Anyone else starting to hate Molten Front? (edited)-GOT HIM!

Every spawn I see of the gem pets, its always the damned crab. So many people on my server already have him because of this, and thus it takes a good 15-20 mins before someone can be found who actually wants to tame him.

/insert whine I want the big gem kitty already. I've been in here since the first day that we could (minus a week out of town) and I've never even seen the damned cat spawn. /cry

I've tamed Karkin for myself and to practice for Skarr. And he is pretty, but I am getting really sick of seeing him spawn.

And because people are just so lovely, there are a bunch of hunters who run around here with their tamed Skarr out and set off my NPCScan. I politely ask them if they wouldn't mind using another creature out here, as I am trying to camp him and they keep setting off my NPCScan with their own, and a few are nice enough to stop using him. Even other factions can be nice, I've actually made friends with a few horde hunters who were camping with me (as I move to my horde hunter and whisper them some).

Then again there are jerks too, nicely asked one BE hunter to stop using her's, she says okay and tells me she's put him away. I log, come back to my main and she is sitting there, pulling out five of the rares there-including the one I am after, just to set off my NPCScan again.

It is not even worth it to bother clearing it anymore.

I've had that NPC Scan thing happen to me too, and it's so annoying. Someone kept setting off my NPC Scan with her Skarr and I finally asked politely in General if whoever was doing it would please switch to another pet so I didn't have to keep clearing my cache.

Some other hunter raged at me about how I should just turn it off and how people can use whatever pets they want. I found out later it was a Night Elf who was doing it to be rude (she came up to me and brought it out again and jumped up and down on top of me), and I'm Horde, so I couldn't say anything. >.>

I had people do the same thing with their Kirix and Deth, and I don't understand why people need to be so rude. Is it so hard to switch pets when you're near a spawn point so you don't set off someone's NPC Scan? -.-

Good luck with Skarr! You'll get him, and when you do, you'll end up liking him even more. ^_^

I get it, you love your freaking pet... I've loved so many of mine... but can't you give a thought to how YOU felt sitting and waiting and freaking use any other pet for these dailies? You've got the whole rest of damn Azeroth to use Skarr in... at least for the first few weeks...

I'm getting to the point though that I am ready to just pay for a faction change to a lower populated area. Somewhere has gotta be better the Garona. Like a new server-that would be amazing, could just run right in and wait with little competition. I don't need a big social life. O_o

What gets me the most is how often I've seen Karkin now. Its getting really old that he is the predominate spawn of the two on my server.

I feel the same way for Mag, only in my case, I have a large group of hunters who all say they haven't seen any Ankha's, and only Mags. In fact, I've never even seen an Ankha tamed...

I know, I haaaate when people keep the rare's name and then jump around on their spawn point because they think they're awesome. That's especially annoying since NPC Scan will let you target the pet, and I get my hopes up until I see that the pet has buffs. -.-

I get loving your new pet, but some people do it deliberately to be rude and obnoxious. >:O

I admit to using any pet where ever I want.. However, I never hang around spawn points for the hell of it... Nor do I name them the same. I'm also almost never the first people in the zone. Also.. I understand that npc scan makes things more helpful... But I've gotten Terrorpene, Loque, Krush, Aotona, Ghostcrawler, Skarr, Karkin, Solix... i think that's it.. without any rare finding mod... So I'm sorry... but I'm not going to let my play be affected by people who decide they want to afk and need an alarm... If I want to use my memorial pet Suki (my Skarr) in molten front because it makes me happy to think I have her back.. I'm going to.. Won't sit on your spawn point and intentionally try and set of people's scanners, but you don't want your play affected by me I don't want mine affected because YOU (used in the generic term, not directed at anyone in particular) decide to use a mod instead of a good old fashioned targetting macro/tracker hovering.

That said... I LOVE Karkin I've only ever seen Karkin once.. and I managed to nab him (there were probably a dozen of us trying.. and some people attacking... Someone announced his spawn in general.... heh), and I think Skarr's been up a few times, though I got mine on my first sighting... SO it's not like I've been looking for one or the other.

I've never seen Karkin... I've heard of a lot of Skarr sightings though. >.<

I hope you get lucky soon, though! It sucks to have the wrong thing spawn again... and again... and again...

Ah its just turning out to be a really bad luck day.

And as I write this my NPCScan went off again for a tamed Skarr.

Had both Solix and Deth-the one spider I really want-killed out from under me while trying to tame today. Also lost Kirix to another hunter, though I'm not too bummed on that one.

Just really..... not in a good mood. Been sick for days and I'm getting worked up every time my NPCScan goes off now.

Really just need to take a break I think. Though really, I'm about to just give up on him.

It is weird to see how each server behaves. some see one but not the other. I have seen 4 out of 5 skarr, 1 out of 5 karkin. I have sat, out of range, of a Skarr for a good 20 minutes before. He was at the lower platform of the steps, and I watched while hunters tried to tame him, warriors tried to kill him, paladins try to range kill him (lol@that), skarr blowing up players and npcs alike with a high stack of that buff. I just dont think many know how to properly do it :\ I can only educate so many.

As for using the rares as pets, I believe that gets a little hairy. I understand it is inconvenient, and if someone is bringing out the rares for the sole purpose of griefing, then thats wrong. But Im not going to tame an amazing looking pet, only to tuck it away in my stable. The majority of what I do is these dailies, and I want to use it because he is awesome. Now if I am passing through a zone or whatever, I will dismiss, but if I am questing, I use whatever pet I fancy. If thats skarr, or kirix, or ban'thalos, or terrorpene or whoever, I dont tame them to not use them.

Thats all well and good, but I personally think it is a common courtesy to not use a rare in an area you know others are looking for it. I have 24 other pets that I like, so I have no trouble finding something other than a rare spawn I know people want in the area they are questing in.

Not all of us park and use NPCScan to 'set the alarm' as it were. I sit with the screen up and watch, mostly because I am so OCD that I am usually afraid to turn away from what I think might be an upcoming spawn. I usually have the TV on and even then, I spent more time glaring at the screen and cursing Bliz for making things so bloody difficult then just waiting for NPCScan to go off.

People setting it off tick me off, but my biggest greif right now is that the danged cat just wont show up at all.

Which is always a good thing, to have a difference of opinion, or else we'd all be really boring. So I hope you didn't feel attacked.

Bah. Another hour at least if the respawn rate is really 2-10. Spawned about an hour ago. Trying to decide if I want to sleep or stay up and camp some more in another hour.

I don't have anything to do-I'm off of work and have no plans (we've already done our summer travel), so I could technically stay up and wait. I just cannot decide if it is worth it or if I should just give up already and wait a few months before trying again.

Personally i dont see the need for NPC scann in the molten front as they only have few spots to spawn on and you can see both those spots on you minimap by easily standing by the hounds below the island or by Dantes ledge or just throwing a Eagle eye out there.
Also. 50% of the hunters there have one rare out, it would be npc alarm fest if i still had that thing.

However i do understand you frustration. i run with track beasts on and when i see a named pet with the correct name on the minimap in the areas the rare is suposed to be i feel annoyed. I dont mind people nameing their pets its original name, Its just slightly annoying when that pet is around its original spawnpoint.

And yes. i too see Karkin more often than Skarr. WAY more often. But sins half of the horde here(prob alliance too but ive yet to see it) are uptight grief spawners the rares seem to end up dead half of the time, they also seem to totaly adore attacking you when your busy.
Its a pvp realm so i cant really do much about it. I just go to the other side of the daily quest area and rush finish my dailes, avoiding horde contact.

To stay up or not stay up and look for a rare.
I would say get some sleep. Skarr and Karkin spawn quite often. My suggestion would be, STOP. Dont camp. Get your dailes here and there done. Check if he is up before and after doing your dailes(and while if you can), take a brake or a soda. Do a bg/dungeon, look randomly between stuff.
This is how ive ran into most of the rares. Or when ive just desided to log on to do a lap then log out again.
I try to obsesse over a rare as little as possible, that way i dont get majorly frustrated when i see it freshly killed/tamed/tame interupted or see a pet with that name appear on my minimap.

And I just had Deth killed out from under me-again. I'm so bloody sick of this entire thing its not even funny...

And of course the people in trade are calling me a QQ'er and mocking because I get pissed off that some warrior ass decided to kill Deth while I was trying to tame him. I had the tag but couldn't keep aggro long enough to pull off the tame in the end.

I think if I had wanted any of the new rares, I would have waited a couple of months after the patch release before trying to tame them, just for the sake of my mental health.

I'm getting to that point now.

I got the three Hyjal SB within the first few days, but that was mostly dumb luck.

I went after Deth three times knowing I would likely fail, but I want him so I said what the heck I'll try. And I keep getting upset when I loose him.

As for Skarr.. I've not even seen him show up once! I'd like to at least see his spawn before I give up on him.

But I've had such rotten luck, I'm not sure I even want to try anymore with the looking for him.

I went into MF not expecting anything.

Deth'Tilac - for once I was in the right place at the right time, and none of the "bystanders" were griefers (or at least not good at it, if they were)

Kirix - another one that happened to be up while I was doing dailies, but in this case I fumbled the ball and decided to go for a broodling instead. Got one and never looked back.

Solix - this is the only 4.2 rare that I actually camped (that is, left a toon parked nearby and logged in now & then to check briefly - I don't "camp" in the truest sense of the word), and after a couple false starts managed to get him.

No interest in the non-unique spiders. Saw the yellow one's corpse once (huge spindly legs up in "spider death pose" sticking out of a lava pool or something).

Not really interested in the gem-pets either. They're not bad looking, just not my thing. Not sure why.

Magria - wasn't really keen on him or Ankha, but stumbled across this one doing dailies, and tamed despite epic clumsiness on my part.

Ban'Thalos - camped this one halfheartedly for a little while without success. but none of my currently-lvl 85 hunters really look "right" with him, so i took a break from it. might retry once my female NE makes 85.

I haven't really tried for deth for the reason mentioned above. Its a big shiny purple spider, it just invites people to attack it. and it takes much longer than an average tame, all the nonesense you have to do to get him tameable... that kind of prolonged activity attracts attention.

i cant set myself up for failure like that.

some possible stress relief, sit near a rare and watch people try to kill it and die miserably. that always cheers me up >:)
