"Twilight Firewood"

Unread post by Skyshot »

So it's been a while since I've posted anything. I figured I would share a story about something I found some amusement from. xD

I just recently got back from a fun and relaxing mini-vacation to attend my cousins wedding in Port Townsend, WA (it was a really lovely wedding! =D). Now the route back home takes me through Forks and so I got to see all the Twilight 'this and that's found in the main strip of town. I've never been a huge fan of the Twilight series but I don't hate it (I'm just kind of 'meh' about it) so all of the "Dazzled by Twilight!" and "Come get your Twilight memorabilia here!" signs in stores didn't bother me much at all. I actually got a good chuckle seeing all the tourists buzzing along with cameras and bags of their touristy Twilight finds. They are having fun and the town is obviously profiting from the influx of tourism after all. =) It actually was when I was just on the outskirts of town that I saw something that made me laugh outright. A stand selling a good amount of firewood was there on the side the road. Now not just any firewood... the sign read: "Twilight Firewood". There were even people lined up looking to get some of it! I can't help but wonder if it sparkles when it's on fire...

I just felt I would share my little story with you all. Maybe you'll find it at least marginally funny. ;)

I don't live in a big town, so the only twilight stuff we have is a bookstore (which is centred to stamps and pencils) advertising the books and an edwarddoll outside the cinema whenever a new movie is premiering.

And I think the twilight wood will sparkle if exposed to sunlight, and burn if exposed to REAL vampires.

I also exist on DeviantArt.

Nope, no Twilight here. Chavs don't read, see. ;)

Although I was raised in the town of Farnborough, about 40 miles SW of London, and every two years, there is a truly enormous airshow that's famous among aircraft enthusiasts and ex-Rushmoorees the world over.
Over the years though, it got gradually more commercial, more people knew about it, and the shops started selling souvenirs to the tourists. Going there now is completely different. I don't like it anymore.
Commercialism sucks. :P

I suppose that sort of similar to what's happening in Forks. ;)

(Twilight firewood is white and longer than your average log)

Well tbh there's one thing about getting tourism from like a local legend- there's another from getting it from warped mormonism views. Well all views of mormonism are warped but there you go.

And as funny as it is, it's also kinda disgustingly morbid that you just stick twilight onto anything and fans will be on it worse than fire ants on a watermelon.

But guess I know what the hell to do now to make money so.

Sadly,

The town I live in has a population of around 300... Half of those are elderly that simply cannot afford to move away. Our small town was once a hub of tobacco and textile. Since both have dwindled away it's been dying off over the past decade. All my children moved away, and I couldn't blame them. I don't honestly don't know why I still linger here except to remain close to the lands I once ran across as a child.

But, not much Twilight here, that's for sure... I think a couple of teenagers in the old neighborhood have read the series. I did as well, simply because I read just about everything I can get my hands on. I'll be honest though, I read a book on the French Revolution last week that was much more entertaining... Sadly...

I feel so outnumbered I loved the series but then again I'm biased..anything with werewolves I love! However..Matel released a Twilight Barbie doll of Edward the vamp which I came upon in Walmart..after giggling for a few seconds I picked up the box to notice that his face sparkles... Thats pretty funny too me! lol :)

Ah, and here I thought this was a thread on how to put that fictional drivel to good use over the winter.

Ahhhh,

No Nevar... We all have our opinions, yours is just as valid as any trust me. I didn't hate it, just didn't overly like it. I too love the Werewolf myth with a passion. Since about 7 years old actually lol... My main problem with Twilight was it's lack of real depth more than the over all plot... I'm still waiting for someone to treat werewolves with some heavy duty verbage, but alas I may have to pony up and just do it myself...
