Then more recently I came up with a blue "faux plate" mog set for my low lvl paladin Veneratus; I loved the way it looked, but sadly by the time I'd collected all the pieces, it was nearly time for him to switch over to platemail. So I got to thinking about which of my chain-using toons might be able to use it, and remembered Fusillade.
He was in his fifties at the time, and so the armor came together pretty quickly; I mixed in different shoulders and helm, tied it together with a gray woolen shirt, and capped it off with the Stormwind Shroud for a visual exclamation point.
The gun took some more planning - I wanted something that fit obviously, but that I also hadn't used on any of my numerous other hunters. Finally I hit on the X-54 Rocket Ripper; this weapon was plenty big so as not to be swallowed up by Fusillade's looming silhouette, as well as being sort of futuristic looking, which was a strong element of his that I wanted to continue - I wasn't looking for "lasers and robots" futuristic, but rather something more WW1-ish, and I felt like the Ripper fit the bill nicely.
From there it was a long XP grind out to 69 so he could get the gun and the rhino (made slower by the fact that Blizzard had normalized almost all the TBC outdoor elites that I'd enjoyed solo'ing in the past...), culminating in 4 runs of Steamvaults before my Ripper finally dropped (and the last run was preceeded by a heartbreaking 2.5 hour queue time... ugh).
But finally, it all came together, and I'm quite happy with the result!
