Every new rare 4.0+ i haven't camped. all went on a feeling.
When 4.2 launched i was on my way to turn in my marks when a friend tell'd me and said this rare spawn was up and asking if i wanted to kill it. turns out it was Ban'thalos. i told her it i was one of the new hunter pets. she then tried helping me tame it. we tried to tame it ourselves with no help from sites. but then my computers like "SO I HURD U WERE TAMING A RARE?" then decided it was time to update and shut my pc down. came back to her offline. so i looked online on how to tame him and did it. that sparked my interest in the new rares.
So i got my 20 marks and went in Molten front. did my dailies and as i was leaving i saw something catch my eye behind all that fire. it was Kirix. i proceeded to spend 6 hours trying to learn to tame him. (at this point no definitive guides where up) About 5 hours in a hunter rolled on by killed me and kept me dead and tamed it himself. guess it was okay cause it was about 7 am and i haven't been to bed. so i went to bed.
Came back later on and he was up. spent about 30 min trying to figure it out. then some random person tell'd me about the 100% buff and Corehound method. a few embarrassing jumps to the rock later i land him. Shortly after i just randomly wonder over there to see if anything was up. There i met Skarr. tamed on my 2nd try. glad i got him when i did cause hes now the most camped rare on my server.
Later on browsing these forums i came by the rare map and memorized all the spawn areas. so every time i'd get that feeling id pop in and use my eagle eye macro. one time spotting Deth'tilac. i then rushed over and tried the pet dying method, i was solo so this was kid of tricky. So after getting frustrated i decided to kite him to the base so he can 1 shot the NPCs. he got down to 20% health and i goto tame. but turns out i had an active dead pet. so i try to revive but he gets to close and i have to back off, so i get farther back and start to tame. he jumps to 10% hp at about half the rez and ended up dying just before the rez was complete. pretty ticked, but i had the others so it was like...whatever.
Come around time when it was time for everyone to get in. (I caught the daily reset bug) i pop in, do the dailies and when finished ran over to see if skarr/kirix was up just because i like helping other hunters tame so i go over and whisper local hunters of them being up. and spot Karkin on the rock. tame him without a hitch.
As for the other rares i have got so far Anthriss/Solix, i just happened by Anthriss and knew his method. first try. not a big deal since he shares a model with the ones above. Solix i noticed just chilling in the lava tried and went for him. 4 deaths later i got him in a good kite but for some reason i thought he was one i had to get to X% hp and not energy level. and killed him. came back later knowing how and nailed him.
Oh and almost forgot Ankha, the pet that got me into liking BM. I was just chilling in org and was like "I want Ankha/Magria" so i ran to the portal and as i was flying into the Sanctuary of Malorne i see a cat running around. I instantly darted over there and got nekked and got her. glad i got there when i did cause there was another hunter there, but didn't know the armor thing. lucked out on that one.
And just last night i got Terrorpene. i was doing my dailies and was heading to the roost to kill the 6 fire dudes and got a little to the left and was in the lava area. So i figured while i'm here ill fly over, sure enough he was up. got him first try. I could have just went and did the daily, but something told me to go over there. Glad i did cause i have been wanting Terrorpene.
So in the end i haven't camped a single new rare. all went on a feeling/luck... Sorry for the huge wall of text and horrid grammar/punctuation. I just felt like telling people.
