Artifact from another world

For the second time in as many days, scientists at the secret underground super collider in Colorado Springs were able to open the portal, a bridge between two universes. The first time they saw a vibrant world, a civilization simultaneously advanced and primitive. The second time a world in ruins, with no life detectable at all. They were able to pull one artifact through this time... a daguerreotype, a portrait of some sort of human, and something unknown, unmistakably feline.
