Question regarding pet damage

Unread post by Gigs »

Hope I don't get flamed for this. =X I did some searching but can't find the answer to this.

Basically, I know all pet's dmg was normalized however when I look at the pet screen some of my pets show that they do more dmg and dps by quite a large margin than others...Skarr, Ghostcrawler are just 2 as an example. They show as doing like 1.7k dps and 3k top end dmg where as say my wolf same spec as Skarr only shows say 1.4k dps and 2.5k top end dmg. Also I noticed (again same spec) that the run speeds are different such as Skarr's being 74% and my wolf being 149%. I've tried this with BM and Surv with the same results (numbers fluctuate of course) as well and several different computers to make sure it wasn't just an addon messing with the display.

I guess my question is...are these number correct or is it just a display error on the server end and they are really all normalized at "x" dps, dmg and speed?

Thanks!

Not sure why the run speeds show differently if you have the pets specced the same. The only way I can think of testing it is having a race against another hunter in similar spec whose pet window shows a drastically different number, and seeing if one pet actually is that much faster.

As far as the damage range, did you take into account the buffs your pet provides? The cat's roar of courage is more beneficial than the wolf's howl so I assume that's calculated in the damage range. If you were to run an extended test with a cat and wolf, identically specced, pet buffs toggled off, anything with CDs off, they theoretically should come out close on a damage meter (I say theoretically because there's no way to take out RNG completely).
