are people in WOW REALLY this mean all the time on purpose?
But then, I solo and craft my own stuff, and do lots of quests.
So that means I don't HAVE all the "uber" cool high level end-game gear.
I don't raid, obviously (if I don't do high-end dungeons with others).
So, why is it that during a VERY easy holiday daily (Coren Direbrew), I get trashed for not doing enough damage?
Is it REALLY that important?
We killed him, no one died, everyone got their kegs.
But two party members really felt the need to lay into me for not doing enough damage?
There's really no wonder that WoW has such a bad reputation for having incredibly mean and unfriendly players.

according to them, i didn't need ANY stamina because I was a hunter, and should remove all stamina from my toon.
just because someone is flaming you, doesn't mean they know better. laugh and ignore 'em

there is very little openness to new players, or casual players.

Re: are people in WOW REALLY this mean all the time on purpo

Today I healed a normal cata dungeon on my newbie priest with my husband. My cat climbed in my lap and I said ''brb need to put my cat out'' after the first pull. The tank (not my husband) proceeded to run to the next pull and die. ¬.¬ He blamed it on me, so I refused to rez him and let him QQ.
Yeah there are awful people who play this game, but there are nice ones as well. In my opinion and experience, the good outweighs the bad. It's all about finding the right people

I hate to break it to you, but that's a fact of life in every MMO out there. My advice: Develop a thick skin and put whatever rude jackasses you meet on ignore. The good thing about elitist players is that they are few and far between, and you're not likely to run into them very often.Sukurachi wrote:the only thing I see "killing WoW", to be quite frank, is the attitude of its most elitist players.

Short answer: yes.
Coren is a joke. You have to be trying REALLY HARD to wipe on him (unlike, say, Ahune). People complaining? I wouldn't even bother acknowledging such idiocy. Total douches.

I actually managed to wipe on Coren once. Don't remember how really it happened, but healer disconnecting immediately may have played a prt.Kalliope wrote:*eyes title*

Chalking that up to extenuating circumstances. >_<Andine wrote:I actually managed to wipe on Coren once. Don't remember how really it happened, but healer disconnecting immediately may have played a prt.Kalliope wrote:*eyes title*

Part of Dynasty, lvl 25 Alliance guild, casual and hardcore (your choice, no one forces you to raid, but you can), very helpful
Come on over if interested (Runetotem US, Horde name Sarantha, Ally name Ellysetta or Valeraud)
Re: are people in WOW REALLY this mean all the time on purpo
During a ZG run, I had this tank complain and moan about how no one dodged any of the green stuff, and how the healer sucked.
Well... if he had noticed, me and two others got the achivement for not being hit by ANYTHING [It's Not Easy Being Green]. He was also constantly standing in the green pools taking massive damage. The healer was amazing to keep him alive.
Some people just like to make themselves feel better by saying everyone else is terrible. :U

I'm really sorry that they were like that, but they seem to be in the minority, at least when it comes to super-simple holiday bosses like that.

Re: are people in WOW REALLY this mean all the time on purpo
I've been doing Coren every day since it started, on all my 85s (I have at least 5), and have had no issues until this particular run.
I can't have been so bad, because a number of times, the groups I was with just kept reforming to redo the same thing over and over until everyone had had a chance for the multiple possible drops.
It was just so strange and hurtful to be singled out for such a personal attack.

Re: are people in WOW REALLY this mean all the time on purpo
One time I was doing a midlevel dungeon on my hunter alt. I'm an exemplary hunter - by that I mean that I have a hunter main who I've played for 6 years so I know what I'm doing in dungeons... 99% of the time I am very quiet past a "hello" and "ty" at the beginning and end of a pug. Yet a couple of people decided they just wanted to layer hate on me for no reason, the vast majority of which I ignored, yet they just kept going... Finally we completed the dungeon, they wiped, I finished (eg. soloed) the last boss, mass rezzed them, said thanks, and left. Pretty obvious who the better person is there.
Another time, in normal Throne of the Tides, my boyfriend and I were dpsing and healing respectively. The tank stood in the shadow punch move that the second boss does (big purple circle on the floor) and got one-hit, then proceeded to blame me when the group wiped. I asked him to avoid the purple stuff next time, and he made some comment about "if I had aggro I could"... my boyfriend said "we didn't get aggro til you died, though". Mr tank proceeds to kick my bf. Seriously, that was the only word he said. What gets me? One of the dps - a hunter - absolutely SUCKED yet I had been incredibly nice to them, offered encouragement/light, friendly advice ("you might want to try and use Kill Command whenever it's off cooldown, it's a good BM move") - yet they still agreed to the kick and didn't tell me why. While the tank abused us the entire run, swore, used caps, and was a general asshat, my bf and I were the ones to "lose out" despite us being polite, friendly and even HELPFUL... that really got to me. I did end up reporting the guy and chatting to a GM about it but I'm not sure if anything came from it or not: as the GM said, votekicks work on a majority rule, but I pointed out, there WAS no reason, and my bf had said nothing to deserve a kick at all...
I don't see why some people so intentionally try to ruin the game for others. As mentioned before, Coren isn't hard; you can queue for him at level 84 and honestly he's probably almost soloable for some classes.
Try not to let it get to you, obviously you are a nice person and don't deserve to be treated that way, but their negativity will only hurt THEM in the end. I do agree that there are a lot of people in game who act just like rude little children, perhaps next time note their names and servers and report them. And try to remember the *good* pugs over the bad.
