No love for Solix?

Unsurprisingly, Deth is quite popular, as well as Kirix. Skitter and Anthriss even have a huge following. But what about Solix? I rarely see him mentioned and have not once even seen him in battlegrounds or around town while playing my ally hunter. (On my horde hunter I've only seen him a handful of times.) Before I actually saw Solix as a hunter pet, I assumed he'd look pretty boring - he'd be plain and orange without the deep fiery coloring of Skitter or the gorgeous luminescence of Anthriss. But after playing with him on my horde hunter, I saw how wrong that assumption was! He's incredibly beautiful, and I love the way his coloring looks in every lighting. He's probably my second favorite pet model in the game, if not tied for first.

So I was wondering, are there other Solix fans like me? Who here prefers other spiders to Solix and why? If you had to list your favorite spiders in order as far as coloring goes, what would your list look like?

On a side note, Dunkin Donuts hash browns are really excellent.

I think Solix is cool, the problem is

1) I don't have any hunters that would look really cool with it - closest is my dwarf Bofors who has a fire theme, but he's already got a magma tarantula which imo looks better with a dwarf due to its stout legs

2) I don't do PVP and so I generally avoid cunning pets - hopefully in 5.0 they'll let me spec cunning into ferocity, and things will change dramatically.

Ah, good points And I can definitely see a fuzzy magma tarantula as matching a dwarf better! If I'm still playing wow by 5.0, I would be so excited to see that change.

I have Deth, Kirix and Solix. I fell in love immediately with Deth, like many people; blue is just a great color I tend to favor. I love 'Fel' green, so Kirix was also an eye catcher. I nabbed both of them on the server's first spawns and had a great time playing with both of them. I liked Solix, but didn't even bother taming him when he was up because I didn't appreciate his (mine is a her lol) coloration until I saw my friend's out in different lightings in game. I was jealous of how amazing Solix looked and had to have him! Now he is definitely my fav. He is the perfect embodiment of lava and fire. I have much love for Solix

I never even originally wanted Solix at all. Until I accidently killed him trying to help another hunter get him. I felt really bad about it. I already owned Deth and Kirix and those were originally the only two I wanted. (Why do I even WANT three spiders?!) But the whole event of me accidently killing Solix really bothered me from then on out. Even after I saw him sitting alone by himself twice afterwards. Finally I decided to tame, only to have a punk Mage kill him while I was taming. (Well, killed me, then Solix.)

When I finally did tame him, I named him LiteBrite. After the toy I used to play with for HOURS when I was little. I really dont think I have the heart to get rid of him now.

I love all my spiders (One bone spider, and then all but the yellow flame spider), but Solix is the perfect match for my hunter. I saw him the first time before knowing the strategy, and knew I had to tame him. I'm a red-haired, large-bearded dwarf, he matched me all too well to not tame him. I quickly looked up the method, and gave it a few goes. Unfortunately, he died the 1st time, but that only made me more intent on taming him.

He is up very often on Nordrassil (US), and there have been times where I've mentioned him in general in Firelands AND Hyjal, but no one cared, so I would sit there for hours without anyone showing up, and then retame him so he was not wasted, especially when the local Horde DK's were looking eager for a kill.

I have Kirix, Deth, Anthriss and Solix (Kiwi, Saffron, Meringue, and Pumpkin, respectively), . I love them all and have to keep justifying why I have 4 spiders of the same skin, but in different colors. I like to cycle through the fire spiders though, usually depends on what mood I am in terms of color. Lately I have been using Solix though. (And yeah I named mine Pumpkin) I always have at least one fire spider with me.

Also, I'm like Mychelle, I originally just wanted Kirix and Deth, but managed to get attached to Solix and Anthriss as well.

Funny thing about me and Solix.... I would always see him. And wait by him for a hunter to come along and tame him. I kept thinking to myself, "Why does this spider seem to want me?" Eventually I caved and finally tamed him. Really happy I did.

Oh and as for the poll, I can't pick a favorite out of my bunch. I love them all. It all depends on my mood really.

(And I have never tried their hash browns =P)

I've tamed all the molten spiders, but did only end up keeping one. Deth'tilic remained with me over the others because of his color combonation, as well as my experience taming him. He is my favorite of the spiders, but that doesn't mean I didn't share my love for all of them

I do love Solix for his molten orange lava. He seems the most...natural...if we were considering molten spiders natural His taming challenge as well kept me on my toes and when I finnally got him (three attempts, no deaths but first had his energy to low, second forgot I had 5 pets, third tamed) I pranced around just admiring his impressive look. He may not be my fvorite, but I do adore him:)

The common red lava spider(and I guess by extension Skitterflame) will always be my favorite. Solix and the common yellow/Anthriss are just as pleasing to the eye to me, but it's next to impossible for me to get a grip on the challenge for Sol and I already have a spider who I love very dearly, so they'll have to wait for an alt.

I love Solix tons! I just like Deth's colors more. Solix looks a bit close to Skitter.

Deth > Anthriss > Solix > Skitter > Kirix

ive never tryed solix on my hunter but ive rehomed him at least 20 times and tamed him for my bf while he was at work i got deth because i was helpin my friend out and he died if i didnt tame him the crouds of ppl hit him would before he got back so i tamed him part of me wants to try solix out

I have three Firelands spiders, which I tamed in this order:

Kirix
Deth'tilac
Solix


I can't let any of them go- I love them all too much! I run around with all of them. They are just awesome!

I have to admit, I don't really care for any of them. I prefer the regular spider models above all other spiders. <3

I have Solix! He was a righteous bear to tame too, and I count myself very fortunate to have him. I don't USE him because... lawl cunning, and I hate PVP with a passion.

That said though, provided 5.0 lets me make him a different tree, he's definitely going to be my fave tank, all things being otherwise equal (i.e. if they don't change pet skills around again.)

To be fair, though, I like the green skin better, personally. But Solix looks better with Aren, my main-hunter; the green just looks weird with him. But so it goes....sometimes the pet finds you!

Solix is my least favorite lava spider color. It goes Anthriss, Deth, Kirix, Skitter, then Solix. I'm just not a fan of Orange. It seems like poor Anthriss isn't getting any love. I dont get it, she's gorgeous. I bet if she was a rare skin people would appreciate her more.

Cunning isn't really that laughable, nor it is it entirely PvP oriented. I use my Wind Serpent and Silithid in many boss fights that I find myself lacking in Focus for, and they're a god-send. You not liking cunning for not liking cunning is of course an opinion, but if You don't like them b/c of what you think they bring, I'd highly recommend one regardless.
