Personally, I'm interested. Varian realized he had a problem and he's gonna set things right. I'm glad he's being developed some, as is his son.
Now...Garrosh...he's had his good moments but...those were VERY few and not enough to really make me nod at him. Who will be next Warchief? My vote is on Vol'jin or Saurfang.
But overall...I'm just...bouncing with glee and excitement to the point of tears.
I never minded Garrosh in his role as horde warchief - was he nice? No he was not. Would I want him for president? Nope. But I thought he was a good fit for the leader of the Horde. He was hard, cruel and warlike, which embodied the Horde as-I-view-it much moreso than the jedi-like Thrall.
Would I mind seeing him replaced? Depends on who replaces him - long as the newcomer fits the same traits I just described, cool with me. It's a dark, savage world.
However what did bother me was all this talk of how Varian Wrynn is going to essentially have his own "Thrall moment", and become a wise, caring leader... dang it, he was just getting cool as a smoldering, hard edged sign-of-the-times. Bleah.
I'm kinda eh about the end result...Don't get me wrong I'm excited about this because I think it'll be a fairly epic event but meh.
Now for the lore buildup on the other hand. Oh I am going nuts...LOOOOOOOOOREEEE! Want!!!! I want to know how it happens now! Screw waiting! Lore lore lore lore lore!!!!
By the time the beta comes out I'm certain I'm going to have driven myself insane by trying to figure out what caused the siege and what will come from it.
Hey look, they announce Illidan returning in some form and suddenly I'm back. Hmmmm I wonder if there's a connection.

Guess we'll see how things materialize.
That is why Garrosh was hated...cause he was a brute. Varian was hated for the same reason. It's a no-brainer they're not gonna keep a leader like that around.

Meh, I don't like Garrosh, he's an ass just to be an ass. Varian though, he's my favorite lore character, and believe he has very good reason to distrust and even despise the Horde as he does. I hope he doesn't go too soft, otherwise there will be no conflict between factions...

I'm really excited about this. Mostly because I'm looking forward to seeing how events ramp up in MoP to such an extreme level that both factions turn against him. Should be a fun ride!
I'd kinda like to see what would happen if Baine or Vol'jin took over the Horde afterwards. With the former the Horde would become more stoic and thoughtful. With the latter there'd be more parties.
Hmm. Not sure how I feel about the Alliance apparently taking the role of "Savior of the Horde".
Not in the literal sense. They aren't superheroes going out sweeping orcs away from dragons. But the interview made it sound like the Alliance will bust into Orgrimmar, kill the Warchief, and leave, protecting children on the side. Like the Horde is a bunch of puppies.
I'm sorry, no.
That's not the Horde.
The Horde survive. They're tenacious. Nothing takes down the Horde. I love the idea of the Siege of Orgrimmar, but I only love it if the Horde are actively aiding the Alliance, not just providing feeble aid or opposition. Let it be known that the Horde are in agreement, that they aren't just watching their city be raided - that they're actively helping. They're strong and will stay strong, even when their leader needs to be gotten rid of.
However, there's always the chance (the very likely chance) that the interview just gave the wrong image- that it really will be a cooperative fight. I seriously hope so. The Horde have suffered through a lot of crap and deserve to hold their heads high. If they're allowed to in the end, then that's good with me. Horde and Alliance don't need to be best buds at the end; the tentative alliance can be quickly broken. Just make sure it's clear that the Horde makes their own decisions.

/opinion, not trying to hurt anyone.
They did state the Horde turned AGAINST Garrosh, so yes I'm pretty sure the Horde will be aiding.
Shinryu Masaki wrote:Didn't Metzen said Thrall was coming back as warchief of the Horde? I'm pretty sure it was in the last BlizzCon.
Actually he said Thrall ISN'T coming back.
Thrall is coming back.
No he isn't. They stated that very clearly at Blizzcon when someone asked. He's not going to be Warchief anymore. He gave up his title to become the shaman he was destined to be. Now he's got a family to raise, as Aggra is currently pregnant. Thrall's story is done, finished, as far as we're told. Likely he'll be returning to Nagrand with his wife, keeping his title of World Shaman.
I'm not saying Blizz could've changed their mind since then but it's unlikely.
