Depending on which RP you choose, you should look into the type, and possibly ask around! That's what I'd do

Re: pets for a female Draenei
I had my little drae tame a nightstalker as soon as she could-- the story was that she felt so bad for the ones on Azuremyst that are for the quest where you kill the infected ones. She became obsessed with finding a cure, refusing to believe it was impossible, following an uninfected nightstalker in the hopes of gaining some information that could help.
Of course, she finally came to understand that it was the shattered crystal, and that the ones infected would not be able to be healed, but the nightstalker she'd been following had come accustomed to her presence and he decided she was his. He and she were better suited than the pet she'd started her training with, and so Walker and she are a working pair, a reminder to her that sometimes you cannot fix what is broken, but that not everything in the universe IS broken.
I hope my story helps give you an idea on what you'd like your own Draenei to have as a pet-- there are so many in the starter zone that make neat pets that you can directly tie into the quests you do while starting out as a Hunter!

I just felt so bad myself, killing the poor sick tigers (yah, I know, NOT tigers, but still... -g-) that I wanted to find a way to work it into my toon's reality. ;D

Re: pets for a female Draenei
I find myself doing similar things.
For a long while, my only pet on my main troll hunter Mindala was a Durotar boar that she tamed; she still has it. That one was obvious; it was a beast she was familiar with, a type she'd grown up with, learned to admire its fierce protectiveness.
The second didn't come until she was on the other side of Kalimdor, when she'd been hearing tales of ghosts stalking the ruins in northern Darkshore. Ghosts of Elves, but also ghosts of saber cats. The traces of ancient horrors visited upon those who had lived there. Others sought to help or purge the humanoid ghosts, but Mindala started to wonder about the ghosts of those great cats, as a hunter she felt a kinship with them, a desire to help. So, she started stalking the ruins; killing the demons she found there, finding little cat figurines that seemed like traces of the ghost cats she sought.
And then one day she touched a cat figurine and a ghost cat attacked her. Instead of responding with fear and weapons, she met it with love and empathy; I know you're scared, great cat, and protective of what you had and what you have but I am not here to harm you, but to free you from these stones, to let you go wherever you wish.
She struggled with the cat, and the forces that bound it; and then something snapped, and the cat was free — it looked at her for a long moment, and then its ghostly form collapsed as if in death. Yet, oddly — she still felt a link to it. She knew the magics to restore life to a just-killed beast, and shrugged, and thought, "Why not?" and tried it — and it came back, still in ghostly half-life. And it never left her.
So now, they fight together, live together, the war-weary troll and the ghostly cat.

You should write this character's story online. Looks like it's going somewhere.Arisia wrote: Thank you! :: I love writing stories about my toons, but try to make them all make sense-- I mean WE all know about all the rares and cool pets in every area after we research, but I always wonder how our toons would know, and how they'd learn how to tame and care for them all.

Re: pets for a female Draenei
Thank you so much-- I write a lot from the perspective of my blood elf hunter main, but my little Drae is really growing on me; there is that mix of her slowly ebbing memories of a tech type past in the ship with this world she lives in now that really appeals to me.Heleos wrote:You should write this character's story online.
