The shoulders however needed to go. There are actually very few shoulders imo that look good with these robes, but after a lot of research I found the shoulders from the Lord's Mail to be a nice fit, and made a lucky score on the AH. Helms are another tough match, but once again the Lord's set came through for me there as well. Almost made me wonder if the Lord's set was the earlier work of the artist who designed the Blessed Undead Slayer...
The new gloves were one of those things you can never anticipate - when I'd looted the mistshroud gauntlets I was 99% sure I'd never use them in a mog set, since after all Velocity had a primarily a white / light colored theme, so why would she ever use a pair of black / gold gloves. But just for kicks I tried them on and lo and behold their colors actually tied into the patterns on her sides - who knew?
Then lastly it was time to replace the staff and cloak - purple didn't play nice with the other pieces! I replaced the cloak with one from TBC whose pale green and gold seemed to fit in to existing hues. For the melee weapon, I found a surprisingly nice looking staff from Vanilla that I'd never really noticed before - it fit Velocity's image as a more ethereal / magical sort of hunter, it acted as a light source, and last but not least it also saved me having to run out and grind for a polearm...
And, here she is - this time it feels like a keeper.
