Helping hunters tame Deth'tilac
To this day, I've helped 7 hunters tame Deth'tilac. This was both before and after I tamed him myself. I don't do it for payment or to watch them die, I actually help them. It gives me the warm and fuzzies to help other hunters tame this rare spider that gets killed more than he needs to. Just hearing them say "YES!" or "OMG THANK YOU I wanted that pet so much but thought I'd never get it!" when I've helped them tame it and they get the tame off is wonderful. I helped another BElf today and she also named her pet after me. Thats two Deth'tilacs running around my server named Sarantha. Haha. I feel honored that they'd do that when all I wanted to do was help. I usually afk to do other things and do it in Deth's spot in case he spawns, and got the idea to help out as many hunters as I can get Deth. I got him myself when no other hunters were around with a warlock helping me.
Does anyone else go out of their way, or like to help other hunters tame a specific mob? For me, Deth'tilac is the only one I'll sit and camp for other hunters. The others are just too erratic or require you to do it solo, pretty much.

Re: Helping hunters tame Deth'tilac
I like to help when I can! I can usually only play for 2 or 3 hours a day so after I do my dailies I make my rounds for rares. I've had 2 opportunities to assist people with Solix and 1 to help with Deth, and I'm sorry to say that none of those opportunities ended the way I wanted
The first guy that I helped out with Solix was taming him when a paladin ran in and killed Solix. The second time I was helping someone get Solix, I was on my druid using roots to hold him in place, as the hunter was taming two people started beating on Solix and he died
And when I was rehoming Deth (you can see my full post about this in the Rant Thread on page 9 I believe.), I got his health low enough for the other hunter to tame when I got my aggro stolen by an angry bloodelf hunter who tamed him out from under me and the hunter I was trying to help
But at least I try to be helpful, I just wish those hunters had gotten their tames

Re: Helping hunters tame Deth'tilac
I believe in karma, and I'm only paying back people who may or may not have helped me in the past, but either way, it just makes me feel good to rehome pets instead of letting them just die. I hate people who literally go out of their way to kill a hunter pet. When I announced Deth was up today, a mage whispers me and says she really wants him on her hunter main and pleeeeease don't let anyone else have him while she logs over. She takes awhile to get there, but no one has shown up yet thankfully, so she gets there and we start doing our thing and some other hunter gets all angry and says "why did you say he was up if you were just gonna help your friend?" I whispered him and said this was just some random person in general who said she wanted Deth really bad on her main and got here first anyway. He just said "oh, sorry" and then helped a little by sacrificing his own pet to Deth a few times.

Re: Helping hunters tame Deth'tilac
I help where I can. My 'friends' list on wow is mostly full of other hunters I've seen in the area while I camp. When a rare that I am not after spawns I go down the list, see who is on and start sending out whispers. I also mark names for those who are after the same thing as I am, and if I see a spawn will let them know the time at the least if I manage to get it.
Helped someone with a Deth tonight, had someone else help me with Deth this morning (though Deth killed me and himself instead of coming home with me in the end).
I've 're-homed' a ton of Karkin, as the damned crab is all that spawns while I am in game looking for Skarr.
I've also re-homed a Mag and have advised many a hunter on tips for all of the new challenge tames in game, Banth is the hardest to advise others on, as describing the treetop technique is not as easy as just showing it to them-which is not that easy either, lol.
If there is such a thing as karma, Skarr should be in my active pet slot any second now, lol.
Sadly no go just yet though.

Re: Helping hunters tame Deth'tilac
I try to help where I can. The first time I actually helped a fellow Horde hunter out, all three of us ended up dying.
She was not happy and I was distraught. I made it up by whispering her when I saw Magria up and got a screenie of her taming the spirit beast.

I've helped give 2 Deths a home and attempted to give a Banny a home ( See Poor Banny )

Re: Helping hunters tame Deth'tilac
I have helped out on 5 successfull Deth-tames so far, whereas one of them was opposite faction. It went well. There were to hordies attacking and killing, which I told not to kill, because the other guys was attempting to tame, and that he needed aggro to pull it off.
Happy hunters. ^^

I've rehomed Deth once to my good friend and Skarr three times so far. I've yet to rehome any of the others (haven't seen Magria, Solix, or Anthriss yet).

Re: Helping hunters tame Deth'tilac
Watched a hunter die twice on tame today looked like he had no idea what to do, so I thought I would give it a try, got the tag had a mage mate helping me, got deth low enough, clicked tame, wouldn't work kept clicking nothing happened, then I saw the hunter that died get the tame.
He just thought it was it was funny, was gutted all that hard work for nothing.
I didn't interfere with his trys.
Thought blizz fixed it so the hunter that tagged first got the tame.
So I guess in a round about way I helped lol.

Re: Helping hunters tame Deth'tilac
Whenever I see a hunter trying to tame a rare, I let them have it, and help as much as possible. I saw Deth up for the second time (first time he was dead), and remarkably there was *nobody* there. I waited about five minutes and nothing. Tried to tame him myself, but I wasn't really that interested, and when I died I didn't try again. I ended up having enough time to log on my Horde character, whisper my GM, and log back on my Ally to help him tame it. Nobody interfered or even looked.

Re: Helping hunters tame Deth'tilac
To add to this, I just finished helping the same BElf that lost and then found Deth tame Ankha just now. She was once again soo happy but said she was sad cuz she can't have too many Sarantha's in her stable. I lol'd and said to name her Katniss, which she did. Haha. Hunter Games ftw, no not a typo! Its so nice to rehome pets instead of seeing them murdered. So happy now. I also helped a NElf hunter tame Solix today. My hunter-helper reputation is spreading. I'm literally getting whispers of "will you help me tame *insert mob name here*?". Hehe.
