I'm sure this question has been asked a hundred times and I have search the net and read many views on this but I am looking for this communities views in perticular as your the experts.
As the game currently stands in 4.2 which is the best pet type for solo PvE quest leveling, Ferocity or Tenacity ?
I've heard Tenacity as they tank better and Ferocity as theres never much reason to tank multiple mobs when questing and they have better DPS so am now looking for your opinions?
Also I'm unsure if different pets or pet families have different attack powers etc? I believe they used to from what I've read but now it no longer matters as they all attack the same, is this correct?
Cheers

All pets have the same base damage now, the only difference is in the talent trees.
Cats will give you the best damage while leveling, as they have an agility buff. You get a second active pet slot at 20, so you could carry around both a cat for maximum damage (also good in groups) and a turtle/beetle for tanking tough mobs.

Re: Ferocity or Tenacity
As BM, I just solo everything with a Ferocity pet (Spirit Beast for heals + best damage buff).
However, I keep a Beetle with me for tanking anything really tough I come across. Between these two pets, there's pretty much nothing I can't kill. Mend (glyphed) + Bloodthirsty will keep any Ferocity pet going against multiple (easy) mobs, but for raid boss types the Beetle/Turtle is tops.
Ferocity: Fast, efficient questing
Tenacity: Hardcore heavy-duty soloing
Not sure if non-BM hunters can keep aggro on a Ferocity pet easily, though. Haven't played any other spec at 85

Re: Ferocity or Tenacity
I typically use my bear for my soloing needs, just so I don't have to hit my Mend Pet button. It also makes me feel like I have a huge buffer zone even if I end up doing something stupid and pull a handful of mobs at once. That said, on occasion I leave Loque out instead of swapping because I'm too lazy to dismiss+summon...

Re: Ferocity or Tenacity
Depends on what level you are soloing at as well.
As a BM and over the level that you get that last talent point to tame exotics, I use a spirit beast and a shale spider for my solo'ing. In instances I take a devilsaur and a core hound.
While leveling low level hunters, I tend to stick to a tenacity while by myself, such as a bear or turtle, and then, when I am able to have a second pet slot, a cat or wolf.

Think as I'm probably going to be a dwarf I'll stick with bear (and tame that nce white one in starting area
) and then get a nice snow leapord at 21 when second slot becomes available and experiment.
