Scott Pilgrim vs the World...
I don't really feel like this is so much the "Post-Modern" era as much as its the "Pre-Zombie-Apocalpse" era. I consider myself more of a forward thinking guy and an era that just won't die is just as feasible as a coming era, where the dead come back.

Bleh...saw the first few seconds and had to stop because I really don't like that actor. Ugh, I don't really know why, but I can't stand his voice or acting....and I hate movies with him in it. He ruined Zombieland for me with that cheesy craptacular 'romance' plot they had to inject.

Do yourself a favor and watch about 30 seconds in. Then you get to see him get his ass kicked... Lol, alright...I'll try to put up with his face for that long. xD
And I would have loved Zombieland if it wasn't for
a) That actor
b) The fact that they just had to throw in a teen romance subplot to ruin the whole thing. If they had just left it with zombies and killing it would have been fantastic.

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs the World...
But... but... thats non-formulaic and not profit condusive! They trickle guy humor in chick flicks to keep our attention and force romances into action movies for the girls (which eventually becomes a perfect excuse for a sex scene and who doesn't like to see two+ perfectly formed people "artisically censored" banging away at each other)... There's even "token" people that include genders/ethnicities/special interest groups to diversify the viewer base! It... it must be done! Then for the preview, the choice parts of the movie must be cropped into a blur of images vaguely telling the same story that they'll then sell to you for 15 bucks and two perfectly good hours of your life...Vephriel wrote:Lol, alright...I'll try to put up with his face for that long. xD

Yeah...I'm hardly the average 'chick' though...I hate cheesy romance stuff, I'd much prefer to see a gore filled intense action movie any day.

I'm with Veph here...
I absolutely can't stand this guy and I even haven't seen Zombieland yet. That's because I heard about that teenie-love-crap that will definitely ruin the movie for me.
How can one director or writer even think about something like young people falling in love when all hell is breaking loose, the dead walk the earth again and your next mistake can be your last? *shakes head in disgust*
And this trailer looks so... I dunno... Stupid? Extremely exaggerated?
Meh, maybe I'm just to old for that...

Do yourself a favor and don't see Zombieland then Kara....it's the biggest disappointment I've experienced in a long time. -.- I was fully expecting to go in to some badass hilarious zombie movie....and then they just had to mess it all up. There's definitely some good parts, but overall I wish I hadn't spent money on it. =S

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs the World...
OK, that came to late!
I've seen it now!
Honestly, it had a very good setting and it somehow could have been so good... Even with that love story thing going on.
But they blew it when Zombieland was just a background for a love story when it should have been the other way around. A love story in the background of Zombieland!
Look at "Shaun of the dead"! They made a funny zombie movie too, only that one is working!
I don't like Woody Herralson, I don't like Michael Cera, not even Emma Stone turned me on!
And honestly, I really wonder when there finally will be an explanation to the "zombies won't attack zombies" when a) it's said to be a virus and b) all they are after is fresh, human meat.
Make them be the walking dead with no explanation at all and I'm fine. But this way? I don't get it!
*sigh* And another good idea went down the drain...
And the worst is:

Source: IMDB
They are making a sequel!

Oh... uhm... Are we hijacking this thread?
Sorry...

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs the World...
You'll notice there isn't a Shaun of the dead 2... because when you do it right the first time, you don't have to go back and make it better.
Shaun of the dead was EXACTLY how you make a cool zombie flick. If you watch the movie with "Zombievision" on (think its in the commentary menu), you'll have something like "pop up video" happen in the captions where they will inform you why someone is named something or where the music came from, etc... when you watch it that way, you realize how much that movie is a homage to all zombie movies.
As for Scott Pilgrim vs the world, I'm kinda interested in the whole "from the director of Hot fuzz" business. If you've ever seen Hot Fuzz (same guys as shaun of the dead), you'll notice some damn sharp filmwork. Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead are both a part of my library and come out every now and again when I need to entertain someone (or myself) with that level of awesomeness.
We'll see how it goes. I've definitely seen worse/cornier Anime/game stories and I laughed and loved them based on the perspective of "just relax and enjoy it for what it is"... I do have to admit, the older I get, the less I appreciate the younger "awkward" roles that are portrayed in movies these days. I guess "awkward" is the new cool or something... crazy kids...

Re: Scott Pilgrim vs the World...
Zombieland wasn't Michael Cera, it was Jesse Eisenberg.
That said, I'm sick of Cera being this spineless, awkward, Hollywood-geeky kid who gets all the chicks in every movie he's been in, but the special effects are nifty and the fact that it's from the Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the Dead guy (two of my favorite movies) makes this look like something I'll be seeing. Maybe when it's in the Redbox.

Not the same actor in these movies?

Damn! You're right!
I so apologize to Jesse that I have mistaken him as Michael.
But he too is a bad actor...

Oh wow. >.> Totally didn't realize that either. xD
Oh well, I dislike both of them then, so it doesn't really make a difference.
