The One Year Commitment

Unread post by AdamSavage »

There seems to be some confusion with how this commitment works. To sum it up, it's pretty much a contract with Blizzard. When you go through the process your given payment plan options to pay in one month, three month or six month blocks. It's slightly cheaper to go with a three month or six month option. It works out to be $3 savings with the three month block, and $6 savings with the six month block. If you plan on playing for another anyway, then this is simply free stuff for saying you agree to keep playing.

Some other important info on this:

Can I cancel my World of Warcraft subscription at any point during the 12-month term?

By taking advantage of this special promotion, you are committing to a 12-month World of Warcraft subscription, and you cannot cancel your subscription until the 12-month term of the agreement has ended.

What if I purchase the Diablo III Collector's Edition?

If you decide to purchase the Diablo III Collector's Edition when it's available, and then choose to add your Collector's Edition license key to the Battle.net account associated with your existing World of Warcraft Annual Pass promotion, you will receive all of the benefits associated with the Collector's Edition, plus receive four months of World of Warcraft game time which is eligible towards your 12-month subscription commitment. After you purchase the Diablo III Collector's Edition you just need to input the product key into the Battle.net account associated with your World of Warcraft 12-month commitment and that account will then receive the next 4 months of World of Warcraft game time for free. For example, if you already had a month of game time on the associated World of Warcraft account when you input your Diablo III Collector's Edition product key, it would then be 5 months until your next subscription payment was due.

yah pretty much. I was already on a 3 month rebill which was due to come out @ the end of the month, I just changed it to the one year commitment thing. Seems once you set it up, they will not allow you to stop your sub until the one year is up.

Fundamentally it's bribery to commit to not leaving, right?

Depends how you look at it. I planned to keep playing anyway, so for me it's free stuff. For others it could be viewed as bribery.

Anyone seen anything yet about the requirements for the Diablo side of things? I don't play Diablo but would like to check out D3 as I kind of like what I've seen. So anyone seen anything about if I have to go back and buy D2 or D2.5? Paying the monthly fee for Diablo as well or is it like a free trial? I didn't see anything in the FAQ on this but figure it will be cleared up soon since it only just got announced. I've already signed up since I'll be playing WoW anyway and it's beta and the mount for bonus so not worried about that but am curious about the rest. Anyone find out anything please post it here if you would and if I find anything I'll edit this or post again asap. Thanks in advance.

You get a download copy of Diablo 3 when it's available, same as the retail game, for committing to 1 year of Warcraft.

I like how this offer automatically encourages the most consistent players to participate in the beta. It seems like their feedback would be most important to Blizz.

From the looks of things the mount will be given to anybody who is on the plan on the day of 4.3 release, correct?

Well, you'll get the mount on that day, yes. Not sure if there's a deadline for signing up for the commitment.

There is a deadline, but I don't remember what it was off the top of my head. I believe it was in Nov.

Edit - Here's the entire FAQ about the thing. Doesn't say how long tho, just that it's limited time only.

Well, since WoW is pretty much my only real entertainment on my entertainment budget, and I know that I will still be playing it a year from now, I signed up for it. I am not all that interested in diablo, but if we get it to work on my computer, my guy might like to give it a shot.

I read the three rewards for the 1 year and instantly decided to sign up. I already pay in 6 mo. terms, and have largely been anticipating Diablo 3 (so much so that I pulled out and dusted off Diablo 2 and zerged through that game.). With the free copy of D3 as well as the beta key and in-game mount, I definitely thought the deal that costs no more money than I would already pay for a year was well worth it.

Yeah, I signed up and so did my spouse and housemate. We don't see anything changing in a year to make us not want to play WoW, it's cheap entertainment, and a free game is nice.
