Battletags.

Revamping thread now that battletag is live!

When requesting to add someone, MAKE SURE YOU LET THEM KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN THE MESSAGE! Very important! Haha, I know I always ignore requests from people that don't say who they are in their little message thing.

I'm a newbie when it comes to Diablo, and after playing a bit for the past two days, I kinda like it and dislike it at the same time. I find the gloomyness a bit depressing, and I tend to get scared in creepy dungeons. But then I randomly grouped up with this nice French barbarian, and we did skeleton king together, and oh, I felt so much safer with my tank :) (I'm a demon hunter for now)

So, I decided, if I don't have to play solo, I don't want to play solo.

EU and US cannot be friends with each other right?

Do you just go into Diablo and then add battletag in there? Then once you log back over to WOW viola, you're battletag friend is linked and your real name stays forever secured?

I don't think they can :-/ But you go into the main window and there's an add friend button, you either enter battletag or their email.

Correct US / EU cannot friend eachother. And correct again, once in wow it'll only show the battletag nickname. IE I would be shown as "Paprika" in wow. :)

For now yes.

The reason being, the framework for including them in WoW hasn't been introduced yet (it's in MoP's beta but not activated yet). When the game changes prior to MoP happen and the code alterations to allow battletags are pushed to live realms, then they'll be directly accessible without D3.

D3 JUST came out, so it's coming out with the battletag feature already in place.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

I'll put mine up but I don't know if it's US or EU. Bound to be US I think the WoW Oceanatic servers are US ones.

What's funny is that I added people via battletags in Diablo III, but I can still see them when I'm on WoW!

Yep! Battletags are basically RealID for people who don't want their actual personal information flagging around where everyone can see it. It has the same functionality and the same ability to see/invite people inside WoW.

Except I hadn't been able to friend them via WoW, though given, I haven't tried since D3 actually released.

I think not until Panda will you be able to add Battletag via WOW. Has to come from D3 to D3 but then it carries over to WOW after.

Does it work for Starcraft 2? Or would they put it in when the Heart of the swarm expack comes out this year?

i bet as long as you add it through Diablo 3, it would carry over. I don't think you can add battletag directly from SC2 though.

Pretty sure you can't via wow yet so you're right. AFAIK its inc in MoP though.

I have a battle tag and do not have D3 :) I saw it in my battle.net account as an option and it said that setting the tag now is fine, and that the intent is to have the battle tags cross all gaming platforms *nod*

I think you can still add the battle tag from battle.net regardless of game you play (so long as you have battle.net)
