Getting a group together to tame Chromaggus...

Unread post by Pantaloons »

It happend a while ago, but I still want to share my story, just to show a story on the boards that doesn't involve the new challenge pets. :headbang:

It took me nearly an entire week to finaly get on at a good time to get a blackwing lair run going. I would have solo'd it, but sadly I found myself needing at least 5 or so people that knew what to do on the first boss, and that could actualy access blackwing lair. the first problem was getting everyone in, and finding a warlock that could summon (this was before guild perks, so this was all we could do) My guild kindly offered to come with me, but they quickly became very impatient at actualy getting into the instance, so it was disbanded. so the next few days I tried my best to get a group (and trying to avoid getting any other BM hunters that had bad thoughts :3) and i FINALY got about 10 people willing to go and we got past the first boss. the real challenge came when we finaly got up to my new pet doggie staring at me just BEGGING to be tamed.

Before I knew it, everyone started attacking him! Even after numerous warnings to please for the love of god LAY OFF THIS BOSS, it still didn't seem to sink in, particularily to a Paladin who was very keen on downing him. After literaly spamming the raid chat with "please don't attack the boss!" He EVENTUALY stopped with chromaggus on 1/3 HP left, and he told me that I was dumb in thinking that a boss was tameable.

As I finaly managed to get his aggro for the tame, the Paladin must have thought I was trying to tame him and that it wasn't working, because he started attacking yet again! after threattening to kick him (god knows why I didn't earlier) he stopped once again and I finaly got his aggro and tamed him. (I was nearly dead by the time I finaly finished) The paladin was just like "...Wow, thats cool" and im like "you bet your horiffic raid skills it is!" :D by then I was ready to leave but I decided to stay for the final boss and got a nice achievment to boot.

And now, proudly being my only non-green pet, it is Pantaloons and his faithful pet doggie, Trousers.

I got a group with the sole purpose of taming Chromaggus and nothing else. After I tamed him, we were already at Nefarian, so I was like "why dont we just finish it? we're here already!" so I got my nice pet and an old achievement out of it.

I tried for a good while to get a group togoether to tame Chromag, or even a raid ID lock that had Chromag still up, but had little luck. I was down in the area to run my brother's lowbie toon through one of the other instances there, when a hunter who'd been watching me try to find a group whispered that he found one.

Damned warrior charged me 500 g for the run (which isn't that bad as I'd offered 1k in general), and one of the idiot players kept trying to kill Chromag. Easy to say that I let them wipe and would try again. Then the next time around the healer kept trying to heal me during the tame, and in turn pulling Chromag, and then the others would try to save the healer and get themselves killed again, lol! The warrior was ready to just kill him, claim a drop and refund my funds, but I told them no, give me another chance (I wasn't the reason that it kept getting messed up!)

I got my pretty pet after the third tame, thanked them all (thank goodness they couldn't hear the sarcasm or me cursing them in my head) and left the group. The warrior was still bitching about loosing his chance at something that Chromag dropped and I told them well maybe if I leave group and you all exit and come back, he might reset-I knew it was a hell no but it was what kept the warrior from ruining the tame again after I had paid them.

So I left group and had my new puppy about six days after they came out.

I remember going to get Chrommy when the patch was announced for him to be tameable. I helped my raid tank our raid shammy to do their dailies and then hauled them over to BWL. Yes. 3man. That's about it what it takes for the first boss, although he kept bugging out when the last egg was destroyed and just exploded the whole place even though he was no where near the platform. After the 7th try we got him down and the rest was kinda "lolzy".
Edit line: the first boss just needs an AoE taunting tank, a healer for him who can also dps on the side and the hunter who can nowadays be the only one who uses the orb, because if no mob gets to hit the user there will be no debuff

Red dragon - so much focus! What to use it for!?
Whelp room - "I can't get any damn heals through!"
Ebonroc and... the other black drake - okay I'll use my tanking pet to taunt when ever I can (the first one took around 15 minutes to kill because it kept healing itself due to the debuff thing was amusing though)
Chrommy <3

And Neffy of course with a lol okay now that's an enrage! All the skeletons popped back to life. XD My bow broke to 0 durability during that.
So much fun, I'd still want to run it a few times with my paladin for the tier pieces. <3

Now that the first boss has been fixed it's easily 2 manned with a healer - you dismiss pet and kill 3 guys on platform, then click orb to mindcontrol Razorgore and destroy eggs. The healer does nothing but stand in the middle of room and heal themselves, which aggros every single add. Once all the eggs are gone just kill Razorgore.

I'll have to try this. I asked a guildie friend to help me out and I felt horrible that we wiped twice trying to do it. Razgore died because we just couldn't keep the adds off him enough.. and the occasional "wups" when I was trying to kill adds while he controlled. Neither of us were very familiar with the dungeon, so it took a bit before we figured the control thing out. We didn't have a healer, he was on his mage. He does, however, have a priest that I may be able to borrow.

If not maybe I can arrange a BWL achievement day where I can tame it and everyone can get the completion achievement.

Ebonroc and the other drake can be skipped. We just ignored them and moved past into Chrommie's room.
