dungeon question

Unread post by Sukurachi »

I dual-box, either two hunters, or a hunter and a warlock.

two friends of mine - a hunter (also) and a shadow priest - and I like to do a bit of stuff together. we're not particularly well-geared. I sort of dragged them through Utgarde a couple of times when they were in their 70's (I think that was when).

Anyway, they both recently dinged 85.

I was wondering, are there any slightly higher-level instances we might group together to do, without a fifth?

For example, would Culling of Stratholme be doable by four 85s, NOT wearing epic gear (although my Hunter and Warlock are both geared in 350+)? Would the Heroic version be doable?

Any suggestions for a FUN instance we could do?

I don't mean "fun = hard".

Fun as in .. well.. fun!

These two friends are even MORE casual players than I am. If that is even possible... I always thought more casual than me would mean borderline decomposing.

As a matter of fact, their first instance ever in WoW was when I dragged them through Utgarde! And they have multiple toons on another server, no less.

OK, so question is posed. Any suggestions?

with 4 85's you can handle most of the Wrath Dungeons even in heroic state. One of my favorite sets are Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron, and Halls of Reflection which you have to do in this order to open up the next.

I also like Ungarde Pinnacle which has a blue proto drake drop (rare) in it.

Edit - You can handle Culling of Stratholme which also has a bronze drake mount if you get through it within a time limit.

Just give it a try.

The Stratholme run has a guaranteed drop of the bronze drake if you make that time limit, too.

Utgaarde Pinnacle has a drake drop?????

I didn't know this. Who drops it? I've been doing it on heroic with my Hunter/Warlock pair just for fun.

Do you think with three hunters and no tank we can get through CoS within the heroic time limit?

I guess we could run it on normal to get a feel for it, then go for the heroic run.

I forget, does the drake drop for everyone who doesn't have it? or is it a single drop that we have to roll on? I know it's 100% drop rate.

Skadi drops the Blue Proto-Drake. It's a very rare drop, and only one character would be able to pick it up.

For the Bronze Drake, it's a 100% drop if you make the time limit, but again only one character can win it.

UP would be easy with more than one lvl 85 as it's pretty easy to solo it as a hunter  you'd be fine.

I'm pretty sure I've dual-boxed heroic Utgaarde Pinnacle...

I'm wondering how hard doing Stratholme would be?

The Pit of Saron, Forge of Souls, and Halls of Reflection ones.. those are just north of Dalaran, right? (damn my feeble memory... can't remember, for the life of me, the name of that zone... is that Icecrown? the one with ALL the undead zombie voodoo monsters?)

can always try black rock caverns regular, I can practically solo it on my druid and almost on my hunter and they are both 380ish geared. and as far as wrath stuff, except for mechanics in a couple of the dungeons, they can all be solo'd be a decent geared 85 that knows the fights and what you are doing, so a group of 4 85's, healer or not should be able to plow through and maybe nab achievements while they are at it.

another thing you can goof off with is bc raids and bc heroics too, transmog gear and such, only hard ones may be sunwell and couple bosses in BT.

H Stratholme's pretty easy solo so haveing more than one person would be a piece of cake I mean it's easyer than UP and that's pretty easy to solo.

EDIT: the zombies can be a pain but with a good tank pet should be good.

I have done it with me and another hunter for Stratholme. It's not that hard to do.. just get your timing down.. the zombies are an annoyance.

the other 3 are at ice crown citadel in Ice crown.

YAY!

We did Culling, once on normal to get the hang of it, then once on Heroic, and one of my friends looted the mount!

So we get to do it at least twice more next week ... his BF doesn't have the mount (obviously) and my dual-boxing alt doesn't either.

It was a LOT of fun.

got confusing running after the spawns of the "real" target mobs during the "cull" part.. but we got the hang of it. on heroic it was a breeze.

There's also Sethekk Halls, Outlands, for the Raven Lord mount. Gotta be heroic, but at 85 it's cake. Just remember to kill the mobs in priority. Any of the see through ones must die first, esp if you dual box or they'll drop mc totems. Other than that... It's cake.

hehe, I have the Raven mount already.. and there is NO way that my friends are going to be into the monstrous amount of farming that will be required to get the mount!

It took me over a month of doing the heroic daily. And I only got one mount. My alt doesn't have it yet.

I agree that you should be able to do most heroric Lich King dungeons, and maybe even Throne of the Tides.
I'm a multi boxer too, and I can do Throne of the Tides, but having trouble in Blackrock Caverns. But that's only because of the boss you have to pull in and out of the fire. :S

Throne of the Tides and Blackrock Cavern are not Lich King, however, right? Those are Cata dungeons, aren't they?

I don't imagine soloing a Cata dungeon on heroic. at least not quite yet.

You're only running two characters, right?
I don't know how that will turn out, if you'd try doing those two Cataclysm dungeons.
I multi boxed four hunters, and one of them was level 84 at the time. And only one had decent gear. (Meaning she had some epic stuff). It went okay, but as I said before, I had some problems at the boss you have to kite.
So if one of your friends are able to kite that boss in Blackrock Caverns, you should be able to do it. It's not that hard.
I did it while multi boxing three hunters, and a friend in greens tanked on her death knight. No deaths or anything.

As for Lich King herorics, I'm able to multi box most of them on my four hunters. Haven't tried Oculus, cause I don't think I can do it, when you have to use the dragons.
Tried Trail of the Champion, and failed big time. lol
But I guess you can do that one, if you don't multi box.

If you were on EU servers I'd gladly help you, but I'm guessing you're not. :)

Yeah mechanics can be a big brick wall, but otherwise the wotlk dungeons shouldn't be a problem if we're talking about a lvl 85 - I solo'ed crucible of carnage on my hunter without much trouble (ilvl wasn't anything special, just 360 iirc), and probably could have done the same with the other 2 in the set, so if you're multi-boxing you should be able to sail through the wotlk stuff with ease (again provided it's not a dungeon with special fight mechanics).

well, the original question was for myself (dual-boxing either two Hunters, or a hunter and Warlock) plus two friends, each playing a single character (one a Hunter, the other a S.Priest).

we got through Culling of Stratholme rather easily, even on Heroic. our only problem was at first not knowing where the event-starting NPCs were, or not realizing we had to talk to someone to start the thing. Once we got the knack of it, it was a breeze.

Also, these friends play on another server mainly, except that their toons on my server are their very first level 85s! (I'm so proud). So they are geared in quest rewards mostly.

and I once joined a dungeon group to do that one with the different coloured mounts in Lich King... Occulus? I TOTALLY hated that dungeon, and I wasn't even trying to multi-box or anything.
