Why I Love My Pet

Unread post by Mania »

I love my slime for many reasons:
  1. His green matches my skin, not exactly but in general tone.
  2. He burbles quietly to himself when he is happy. (And he is always happy.)
  3. He has the most darling animations. "Slime away!" I shout as he charges squishily at speed across the ground to attack a target.
  4. He never gets in my way. He knows to keep his head down when I am shooting (which isn't hard since only comes up my knees).
  5. He doesn't mind when I get him killed. I just gather up the bits and he oozes back together, good as new.
I love my slime. I wish everyone could have a slime.

Why do you love your pet?

I love Hermie, my tallstrider, of whom I'm currently the most fond of all my pets:

He has a mischievous sense of humor, since he is always smiling.

His eyes seem to twinkle with intelligence.

He loves to speed into battle, is fiercely protective and is just as happy hanging out by my side.

I can see why so many fall for tallstriders, as they can possess so much personality!!!

I love Skorn. I know that out of all my pet swapping, he will always be my one permanent pet through thick and thin.

~ I adore his blue eyes, like shards of ice that glow in dark places.
~ His black hide slashed with blue is both beautiful and fierce.
~ The immense size of a Devilsaur friend is nothing if not thrilling.
~ His noble and confident stride as he takes his place by my side.
~ The intimidating roar he unleashes to strike fear into our enemies, and the blood that drips from his jaws as he rushes in to attack.
~ The adorable way he nuzzles me when no one else is looking.
~ The way his tail eagerly swishes from side to side as he awaits our next movements.
~ His strong presence is a constant reassurance, and his everlasting companionship brings a smile to my face.

I love My Ghost wolf because
  • He makes a haunting howl as he runs off into battle
He matches my blue hair, blue skin, blue tabard, blue mount, etc... and I love blue.
He would never admit it, but he mothers my spectral kitten and always runs back checks she's alright after each battle.
To tame him it took the help of two really good friends whom have been with me ever since we tamed him and has a special place in their heart too.
Yes he's a wolf, but he if a bit of an oddity, much like myself.
I love him so much, that when it's time to wipe in a raid, I try to I feign death, call him back to my side, dismiss him, then run to my own death so he does not need to die needlessly.

I love my wolf. I wish everyone could have a ghost wolf.

I love my Ghost Wolf too.
He's blue, and somewhat shiny.
I get whispers about him.
I get whispers from Shammies about him.
His roar "haz teh awezomez".
He's never afraid to charge into battle. What's the worst that could happen.
Having half a raid (PUGs) /pat him is awesome.
Having the RL for our Guildruns say "Toss the meat!" instead of "Burn CDs!" is just awesome, and a funny in-joke.
I once got a whisper from a Druid that wanted to buy him for his new Hunter.
Being called nabtard for allegedly bringing a Spirit Beast.
Being called mean for not telling other Hunters about this awesome new spirit beast, and his spawnpoints.

I also exist on DeviantArt.

I Love my Boo becaue shes always been by my side since level 58
Shes the cutest thing you could ever lay your eyes upon, i tamed her when she was just a hatchling
She always allows me to get the first shot in when we go allie hunting
She has the cutest swim animation
Shes the most popular pet out of my guild, when i havent taken her out in a while they ask me where she is
She gives other creatures around us a threatening gaze to warn them off, so sweet,
Out of all my pets i have never released her in the entire time ive been playing (about 2.5 yrs)
That is why i love my lil orange ravager <3

I love my Kreature. I believe he has the most personality.

*He randomly killed a Zhevra while I was running to WC.
*I also like the noise he makes before dashing into a fight.
*The comments I used to get because no other horde got him (they get the outlands ones instead)
*He also allowed me and my dad to two man group quests.

I will never EVER get rid of him and I almost cried when I thought I had lost him (I had a glitch and he dissapeared...I blamed my Devilsaur...I swear he ate Kre :S)

- Apollyon's green scales match my hair almost to a "t"
- I have never been so excited to tame a pet in the five years I've played, it was a rush I'll not soon forget
- I lost sleep over him...literally
- He works his butt off in every situation, and never lets me down
- I work my butt off to make sure he stays alive because I hate to see him die :(
- I love how he stomps when he eats his food
- It's fun to watch him go nuts on a boss such as Tharon'ja, when we're all the little skeletons and he's still critting the boss like mad
- Devilsaur + BW = win
- He's incredibly possessive of me and only reluctantly lets my husband get close :P

Basically, it all boils down to Apollyon being the best pet in-game, hands down. I don't care what Cataclysm brings, this devilsaur thrashed his way into my heart where he will remain. <3

Ximbol has never been able to keep one pet by her side. She always seems to release one to try out another. She does though gravitate back to Blue (blue/grey raptor) every time. Can't seem to be without Blue for too long.

Bitka though loves 2 of her pets. PMS (clutchmother) tallstrider runs by her side for dungeons and instances. Seeing her kick up that cloud of dust, and relentlessly pursuing her target puts a smile on Bitka's face. She got her at level 20.
Knockdown (orange ravager) is her favorite companion for the BG's that she runs. She loves watching him bowl over her opponents. She got him at level 10.

Doubt Bitka will give up either of these pets. :-)

My raptor, Rafa, totally snuck up on me. I just wanted to try out a raptor for raiding and grabbed one of the black ones from DtK because I wouldn't have to level it...

He's so protective, he oozes it. I just feel safe having him by me.
He's warm and smooth. Kind of like the penguins in San Diego Zoo. :D
He's super stealthy yo! Must be the charcoal grey, he just blends in. ;)
He loves Sara soooooo much, he'd do anything for her. It makes me so sad when he dies, I always feel a pang of guilt like I should have mend pet'ed faster...

This is Kegan. And Dara, and Emmit the ram, I guess, but Mostly Kegan.

He has been my favored companion since I tamed him in my mid-30s with the help of some blood elves. He was 16 then, and was a royal pain in the ass to level. I'd never had a pet so many levels below me. He died often, whined for food more often, and generally made my leveling life painful until he finally caught up. He even once attacked the Southshore stable master in apparent revenge for me stabling him, causing me to flag for pvp in the middle of a horde Southshore raid. More than once I thought of just releasing him and going back to my black lion who was only a few levels below me, but I never quite could. The goofy creature was starting to endear himself to me. And then he finally caught up, and it felt right having him, like we were meant to be.

Since then, he has been at Dara's side through thick and thin, terrible groups and elite quests we probably shouldn't have tried soloing. He has tanked instances, tanked Cairne Bloodhoof (although only for short time after our tank died, but long enough to finish the job), rep grinds and silly holidays. There was a time when my guildies were sad when I didn't bring him along, and cheered when he arrived.

Even now that my stable is full of shiny new toys and an actual tanking pet, Kegan is still the first pet that comes to mind when I think of my hunter. He is a protective goof of a lion, and he will be with her until the end.

Just had too,

I hadn't decided on a pet per say... I had played Hunter's before and just could not decide what I wanted this go round. I had a quest in Silverpine minutes after hitting level 11 and grabbed a generic Brown bear in passing just for protection. I didn't pay any attention to the poor thing at first. Heck I didn't even feed it because I imagined he'd be long gone once the quest was done, but again I kinda forgot he was there.

Red faced from no food and forgotten by his master running along the roads of Silverpine he still ran onward. I was checking my questlog and didn't notice where I was going and blundered into a camp of worg's. The bear immediately grabbed all the aggro off of me. He was down to half health and I almost thought about running off until the aggro dropped, but then he dropped one worg solo. I just couldn't stand there and let him die like that so I pulled out the bow and jumped into the frey...

I remembered to feed him after the fight. I still didn't want him really, but decided he was worth keeping while in Silverpine. Two levels later this insane elite Worgen jumps me and again the dumpy bear saved my butt and died so that I could beat a hasty retreat. After that I told myself I'd keep him just until I found the right pet for me. Since it was his swipes that had saved me so many times I named him ThunderPaw. Levels went by and I'd run out and get new pets putting ThunderPaw in the stable, yet the new pets never lasted more than a couple of hours before ThunderPaw was back along side me. I tried extremely hard not to like the ugly, plain old brown bear, but he just grew on me. Now I compare all the newly tamed pets against him and they never ever measure up...

My friends and guildmates always ask when I'm getting rid of the dumpy bear, but if he doesn't show up they privately message me asking what happened to ThunderPaw so I think they all secretly love the old guy... A buddy plays a druid and I swear he heals ThunderPaw over me sometimes. And as for feeding..? I think he would eat ooze without any complaints... Buying pet food..? Yeah right..!

That's how the right pet can sneak up on you by accident I guess... I was all set for some sleek, sexy DPS pet and I got a lumbering teddy bear named ThunderPaw... Wouldn't trade him for the world...

I loved reading your story Roonok! It is interesting how certain "trash" or "temporary" pets end up squirming their way into your heart. :D

Thanks,

Aye... He's an ugly sort. Dumpy and plain nothing special at all, but I'll put him up against anything else out there any day. I've told myself a thousand times I was replacing him and I always end up missing him in the end. I tamed a shinny new raptor the other day and all I could think about was not hearing the bear growl when I pulled a mob. It's weird how we get use to a particular pets actions and sounds. Needless to say I found myself marching quietly back to the stables to get ThunderPaw back out... /facepalm...

Aw, that's such a sweet story Roonok. ^^ I love hearing things like that. :) I've always found bears to be surprisingly lovable. I never really thought I'd like them, but on multiple occassions I've ended up taming one and loving it.

My favourite was my diseased black bear, Grudge, who I had to let go of and always regretted. I'm pleased to say he's been 'reborn' as my Arcturis now though. :D

I love Hahadori, my tallstrider.

Image

~She's a pretty bird. Her plumage is a bright teal and orange so she sticks out in a crowd.
~She has a fearless cry when charging into battle.
~Always calm in battle, she will sometimes do her idle preening animation in the middle of attacking.
~She is the queen of all she surveys. She always gets to sit on the LK's throne.
~She tanked Hakkar back at 60 (warning old screenshot) which made her more well known than me.
~My guild always asks where she is if I bring my wolf to raids instead.
~Some of my guildies even fight over her affection, and she's ICly married to our priest (long story don't ask).
~She isn't my pet; I'm her pet.

I love my Springpaw Lynx only because of one reason; it's unique. It's not a dull color, it's not a generic tiger or leopard, it's not ugly. It's a perfect balance.

I love the way my hyena bays as he goes into battle like a big hound dog.

I like how that analogy makes me giggle because hyena's aren't even canines.

I love they way he runs back to me all bouncy and proud.

I like that whenever I run into someone else with a hyena we stop and chat, or at least wave at each other.
