Re: Am I the only one?
Pretty much everyone on the forums except for me wants one of the bone hounds, no worries there. Firehawks are kind of divided - some people hate them, some people love them. I wouldn't really want one as a pet, but I'd like a firehawk mount that doesn't involve raiding until I die. :(

Pretty much everyone wants to see them tameable, even if they don't personally want to tame them. But the developers do not, unfortunately.
They're considered too fiery and elemental to be tameable beasts. It's the developers' decision of course, though I personally disagree in this case. In-game themes certainly belie their assumption. The Molten Front quests (i) go into depth about how much fire hawks are like normal birds in character and (ii) actually involve taming them for use by the offensive. Similarly, char/hell hounds are used as tamed beasts by the hunter NPC Shannox (though in this case perhaps it could be argued that salamanders are fire creatures so they have a special affinity).
Apart from that, I think it's missing an amazing opportunity to exploit the major theme of the expansion (elemental planes), and learning the ability to tame beasts from various elemental realms could very easily be slotted in as rewards from gaining faction rep or dailies token grinds.

I'm sort of iffy on the whole idea, mainly because seeing a constantly glowing, bright red pet will distract me almost instantly. Also every Hunter will have, making the pet non-unique and quite boring to be honest. If they made them rare spawns, then it might solve the issue previous issue of every Hunter having one. I'd rather have the Gargoyle skin tameable. Bats need love too! c:

Re: Am I the only one?
Although the charhounds look cool, I dont think I could ever keep one as a pet. The neon outline that they have from every angle bothers me. It just isnt "WoW-ish" to me graphic/art wise. Its like taking a live action show and having a cartoon character thrown in...doesnt really mix.
The fire hawks though I really like. I would love to have one tamed, although a blue would be nice
. But I think they'd have the same issue during use that Ban'thalos has, in that its very sparkly/light-effect obscures targeting/view.
Same goes for the firecat model, I'd love to have that tamable, and since its lower to the gorund I cant see it having any issues that the birds have.

Re: Am I the only one?
Oddly enough, I couldnt care less about any of those. What I want is the fire worms. Worms are my primary pet since they AoE so well, and the new ones look really bad ass. Right now I use one of the fuzzy fanged ones from northrend. Another thing I would like to see tamable is snakes that actually slither, instead of the ones that remain upright...

Re: Am I the only one?
id live to see the firehawks tameable myself. Not sure about the hounds, mainly cause their pure bones. I know the birds are flameing bones aswell but..FLUFFY FIRE!
Re: Am I the only one?
When I first saw shots of them I thought the same thing. I later came to realize the design philosophy is that they're "fully-fleshed" creatures with fire for a body and stone "bones" as their skeleton. The firehawks have the same thing but the skeleton is hidden under the brightness so it's not as obvious. But if you strip away their fiery plumage you can see it. It's kind of like they're fiery relatives of the creatures from the plane of earth.Akyo wrote:Not sure about the hounds, mainly cause their pure bones.

I've long wanted to see the tunnelers given an aboveground model and made tamable.
Even just the "plain old" original from HFP would be sweet - as far as the lava version, personally I would have them remain untamable BUT have a tamable rare of that skin. Like how they did it with Terrorpene and Karoma. That way, the lava worm would be available as a tame - but only in limited quantities.
