Finally Kirix, stumbled across Solix, Skitterflame not likey

So yeah last night I logged into Kirix up (the main pet I'm after now after having Skarr and Ban'thalos already). I was one of a few hunters who were there trying to tame him. Well it didnt end well for me, luckily I had time to try about 7-8 times on him, but unluckily I ended up dying all 8 of those times. I tried the rock method a few times, and I would even have my tame-bar go all the way down, but then Kirix would "evade" the final part of the tame right after it finished. I think its because I would shoot him to grab his attention and maybe that damage or something caused the buggy rock to bug out. (i was told by another hunter if you're on a rock, just hit Tame to pull, no shooting, its how they did it at least.)

Anywho, After that, had a fun taming experience late at night. I fell asleep with the kiddos when I put them to bed last night and I woke up about 2AM wanting to play some WOW. Log into hunter on the ledge overlooking Kirix. My npcscan was mostly cached since I hadn't cleared it in quite some time, so nothing was popping up. I however saw a dot on the ledge and it was Skitterflame. After 2 fails on him already from past spawnings (both times other people eventually killing him). I knew it was my time! But I kept him in ice trap for too long and he ended up dead Oh well... At least I got 25g maybe...

Eagle Eyed over to kind of where Deth's spawn was and my NPCSCAN popped for those lil' cute Broodlings (the green ones that are tameable, I manually entered their ID into NPCSCAN about a week ago). I rushed over there and grabbed a little green guy. Finally I found them, I had seen Kirix 4 times total before even seeing one of them (how rare they are on my server recently). So I tamed one and then Solix's NPCSCAN popped. I had a full stable, so I rushed out to Aviana's place in hyjal quick to stable a pet, and ran back into where Solix was (still there waiting).

After one death and luckily it was completely dead at 3AM server time, I was able to nab him the 2nd go around. He's not hard when theres no one else around spawning those lil buggers. Just kept concussion shot up and ice trap. Det+tame and I got

So yeah fun times. Killed Skitterflame by accident (meh, maybe the 5th time is the charm), got Solix, got Kirix mini-clone. Overall happy on hunter today

Eeee congrats!! Solix is such an awesome tame! And I'm glad you got your Kirix clone if the real deal keeps evading you.

I nabbed Kirix actually this morning It was crazy, I logged in, first eagle eyed over to where Deth'tilac is, and he was up. I saw a single hunter tying to kite him (i've seen him there quite often recently) so I thought I would let him have a go at it. I eagle eyed over to Kirix and Kirix was up too! Both spiders up at the same time I ran over there and there were 2 Ally hunters, a fellow horde hunter, and I think an ally shaman or a priest that was trying to help one of the ally hunters. They were doing my mistake from 2 days ago (shooting Kirix first to grab his attention). I saw them fail about 3 or 4 times myself, so I sat waiting on the far rock which was the furthest out. Once Kirix killed them off I took my turn from the rock and got him

My problem was that I was shooting first to grab Kirix's attention. Its a bit buggy right now on the rock and its doable, but you HAVE to NOT shoot to pull him, otherwise he'll do the evade thingy. I waited for him to pat and I simply hit "tame beast" right away. With Ancient Hysteria up I didnt even need to deterrance (tame finished just before his toxin shot thingy). Without Ancient Hysteria you would have to hit Tame Beast, wait for him to cast the toxin, hit Deterrance (to cancel tame beast), then hit tame beast again.


After I grabbed him, the Pure Kirix and I went over the Deth'tilac and I sacrificed him a couple times to help the Ally hunter tame Deth. He was quite happy

Aww grats on your tame! The easiest way for skitterflame is dont use three freezing traps, most times it doesnt end well. Use 2 freezing traps and 1 ice trap, use scare beast in between if you have to but it should be just fine

Good idea, I'll use this next time. I think Skitter wont mind me trying to tame him again, I have only killed him twice and stood by idle once as I watched an ally kill him. He doesn't hold grudges. Heck he's killed me more than that anyways.

Squeeeeeeeee! Grats on Kirix-clone. He is the best pet ever and has the most amazing coloration. He is an amazing spider. I took mine out of his shrine in my stables and started to use him and I just love him more every day. I used the rock method and it DID work and I got the real Kirix (x2, because other people were failing and no one else really wanted to try anymore, I even asked in general). And of course grats on the REAL Kirix. I won't tame a clone because I feel they're insults to my real Kirix and the stuff I had to go through to get him (even though it wasn't that hard). Strangely, I DID pull with arcane shot to get his attention and he looked like he was evading, but my tame wasn't stopping or anything and he just got tamed and teleported up to me on my rock! <3 you Kirix/Loki!

Solix was a pain in the butt for me. Kirix and I were almost meant to be. I tamed in less than 8s with a corehound and haste pot. Solix though...ugh. I died to him about 8 times before I finally tamed him with the help of a friendly DK and her chains of ice and my nice kiting skills.

Skitterflame was easy. Just dropped the traps until the buff wore off, then tamed her.
