It's a mob scene out there and generally rares get mobbed and either tamed or killed within minutes (or seconds) of appearing. But last night I get an actual phone call that Solix is up, so I run in and make another go at it.
I get there before any other hunters (good). But the daily that releases all those mobs is unlocked (bad). I must've died a dozen times between Solix gleefully avoiding traps and my getting randomly tagged by extraneous mobs and stunned (and then eaten alive by angry firespider).
On top of that, a couple of Horde morons (mage and paladin) kept trying to kill him, but thankfully, he hits like a bullet train, so I hope they enjoy their ruinous repair bills.
Then another hunter shows up. She had about as much luck as I did at first (including those same dumbbutts trying to kill him while she was taming... even though she was a troll... ) but aside from one pretty good go, she was barely getting halfway around a pool before he killed her. (I had to sit and wait because at that point I was literally on a 2m rez timer from all the dying. x_x)
Anyway. I FINALLY get my sorry ass back alive, and on the verge of giving up, give it one last try after the troll dies again. And for once, I don't get facesmacked by those damn fire elementals, and he actually hits my bloody traps for once. I'm also infinitely grateful that once he reaches tamability he stops hitting like a speeding semi because ouch. >_o Anyway.
GREAT SUCCESS - HARDMODE STYLE.

He got named Ember because Aren is not much of one for going too far afield for names. But hey, it fits.
