Playing again and need some advice on pets from my peers.

So I am back playing, and I am going to not actively camp a certain green scorpion in hopes that I can get my WoW freshness back....

I am, however, going to try and get some of the newer rares and try not to stress over them too much.

First order of business is figuring out which pets to keep and which pets to get rid of to open up stable room.

I know that this will mostly be opinion based and I am 100% fine with that, but if there are pets that mean something to me I will note that next to said pet. I will also note (if applicable) why I have said pet if the pet is one of those "but why?" pets.

I am in BM spec most of the time (read: 95%).

This is just for my Horde character named Tapeworm on Area 52.

Ok... let's begin.

Black Scarab Beetle (with black streaming stuff when he runs around) - I only got him because he use to be a very small awesome looking beetle... now he is just a beetle that has a streaming black trail behind him.
Terrorpene - Not wanting to ditch this guy for obvious reasons.
Sambas - One of the pets that I am not overly gaga about, but it is sought after and a nice trophy.
Takk the Leaper - Got him because I wanted a raptor. Even though he is L.85 I am not 100% against getting rid of him. I have no wanting desire to have a raptor now, and Takk isn't that hard of a camp.
Ghostcrawler - He is a spirit beast, and I like the look of him.
Gondria - Another spirit beast... I have tamed him/her about 4-5 times, because this was my "throw-away" pet when I wanted something new before the 25 slot stables.
Skoll - I like him.
Arcturis - I like him.
Karoma - Yeah... I like him too... closest thing I'll have to the GTSW.
Loque'nahak - No way is he going anywhere.
King Krush - No way I would get rid of him.
Oil-stained Worg - Got him around the time everyone was getting "special" pets. I like him and he might be my only real "wolf".
Princess Huhuran - I asked my guild to take me in so I could tame her before I knew her skin was going to become "common". Not really happy with that and since I tend to like "unique skin pets... I am not that fond of her anymore. Unless I am wrong and she is still unique... I've been gone for a little while. (Yes, I can be wrong sometimes... it is allowed.)
Jadefang - I like the color and the model.
Aotona - I love this bird. It took me about 7 weeks of evenings doing circles in SB to finally nab it... it won't be going anywhere.
Olm the Wise - Tamed Olm after he had his makeover. I am not that attached to him, but I did get him about 2 weeks before I stopped playing and I do like his color.
Boar on Fire - (see Oil-stained Worg) I like him more than the worg though.
Gezzarak the Huntress - I waited for her to become tameable again and got her as soon as I could.
Chromaggus - Another "Hey guild... help me out!" pets. Not only do I like him, but I liked him enough to actually name him.
Silithid Harvester - Got him during a "the Green Madexx didn't spawn so let's go find something else green." boredom fly-by. I like his color, but I am not really that fond of beetles.
Corrupted Bear - (see Oil-stained Worg) I got him because he looks like Pepto-Bismal fume appearance. My only bear, but meh...
Blue Madexx - The scorpion is fine and all, but he isn't green. My second favorite color of Madexx.
Red Madexx - (see above) My third favorite color of Madexx.
Black Madexx - (see above) My fourth favorite color of Madexx.

Ok, that's all I have. I have had the Brown Madexx about 5-6 times, but I do not like his color or his non-uniqueness.

I am looking to weed out about 5 pets, and maybe more if I need to... so here is what I am looking for from the community....

Look at my list and name in order the 10 pets that you would get rid of taking in account what I said by each one... starting from the one you would drop first and so on... I know I said certain ones would not be dropped, but if you think they should for some reason then by all means tell me why you think that.

I am seriously not looking to upset anyone and I am not looking for an argument. I am only wanting opinions based on what I have given you. ...and please... no sarcasm. I can handle a little sarcasm but please don't tell me to ditch a pet you know I would be insane to abandon.

If you would rather list what I should keep going by what I have in order from "KEEP IT" to "Ditch it" then that is fine too... just let me know how you are listing it.

(Also, if you think I should go after any particular new rare then by all means let me know that too... I have been gone since late March or so and only know of a few new tameable rares.)

My vote for removals would be:

Takk - now shares with a common model (actually I think he might have been previously as well? Either way - common)
Huhuran - boss wasps are now mini-mini and don't look half as cool as they used to
Corrupted bear - I don't like the bear perma-crouch so...
Silithid Harvester or black scarab beetle - if you dont like beetles than one of these (at least) should probably go
Black Madexx - not unique; common versions are all over the place in molten front

For the record, Huhuran is still unique. Her *color* is shared by the other wasps, but her color on the boss wasp skin is unique. So, yes. Huhuran is still a 'one and only' in that way.

As for what I would consider getting rid of:

• Black Madexx: As you've shown, you're only interested in unique models. The 'black Madexx' model is, as mentioned, a common spawn now in The Firelands.
• Takk The Leaper: Again, as mentioned, he shares his skin. Both with a creature in Wailing Caverns and with King Reaperclaw, a quest spawn that is a fast respawn, and easy to get hold of. Plus, the 'even though he is level 85'... *everything* is now at the hunter's level. The moment you tame, they jump to your level. So they'll all be level 85.
• Black Scarab Beetle: If you have no interest in him now that he's not small, ditch him. He's not going to shrink again, and the 'black scarab' model is very easy to find.
• Silithid Harvester: Even if you really like this model, he's quite easy to find. Short spawn timer, and he's been up almost every time I went to check. He'd be the easiest to replace should you decide to.
• Gondria: If you have already dropped and re-tamed that many times, I would assume that means you don't have a heavy bond with the pet skin. You might find the other two 'new Gondria' spirit beasts to be of a color that catches your eye more. Check them out and consider it as an option.
• Corrupted Bear: The 'but meh' says it all. If you don't really like it, then keeping it around is just cluttering your stable for things you might like more.
• Sambas: When 'He is sought after' is your only reason to keep something, that, to me, is a good sign that you really have no attachment to the pet other than 'Ooo shiny'. I'm of the opinion that you should keep something because it makes you happy. If Sambas isn't making you happy, then don't bother with keeping him; there's plenty of other unique models that you might like.
• Gezzarak The Huntress: Unless you are strongly bonded with her, I would consider her as a 'potential drop'. She is not a rare, and thus you can get her any time you like by just farming up the pages and summoning. To me, she would make a good 'carry-along' sort of pet: the kind that you could abandon because you were surprised by something you wanted to tame and didn't have an empty summon pet slot (Ebonlocke is my go-to for this).
• Terrorpene: Yes, it's a unique skin, but you don't say 'I like this guy for obvious reasons'. You say 'Not wanting to ditch this guy'. That, to me, again reads as though you don't really like him, but you keep him because he's a unique skin. See my view on that under 'Sambas'.
• Olm The Wise: I'd consider checking out Ban'thalos and see if that appeals more than Olm, or if Olm appeals more than Ban. Two spectral owls in your stable (even if one is a Spirit Beast) might not be to your taste.

Now, what you should go for:

• Ban'thalos: If you are big on the unique skins, this one's definitely that. Plus, another spirit beast. And green! Bright, glowing green!
• Ankha/Magria: Both spirit beasts, and a different color of Gondria. One of them might appeal way more than the Gondria pink. Anhka's green, as a hint!
• Deth'tilac: You'll want to be prepared for patience with him, but he's a unique-skinned spider, and a very fun challenge-tame as well.
• Skarr/Karkin: They share a spawn, so I'm counting them together. However, they're both unique skins. I'm quite fond of the Karkin skin especially, even though I don't like crabs due to their special.

EDITED: Because for some reason, I pasted the 'scarab beetle' twice. I guess I *REALLY* think you shouldn't have it?

My vote for the pets you should perhaps let go are these:

Gondria: I assume your toon is male and for me her purple is something for either gay bloodelfs or female toons
One Madexx: I don't know which colour, but I would tend towards black as you like to collect unique pets
perhaps a second Madexx: Do you really need so many Tenacity pets? OR
Corrupted bear: same thing, you've go quite a lot of Tenacity pets
Ghostcrawler: you've also got quite a lot of spirit beasts, if you are going after some of the new ones I would let one of the old ones go, too (and Gondria ) - for me it was always the thing, that he makes these "cat-like" noises while stiomping into battle if you skill "Call of the wild", same reason that my Banthalos stays in the stables
Takk the leaper: The special ability of him is covered by most groups now, I personally don't like raptors with feathers/collars - he would also be easy to regain if you should miss him
One of the beetles: Tenacity again

If I were you, my Top 10 To Ditch, in no particular order really, would be

Black Scarab Beetle
Silithid Harvester
Sambas
Takk the Leaper
Gondria
Princess Huhuran
Olm the Wise
Corrupted Bear
Red Madexx
Black Madexx

- I would replace Blue Madexx with green when you finally get it and just ditch the rest
- I would replace Gondria with Magria or Ankha, whichever you prefer
- Sambas honestly isn't a huge trophy any more, he is everywhere, and perhaps along with Terrorpene the most common "rare" I see around now. No point if you're not that fussed about him.
- Perhaps toss up whether you prefer Olm or Ban'thalos, as they are very similar in appearance... Personally I wouldn't bother with having two spectral birds around but yeah
- The rest you don't really seem particularly fond of, but if you feel awkward about ditching them, abandon someone else instead.

Oops, yeah... I didn't go into too much detail about those two because I really like Terrorpene and he is my only tenacity pet I actually use, I believe... so I am keeping him for that reason.

Well I've listed all the 10 rares. I recommend Kirix and Ankha and Ban'thalos the most because you seem to like the green but honestly...try them all for atleast the challenge. Tis what I did.

For the boot from the stables...

~All the madexxes - You dont need that many. You want the green so no point in having the others you couldn't care less about. I actually got rid of most of my madexxes. Taluwen only has green. Lisaara only has blue. Jessibelle only has red now. Titala will only have bronze.

~Corrupted Bear - Do you really have an attachment to him? If not, boot.

~Both beetles - Small beetle isnt small anymore and the corrupted harvester isnt really that good of a green color anyway.

~Olm The Wise - You should get Ban'thalos instead. Besides, Olm has like....cardboard wings.

~Huruhan - Shes kind of an eyesore anyway. Do you honestly have a use for her?

~Ghostcrawler - Karkin is so much better. But thats me. I dont like GC at all.

~Gondria - I personally like her but you dont seem to. Get Ankha instead.

~Sambas - He looks good on Alliance toons but he's horrid for Horde toons.

I only picked 9 pets from your list because I feel the rest of my choices would have probably been personal bias. Here's my list:

1) Black Scarab (no surprise there)
2) Takk the Leaper (you already said you don't really want a raptor)
3) Silithid Harvester (you don't like beetles and have a tenacity pet)
4) Corrupted bear (you're 'meh' on the bear and have a tenacity pet)
5) Black Madexx (not unique; your second-to-last favorite color Madexx)
6) Olm (you're not very attached, and Olm is so easy to find)
7) Gondria (if she was your go-to ditch pet before, has anything changed now? Anything to make you WANT to keep her?)
8) Sambas (he is just a trophy - you don't need him )
9) Terrorpene (I personally love his model, but it doesn't seem like you do. The following list has another option for you...)

Here is my list of pets that I feel you would enjoy (in no real particular order beyond the first two) :

1) Skarr. He will take the place of your Sambas, but with a look you might prefer.
2) Karkin. He is tenacity, and while he doesn't have shell shield, he would be a suitable tank pet for just about anything you want to do
3) Kirix. He is not unique, but since green Madexx is your favorite and you liked the color of the Silithid Harvester, I thought you might enjoy this lovely green spider
4) Ban'thalos. You said you liked Olm's model - this is a brighter, more glowy version! It also gives rogues headaches, and nobody likes rogues. Excellent pet that is easy to keep track of in battlegrounds.
5) Solix. This spider is also unique, but personally I see Solix in the city and in BGs FAR less than Deth. If you're into fiery colors, this guy is great.
6) Deth'tilac. Who doesn't love Deth? (Well, lots of people, but still! Hah)
7) Ankha/Magria. You've abandoned Gondria a lot, but the question is why? Is it her model you don't like or her color? If the latter is the case, one of this lovely spirit kitties might be for you.

I only included 4.2 rares as you mentioned that the newer ones were the ones you were looking to tame.

(p.s. if I had to add one more to the list, it would be Huhuran. However, I left her off because she was a group effort (which may be more special to you) and she IS technically still unique. Barely. Compare the stingers; there is a slight difference.)

Then yeah. Feel free to keep both. I was comparing the detail that you had on the others ("I like him." "I love him" "I wouldn't part with him for anything") to these two ("Not wanting to ditch this guy" "He is sought after").

Although I would definitely agree with people: take a look at Skarr and see if his shiny gem-cat look appeals more than Sambas. He may be a good all-round pet if so. I personally love the look, but I'm not a cat-person. I only have Sambas because he was bound and determined to show up for me, and I fell for him.

But who knows.... after messing around with the Blue and Red Madexxs I might decide I like Red more, and keep Red around til Green shows up.

Are you into the soul of the pet, or just the skin/model? If so, you should ditch the ones you aren't bonded with ^-^ I ended up releasing 6-7 of my stable because I wasn't "bonded" with the pet. But...that is my opinion. Sorry if I couldn't help ><

The only two in your list that aren't going anywhere are my Oil-stained worg and my boar on fire. Most of the others I have already decided to get rid of and have done so or they are in the wings to get abandoned. Sambas will depart as soon as I find another cat (non-spirit beast) that I can replace him with.... will probably be Skarr.

Oh... and you might ask why no Lone Hunter... I had him on Tapeworm before with the knife in his head and all, but never grew very fond of him... not sure why I didn't... because everything about him is stuff that I look for in pets. I would actually consider going out and trying to get him again, but I am unsure if the easy method (taming him once and keeping him uncalled while trying to tame him again and abandoning him at the moment of tame) would get him again with the knife in his head... last time I tried it (5 months ago) it worked flawlessly.... it isn't the revive glitch or anything from what I remember... I might try this this evening if i can find my walkthrough I posted in a thread awhile back on how to do it for the boar on fire.

I suggest getting rid of:

Olm: Because he's almost ALWAYS up and can be tamed again at any point you desire, most of the time.

Jadefang: Because its ugly. No real reason other than that. My personal opinion of course.

Gondria: Always up, like Olm. At least on my server.

Princess Huruwhatever: Her model is no longer unique. You can tame a wasp in ZG with the same colors, except its REALLY unique because it CHANGES color each time you summon it.

Terrorpene: Ugly.

Sambas: Ugly, and always up. Once again, at least on my server.


Those are my opinions. Those are the rares I got rid of when the time came. I still have Gondria though, just because she was my first WOTLK spirit beast tame and I feel attached to her and like her model.
