Server resets and Rare Spawn Timers...

Has this question ever really been answered? Does a server restart affect an in-progress spawn timer? I clocked Deth's end of tame at 8:55 last night (est). Woke up at 3 this morning to start camping at the start of his window. Coming up on the 12 hour mark, that accursed yellow text pops up in my chat window "Server Restart in 15 minutes."

.... Did my Deth spawn timer just get junked?

I've never really found a straight answer to this question... but, 5 hours of invested camping + my weariness + boredum = anxiety in regards to a certain purple spider's spawn timer. I'd kind of like to know what people here have heard.

It just kills me because his window normally falls on a time I'm at work or a time when I'm raiding or sleeping. This was the first chance I had at it legitimately.

I've heard variants. I've heard of some people starting a tame only to get booted from the server and log back in to nothing at all. I've heard things where they are still siting there after restart.

I'm currently on the hunt for Madexx [Green] and it seems like my timer is off this morning. I've seen him religiously the last two days at the same time and now it looks like he's late. The mainstream thing that I have heard, however, is that these realm restarts don't affect the timers, but a full server maintenance day will.

That's just what I've heard...

I did see Kirix spawn about 5 minutes before a server restart (much to a camper's dismay) and not reappear when the realm came back up... I felt bad for her. But, that's while the mob is physically in existance on the realm.. not just a timer. Which makes me Want.. SO Want.. the timer to be unaffected. I'm only giving him another 15 minutes at most, and then I'mma go start my day.

Personally put more time into Madexx than I thought I would... camped it for about three days on and off and, luckily, after being threatened by being burned to a crisp by Deathwing not once, not twice, but THREE times, I finally got to see Madexx. AND, it was the color I wanted (red). I was ecstatic. ^^

Spawn Timers *used* to be 'reset' with the server reset. It's why you would see a specific five rares up after every single server reset immediately. Those five are no longer up with the server reset, so either they just shifted the spawn timers, or they've adjusted it so timers aren't 'changed' with resets.

I would assume... and this is only calculated observation and assumotion, *NOT* anything but... is that a server reset starts the timer to spawn. I.E, every server reset, you get a 5 hour (as an example) window of nothing, and every hour after that an increasing chance for 'insert rare here' to spawn. Once the rare is killed, it's set back to that window, and then the increasing chance. A server reset clears all spawns, and when the sever comes back up, spawns are... well... spawned. They're not 'saved' from where they were *before* the reset. They're just spawned again. Which is why, after a server reset, the rares aren't up if they were up before.

TL;DR: if you go rare hunting before a server reset, do it fast, because anything that was up won't be up after the server has reset.

I got lucky this morning. Anhka spawned just minutes before the restart, and I managed to snag her. I was alone when it happened. I saw that just after the server came up, the spot was clogged with campers. Counting my blessings.

yeah i believe they do i was camping for ankha/mag and it was going pretty long into the timer. The server resarted and 10 hours later mag spawned which i think was after the inital 6-17 hour spawn timer
