So Let's Talk About Talents

Cwrw, you are such a cutie-pie, even though you're atrociously violent. You're brilliant at PvP as well. What's funny is that I wasn't even paying attention when I specced you.

You boy, are lucky that Gwyn loves you, too.

Here's their talents. You know, I'm still not entirely sure exactly what was going through my head when I specced these two... though, admittedly, Gwyn's been with me for so long that idek what I was originally speccing him as.





You know, their specs really aren't all that different. Cwrw's specced for speed and damage, Gwyn's specced for damage and health. What's amazing is that this also reflects their personalities: Cwrw, the angry drunk, and Gwyn, the cautious and protective friend. Can't you just imagine how brilliantly they'd work together, if only they could both be out at the same time?

Funny how a few small talent points can make such a huge difference.

Anyway, tell me about some of your pets and their talents! Do you have two pets of the same species specced in different ways? How come?

I spec them the way WHU(WarcraftHuntersUnion.com) says is best for the best outcome. I havent been steered wrong yet.

(Spiders) I was going to spec Orpheus and Arachne slightly differently, one with more of a survivability focus and the other with a pure dps focus. (This would be for PvP specs; they have the same PvE spec in my PvE spec.) I ended up not doing it because I use them both so often and interchangeably that having different specs wasn't really necessary. And besides, I couldn't choose which one's personality would have been better suited for which role. x_x

(Scorpids) Perseus and Dante were easier; Perseus is specced specifically for PvP and Dante is definitely focused on tanking.

Ultimately, it depends on the pets, their roles, and their personalities.

I've had issues since WHU did a revamp. I can't find anything about speccing Tenacity pets on a non-BM Hunter.

Those shoddy, ineffective talent trees? ALL ME, BABY.

...Actually, those tress work brilliantly for me. Cwrw's last talent will be something that gives him a little more health and Gwyn will finish out Shark Attack or whatever. Either way, neither of those cats has let me down in PvE and both of them are targeted far too often in PvP (you'd be surprised how many people kill hunter pets before hunters, even though our pets despawn when we die).

Then you haven't read his latest garbage about how Surv is great and in no trouble at all (Oh, yeah, except that all of MMs attacks scale with weapon damage, 2/3 BM attcks scale with weapon damage, and 1 (2 if you really really want to count the not too oft used Arcane Shot) Surv ability scales- Explosive and Black Arrow do NOT scale with anything but RAP). Frostheim is an ugly parasite on the world of hunters.

For my DPS pets;

Last I read, Wild Hunt is buggy and is ultimately resulting in a DPS loss if maxxed out. The BM pets get ectra survivability talents simply because there are no real talents that directly increase DPS. Neither spec gets any hp/armour; they are dps pets and I use them as such (barring dailies), and since AoE dmg is already heavily mitigated, they are useless.

For my tank pets;

I much prefer using them in BM due to the extra 4 talents, but they aren't useless as MM.

For my PvP pets;

I'm inconsistent here, giving MM Boar's Speed and BM gets survivablity, but I don't use them to PvP with (I use the shale spider, and don't PvP as MM), so as long as they have the basic dmg dealing boosts, the extra "Ok, now what?" talents I could really put anywhere. I thought about Cornered, but again my pets don't take that much dmg, so it seemed wasteful.

Hehe, I used to spec some of my pets in accordance with their characters or personalities. For example, at one point when I had Old Cliffjumper (Stormfang), I imagined that as an aging wolf he wouldn't have the best reflexes, so I didn't give him Dash or Charge. And my vampiric wind serpent, Shiki, I gave Carrion Feeder since he could feed off of corpses. Just little RP-ish details like that. I don't so much anymore since I tend to use most of my pets for their maximum performance, but sometimes it's fun to spec them in-character just on the side when you're not in a dungeon or raid.

well Monica, that's a matter of opinion. He does a lot of min/maxing and if you read Scattered Shot's article, SV actually is fine, as Frostheim said as well. It's not the best. It's not the worst. It's in the middle. MM still does better than BM and SV but not by a lot. But that's another topic all together so lets save that for another time.

I beat out a lot of BMs that spec into heart of the phoenix.

Don't run Dash and Charge at the same time. It's fine to have both, but pick one, as using both nets you nothing but a major loss of focus to start a fight off. You can look at my Pet's Talents on my WoW Armory page here:

Ictus and Sirius are the 2 Ferocity specs i generally use, and as you can see, some of my older pets require a respec to match one of them.

Actually, I've never had a problem with my pet's energy. The only times I run out are when I PvP.

Frostheim is the worst possible piece of awful you could possibly listen to. He backs up his garbage with bad numbers that reflect what he wants you to think, and nothing else. The general judgement on him from at least the WoW board population is that he is very decieving with his numbers; the general public fails at math, so when he throws a bunch of numbers at them, they assume he's right. Can't read EJ? Well HIS numbers are all over the place and make no sense, but he's good enogh to name a cloak after, so he MUST be right!!

Know why Survival was nerfed into the underworld? HE was QQing about how high the damage was. Let's ignore it scales so poorly that even before the nerf, MM was heading it in raid gear. His latest BS post supported its numbers based soley on RAP scaling. But that isn't where our dps gets its biggest base, that comes from weapon damage. The very stat that it DOESN'T scale with! So no, it ISN'T ok. But far be it from me to try to steer you away from listening to a self-worshipping tool.

Hence why you spec into Go For The Throat and Sic 'Em! as these will replenish your pet's focus right off the bat as well; you will be critting enough to make this a non issue.

Honestly, since I hate survival to begin with, I really don't care what he says about it. I play BM and a bit of MM. Thats where my focus lies. He's been right with those two. So what if he makes a mistake? It's kinda rude to say he's utter garbage and really uncalled for. It's also really uncalled for to start being hostile over this too. Take a breather.
