To the male orc hunter on Runetotem that ganked Deth...

Unread post by Sarantha »

No naming and shaming, but that was a seriously dick move. We did all the work, and you tamed him while he was tagged by our group. I reported you for harassment and griefing and hope you get a nice vacation, because what you did really was griefing. Me and that other hunter did all the work getting Deth's health down only for you to steal it from him. You're such a wonderful, kind person. The people in general chat tearing you up must have also made you proud. It was great being called all sorts of names by people who weren't even witness to what happened, wasn't it? I got three people to agree to report you along with me, so thats three reports of griefing against you, dickface. I wish I could name and shame you here, but I can't, so I will just blacklist you on my server's blacklist of gankers and griefers, along with a nice forum post on the realm forums about what you did, with screenshots of all the people saying you ganked the tame that we had done all the work for.

Thanks, douchebag. I hope you read this and regret your petty, childish actions, or get banned. I'm hoping for the banning myself. I will NOT help you if I ever see you in the future, btw. I have helped 10 hunters get Deth to this day (unwittingly, yourself, sadly) and am about to stop thanks to assholes like you. If I see you trying to tame any rare, I will make sure to either kill it or tame it myself even if I have it and then abandon it in front of you. See how you like losing something you worked for.

Rant over.

So yeah, me and another hunter were kiting Deth around and this guy comes in, does NOTHING AT ALL until Deth is ready to tame, the other hunter still has to dismiss the pet he was using the lower Deth's health, and this guy immediately starts taming it. Blizzard needs to fix this exploit right now. It is pissing me off. If the mob is tagged, DO NOT LET ANOTHER TAME IT FOR FUCKS SAKE!

Edit: Okay, so I won't grief a mob just because someone else did. I'm better than that. I was just angry. But I will make sure people know about this person and his guild already knows and they're not happy. Since I won't grief him, I can hopefully get him kicked out of his guild, since most guilds don't like thieves and gankers. I know I wouldn't want a person like that in my guild. An officer already said he's pissed at this person and will talk to the GM. So here's to hoping. I'm not an asshole, but I can be when I'm angry. I apologize if this offended anyone, but seriously, you all have to agree that that was a really mean thing to do to that other hunter, and me, when all I do is try to help people.

Yeah, this is terrible. Blizzard needs to do something about it in the very near future.

An easy fix would be that these rares that drop no loot are only accessible to hunters. Make them friendly to everyone and as soon as a hunter casts "beast lore" it flags it for the hunter to be able to tame. It should phase the mob and the hunter (and hunter's group mates) out so that there is no outside interference. Once the tame is finished, they phase back in. However, if the hunter fails the tame, then the rare phases back for other hunters to take a turn at attempting.

People are terrible and their true colors shine through in this game. It's disgusting. I'm just thankful for the few decent human beings left that show they are wonderful in game and out.

I almost ganked Karkin from this same guy about 10 minutes ago, but decided I'm better than that and just watched him fail and die and alliance hunter come up and tame him with ease. Sigh. Sad this dude spotted two rares within 2 hours. It may be a mean thing to say, but I am glad he did not tame Karkin and that the alliance guy did. He didn't deserve any other rare after what he did to us.

Wow reminds me of today, I saw Banny for the secnod time only for some griefers to kill him. I ranted in General chat only for people to defend the griefers. Something needs to be done fast. This patch is bringing out the jerkfaces in people...

They DEFENDED the griefers!? At least when this guy ganked Deth, people tore into him and started calling him names I won't repeat here. Not a single person defended him, not even a guildie. They ALL agreed that what he did was wrong. There were 5 people who witnessed him doing this too, so more than just one person being "butt hurt" over a lost tame was what they said.

I hope this 5th ticket gets a response that I like...not just a "we're looking into it" response. They KNOW IT EXISTS but won't do anything to fix it.

You know, I saw the EXACT same thing happen on Icecrown about two hours ago, now. I mentioned it in guild chat, saying something along the lines of 'people have no etiquette' when it comes to taming. A certain non-hunter said I was a brat and that it wasn't just my game, it was everyone's.

Here's a vague quote of some of our discussion that I found hilarious and infuriating all at once:

[Warmech]: He drops 25g. What's the point.
[Non-Hunter]: 25g is pretty good.
[Warmech]: She hadn't even tagged the mob, so she got nothing out of it but the satisfaction of ruining someone's tame.
[Non-Hunter]: Well would you give her 25g?
[Warmech]: If it was a rare I wanted, I'd pay her more than 25g for a pet :/ Besides, it's a dick move to kill a mob a hunter is trying to tame.
[Non-Hunter]: Lolol someone has had their daddy take care of them all their life!

I had already explained that this hunter had tagged Ban, and was mid-way through a tame when the poor beast was killed.

Needless to say, after the things he called me (and my family, just... what?) before attacking another member (an officer, even) in guild about the issue, he /gquit when he realised he was fighting a losing battle and most of everyone had him on ignore for the moment. It's irritating because I had just met this person, he'd just joined the guild and generally speaking he seemed like a nice guy in vent (we'd been raiding FL not too long ago).

I can't imagine what the guild mistress would have done if she were on (considering she's had Skarr killed mid-tame 5 times).

It's stupid how stupid people are, sometimes.

So wait even if you tag Deth or Banny they can be tamed out from under you? Is this true? IS THERE A TAGGING GLITCH? Plz tell me there is not... >.<

If not then sadly it would be the person's fault for not tagging the rare.

I use to just tame not tag but if I'm doing the new 4.2 rares all the shit that happens and theft of even quest mobs has me taking the few seconds to tag then start the other trick taming stuff.

All-in-all that is still the most f-ed up crap. I know a get in ppls face in chat when they do that not matter what hunter has the tame ally or horde and no matter what toon I'm on.

They won't tell you what they do if anything to this dick if that is what you are waiting to hear back from them about. Other then that maybe Noah will hear all this kind of things and pass some of the suggestions along to the rest of the Blizz crew.

As effed up and heart bending as it is to see a person steal a tame or kill on out from under us/a friend/guildie I don't really feel the need for that drastic of a change. (Yes I had a 4.2 rare killed out from under me and another hunter while we worked at trying to tame it. And even though it was one I did not have on my have to tame list I wanted the Karkin when I saw him spawn and was trying to tame. Did it make me mad when this boomkin on the same faction as both us hunters trying to tame him kill him? Yes. And I whispered to him that he was a dick for what he did.) I think making them drop nothing at all would be another step in the right direction. BUT I know damn well and you guys do as well deep down that that and almost everything else they do will not stop griefing and ganking of rares if and when possible. Some payers are just that much of a dick.

Also it is a shame that you are letting this guy have another victory over you and the other hunts byt having you not be the awesome guy I read about on your other post on helping others get Deth. It made me even more happy when I had a guy willing to help me even if I offered him some gold for the help he still could of said no and I'd have not gotten Deth. Don't let him stop you from helping others like me that such at some of the trick tames and lose that chance. To me that is just letting that f-er win.

The patch is really bringing the worse out of people thank god on my server it seems minimal.

Question tho is Kirix actually killable? since I he kinda eats peoples faces of with the dot.

if not they should have made the other pets with similar mechanics. or perhaps something to think about something similar for future challenges.

But it really depends if blizz really wishes to make them unkillable (like ghostcrawler) or atleast very hard to kill then perhaps there can be some solutions:

For deth example they could have made it so that when it dethstrikes he/she only loses health if he hits a hunter pet or a snake from a snake trap it still means hunters can grief each other but it would make it damn hard for other classes to do only problem would be the ranges classes that can still kite >_> want to make it hard to kill? make it immune to all snares and slows besides besides the conc shot and trap.

for solix, anthiss en skitter at least would up there health dramatically like deth, all other spiders have like 400k while deth has in the millions.

Solix and Skitter need to be kited and respectively trapped anyway till there energy gets low so it wouldn't matter if they have millions of health anyway.

and since other classes cant trap anyway it would solve the skitter killing dramatically. it can still be killed but it would be way harder I think.

Solix can still be kited around by people that have snares or are ranged. want to make it unkillable or make it immune to all other snares or slows besides the conc shot and trap.

Anthiss same as the other spiders add a bigger health pool and make it 1-2 shot people.

Banny is on a good way with the damage it deals but it needs way more health like deth. I have seen the bird getting killed in seconds. people can still kill it if they bring a group with a healer but the solo killing will go down a lot.

And for Skarr and Karkin problem give them way more health. unkillable mode? Only hunter interrupts work.

Margia and Ankha same solution add more health, perhaps make the "Metal Cleaver" skill /melee ranged.
I know they cant be CCed but can they be slowed? and make them untauntable (like the pvp boss in magister terras )
if they cant be slowed it would make kitting quite a chore or even impossible and since the ability is ranged *cackles* if they can be slowed make then immune to slow.

you can still go kill it but it will take some time (since your nekkid) and if you want to take a group they better all be naked. or they have a great chance of being one shotted if they end up on the Mobs aggrolist :P

only point is if they would ever implement this the pets would be truly a hunters challenge since others cant really help you on them. unless its an other hunter :S

One can always dream right :P

But hasn't it always been so that you can tame a tagged mob, as long as you have aggro?

I got this from a GM when some one stole my deth tame

This is the latest response from Customer Support:
Greetings Dibz,

You are receiving this mail in response to the help petition which you submitted regarding your taming problem.

Tagging mobs only counts for issues like awarded kills or beeing viable for loot. Beeing able to tame a pet has nothing to do with it beeing tagged, thats fair game I am affraid.

But I can understand how annoying this can be in some cases, your best bet here would be our official forums, so you can see how other players think about this, and more importantly that our developers can see that this is an issue for the players and it can be changed in the future.

If you need further assistance, please press the button “Need More Help" below. If your petition is resolved, you can close this ticket by pressing “Message Read".

That is the exact opposite of my last two responses. They claimed it was a bug. They also knew how to spell 'being', not that a GMs spelling knowledge or lack of it matters. What matters is, if loot and such is considered important enough to warrant someone from getting the mob's loot that they make it untakable by anyone else, why isn't a tame just as important? A response like this is a spit in a hunter's face and just shows that that certain GM has never played the class or just doesn't care.

Okay listen, I've been lurking here since Wrath, and have noticed an increasingly disturbing trend in the attitude of hunters here; the sense of entitlement that makes you believe you should have a nice, pleasant, easy tame. Sorry guys, this game is called World of WARcraft, not world of Petcraft.

I understand many of you play on a PVE server because you like to avoid the conflict of fighting the other faction, but the fact of the matter is, assholes exist everywhere, unfortunately in greater numbers on the internet; wow specifically. By railing against them in trade, whining on message boards, and petitioning GMs that someone stole your tame, you just make us all look like a bunch of pet obsessed sissies, who want all the challenge taken out of 'the hunt!'

I know there is no greater thrill after weeks of camping a spawn, than outsmarting the opposing faction and getting the tame off before they do. It's not always griefing. If you saw another faction group killing a rare mob that you knew dropped a nice piece of loot, you would think nothing of rolling over them and taking it. Why is it so different with pets?

What happened to you sucked, but it's going to keep happening, no matter how much you report, or post in /2 or come here to complain. Your best bet is to just try harder next time. Let me ask, why didn't the group that was helping you blast this other hunter down before they could kill Deth?

Herin lies the issue.

Most people are having trouble with the new 4.2 tamables, if I'm reading correctly.
Fact of the matter is, these beasts don't drop nice loot. At all. If they did, I wouldn't have an issue because hey. I love loot as much as the next person and I'm not always interested in rare spawns.

These mobs were tailored specifically for hunters. That is why they're called the hunter challenge pets, and that is why they drop nothing but a 25g tear of loyalty with a pretty blatant message attached to it. If I tag a mob and am taming it, what 'loot' do you as a player get out of it if you kill it out from under me?

Nothing but the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you wasted someone's time and maybe a +1 E-peen.

Call us sissies if you want, you have the right. Just like we have every right to be angry if we're taming and some dickhead comes along and kills the mob in the process.

Sorry, my analogy missed the mark a bit. My point was that these are valuable. I'm not defending those who would kill them, but more suggesting that it's part of the PVP aspect of the game, and we hunters need to develop a thicker skin, and work past it.

True dat.

Also, not meant to be rude, but this guy was outright rude to his own faction. Since when are we warring against EACH OTHER!? If he were alliance, I might not have been so angry, but he was another orc, and another hunter! That just sticks in the pins!

Uh, world of WARcraft really only counts on PvP servers otherwise it's world of asshatcraft because I can't properly turn around and punch a griefer in the face as they rightfully deserve. Also, there's jack and squat one can do when one's own faction turns around and griefs you. :/ Apparently I have a knack for being griefed by human paladins.

That said, it's a crappy mechanic that someone spamming tame beast can get aggro over someone doing the work. We had a human hunter do this to a draenei hunter. The moron didn't realize molten will was up and mashed tame beast 10+ times. Well, guess who got the tame? The stupid brat of a human hunter. Sad part is, a lot of people didn't realize he stole it and gratsed him. :/

Heh, this is why I value having hunter comrades horde-side. Outsiders are within their rights to try and kill rares, but they'll meet their end to us before they can. :)

This is life on a PvP server. However, from what I've been seeing, the majority of the complaints/horror stories are from PvE servers, so there's not a whole lot that can be done in retaliation. And in some cases, there definitely appear to be some bugs with aggro, or "unforseen behaviors," if you will.

On the one hand, I understand where you're coming from, Yourhero, since I come from a low population server, but on some of these massive servers where these terrible tales are coming from, there isn't a guarantee that there will be a "next time" anytime soon, especially with the random pop pets. The challenge that the hunters on these servers face is greater than that which those of us on smaller servers face. Their frustration is justified, as is some of the severity of their reactions to these difficult situations. I do agree, though, that a lot of this behavior is to be expected in the first place, especially on PvE servers.
