Need Cool Looking Raptor and Wolf
Hey guys,
I've been on a kick with my hunter! I tamed Sambas and Terrorpene within the last two days, and now I need to replace the other 2 pets in my stable, the raptor and the wolf. But I want them to either be rare or unique looking, and I didn't really find much in terms of either. So I was wondering, what do you suggest for the raptor and wolf pets I want?

I can't say much about the raptors(I just like them to match my gear >_>), but there are definitely some wolves that are neat.

The color changers are fun though especially if you like to switch it up
My personal favorite is the oil stained worg.

There are not any unique rare raptors. The rare green Ravasaur Matriarch shares her skin with only one common mob, though, and is rarely tamed.
You have a lot of choices for wolves. There are many non-rare wolves with unique skins: Ironjaw, Ripp, The Lone Hunter, Bjomolf. For unique rares, there are Deathmaw and Old Cliff Jumper.

Re: Need Cool Looking Raptor and Wolf
Wolf-wise, I'm personally fond of the white worg model. It's shared by three rares, and by a beast you can only get in battlegrounds. So it's a nice, rare pet. The armored wolf as well, as mentioned, is something people don't see too often.
As for raptors, I'm most fond of the black raptor skin. Goreclaw and the Venomhide are the only raptors with that color skin, and it just plain looks stunning, IMO!

Re: Need Cool Looking Raptor and Wolf
I'm not much of a wolf person (Or a raptor person, for that matter), but I do find the black/purple skins for raptors very nice, and the "New" raptor models I enjoy the green ones, and the blouish ones. As for wolves, I'd suggest an Oil Stained one, or maybe the armored Hellfire one.
Thanks to Vephriel for this awsome sig

I suppose swordhead wolf would be unique now (I suppose it was anyway, being the only transparent wolf).

Re: Need Cool Looking Raptor and Wolf
Can someone post a technique to getting the oil stained wolf? I've been trying and trying, but I dont know what works for sure in 4.2. So somebody who knows, please post the relevant info.
Re: Need Cool Looking Raptor and Wolf
From another thread regarding the method needed to tame this properly.
It's difficult and it will take a while, but it can be done. Helped a friend of mine tame a flaming boar this way. Took a couple hours, but we got it.TygerDarkstorm wrote:The idea behind the kill/revive method is that you time your tame to correspond to the same time as the pet dying (generally from something like serpent sting or immo trap), and right as it's about to die and your tame is about to go off, you start spamming revive pet. I'm not sure if you're supposed to log out right away and then back in, or if you're supposed to try and tame another pet regularly first to test if it worked.Kiantia wrote:KiLL/Rez MeThOd?labnotes wrote:Yup it doesn't work anymore and I'm kind of pleased they fixed it because it was just too easy to tame with pet abandon. On the other hand if you want a challenge the kill/rez method still works. This is the REAL way to tame pets with buffs and I can only encourage blizzard to implement this style of tame into the game.

Re: Need Cool Looking Raptor and Wolf
I found the guide on that method, http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic ... il+stained , but I had a question. Do I start taming as soon as I fire Serpent Sting, or do I wait for the first tick? Also I get the idea behind it, but I did like the guide said without gear on and my wolf was always .5 seconds off of a tick between the Serpent Sting DoT and my tame. And the wolf is nowhere close to dying.
Edit: Lovely. I found the ravasaur matriarch, dismounted, and the pet I had out killed it somehow. Here's to waiting at least another 6 hours!

Re: Need Cool Looking Raptor and Wolf
I just tamed a raptor ... though its just the ordinary Southern Barrens one, the unique thing about it is that its just a flame patch in the ground >:) Took a while and a friend to help with it. It just needs ur friend to have "Sowing a Solution" quest and timing. Start taming a raptor and just throw the seed as its about to be tamed... Then start the revive spam. If u start casting the revive pet, u probly got the pet
