The adventure of Rekk'tilac [Img Heavy]

Unread post by Vephriel »

Rekk is a special rare to me. He always eluded me back in the day. I had never seen him myself before Cataclysm, and even now he's still almost never around despite the shortened spawn timer. I just became fond of him somehow, he has a lot of personality. I don't want to tame him, he's only himself when he's in the wild.

I logged in today, forgetting I was in Searing Gorge, and there he was waiting for me.

For some reason I always tend to take him on little journeys whenever I actually see him up. [You may remember us from such tales as 'Rekk'tilac goes into Blackrock Mountain'] Today's stroll started out just meandering around Searing Gorge, but then I thought I'd see if we could make it to Badlands...then to Loch Modan (where I introduced him to Shanda the Spinner)...then to Dun Morogh. He got a bit chilly there and I figured he probably didn't like the cold, so that's as far as we went. :) It was a very fun trip though.

Hilarious! And what great shots :) I didn't see any dwarves about. Can't say I'd hang around if I saw a 2-storey-tall glowing lava spider coming my way either.

At one point there was a level 38 gnome rogue who came up and started following us. It's as though he thought I couldn't see through his stealth, but I kept kiting Rekk over on top of him and then he'd run away. x)

Wow! How do you get him to kite so far? I thought they all had 'chains' that reset them after a certain distance?

you know, it's funny but I never even knew this spider existed until yesterday when I was flying over Searing Gorge and Saw this Massive Lava Spider. I had to take a Double take. Thought I was seeing things at first.

very neat. i see this fella alot actually. I do like these spiders in their wild glory and do feel like they lose alot once tamed and you get a good good look on em.

btw. how to you manage to kite it that far? i was under the impression that you cant kite mobs anymore.

While this feature of the Grimtotem Spirit Guide wasn't exactly intended... - it will still be possible in future for everyone who wishes to tame this NPC to do so

Nice kiting job! :D As long as you keep up aggro on a mob, you can kite a lot of them as far as you want. I used to do kiting marathons on my druid. Kited Tusker into Shattrath a couple of times for the heck of it. I might still have the picture of a big dead Elekk sitting on top of A'dal.
Come see Kurasu's stables!

Awww...he's a monster in the wild. Makes Deth'tilac look tiny!

The dwarves and gnomes are probably going "WTF IS THAT THING!!!"

Rekk <3

I tamed him long ago back in TBC. I was questing out there and he spawned in his old spot very north next to the Horde Camp. I had mini heart-attack as he spawns around a load of NPCs who are killing the spiders. Had to lvl a few bars but then he was mine :) Back then ppl used to lol at him because no one saw the point in having a spider pet.

I'm just wondering how many brand-spanking-new WoW players Veph has scared off   I mean, in the first 10 minutes of the game you see a HUGE fire spider that is lvl ?? or skull tagged

Beautiful SS as always Veph :3 Hope u and Rekk have more journeys together :D

It seems you can kite a mob as far as you like as long as you're super patient. :) My method is just face-pulling them for aggro, then I take a step, stop and let them hit me a couple times, take another step, stop and let them hit me. Rinse and repeat. ^^

That is adorable xD it's like he waits for you to show just to go on a nice long walk! :p

I also didn't know you could keep the aggro that long, it's cool that they haven't changed this.

I love watching these things get kited all over the place. I've seen King Mosh taken to Crossroads, and somewhere, I have screenshots of Anachronos being taken to Thrall. For some reason, it just cracks me up.

We used to have fel reavers and pit lords in Shat back in BC. Also, that guy from SMV who couldn't die after he reached 50% hp. (You'd need a quest item to get rid of him.) THAT was epic.
