. I keep cutting this one but it doesn't seem like I like it.

And geez. I swear I'll get this edited just right.

I've rehashed my opinion on this over and over. The argument will carry on until the forums die. So I'm just going to say "Screw it." and let it go. I think hunters are being spoiled. That's my opinion. Others think they aren't. People I think I'm a monster for slaughtering rares. Others don't.

Bwah? How are hunters spoiled? Oh here's an awesome rare pet! Btw, here's Dingus the DK farming him for lulz. Or here's someone killing it midtame. And have fun fending off the other 99 million hunters. Oh, that awesome spirit beast you want for raiding/dungeons? You gotta CAMP or get lucky.

I just don't see it honestly. I fail to see how choice in what a pet looks like or does is being 'spoiled'. Especially not when it's easily 30-50% of your utility. Choices are a groovy thing.

I don't think anyone is a monster for killing rares, I just want tamables a bit more protected. There's /scads/ of non-tamables or non-unique rares for the squishing. I would like them to /add/ more non-tamables for squishing and achievements for non-tamables. If you like rare or trophy hunting, more power to you. Heck, maybe even add rares that drop cool goodies that're just for funsies. More mount dudes? Sure. Go for it. But getting rare pets is painful enough. Maybe even add goodies like a title for X number of nontamable rares killed. Something like the Hunter or Seeker or Lucky or I dunno.

Yeah, best to avoid the derail train. That's just how I feel about it. Both groups deserve consideration and protection. And I am a conductor on the Derail Express. >_<
