Re: Hunting Journal: Mounts (Target Marked: TLPD!)

Unread post by Shadow »

Yeah. It's a re-post, but the email attached to my last account got hacked, and I... misplaced my password to my other account. So I had to make a new one. And since I can't edit my old posts, I figured it would be alright to re-post my updates.

Notes: A LOT of the new striked off things are things that won't really show up on my mount's list until next Tuesday because I've acquired them on other toons in the past (some of them in the distant past, so I have no date on when I got them. Like the Slabhide drake, I got on my warrior when I was level 83, and the Hog I got on the same warrior for an early Christmas present some time ago). Yay account wide mounts!

In recent TLPD news, I've now killed Vyragosa 11 times and seen her 12. A shadow priest (a very rude one if I might add. Same one who once stacked on me when I was in that spot first, whining about how she had been camping for 3 months - and I've been camping on and off for years, thank you very much - so she should be entitled to her spot) tagged and killed one of the recent ones. The other one I wanted to test how well I could disengage to safety after shooting. Only I two shot Vyragosa in the air and fell a very long way. Somehow, I lived with a good 5% health upon landing, but at least I learned two things. One: If I shoot I won't survive a fall if I get a critical hit. Two: It's perfectly fine for me to drop down anywhere once TLPD is in range, I will get tag, kill, die, and can drift back to my body on a ghost gryphon. I'm perfectly fine with paying a repair bill for a non-stolen TLPD kill.

Another interesting thing happened. I met a rogue. A very odd rogue. We started talking while he flitted around me, trying to help me find Skoll (after I insisted that I had no interest in Skoll). We talked about how to get the Tol Barad mounts and he brought up that he had gotten TLPD on his hunter! What a silly rogue, camping TLPD twice. I got to share account-wide mounts with him, saving him time and myself the grief of loosing a TLPD to someone who would get one on all of his toons next week. He still comes around now and then, not sure why.

People still stack a lot on my server. But luckily camping on the waterfall spawn point is still as quiet as ever. For as long as the zones remain unshared, I feel safe to afk from my computer without getting ganked. And maybe one of these times I go to make dinner or watch something with my bf, I'll come back to TLPD eating my face.

Naw. I've only seen a handful of people stay on it for more than 12 hours at a time. The time period in which people come and go fluctuates, but I've had hours where I've been all alone on Horde side and times where there have been about... 15+ people in the zone on my faction. Most of them don't even seem to know what they're doing, they like to cluster on the same "common" spawn point for some reason... It's very odd.

Looking from when I started this post, it went from 3 campers (me included) before I went to reply, to 12 people, and back down to 3 before I finished the post. Ulduar run maybe? *shrugs*

Wow, how populated is your server? When I was camping him I never saw more than 8 people out.

Arthas is a high population PvP server. It's like 3:1 H:A ratio so I estimate it roughly looks like that in most zones I'm in. Mostly it's all about timing and the like, but most people just like to sit in Org and wait for something to happen instead of going out and camping xD Plus TLPD isn't the prettiest looking thing. But I would very much like to be done with Storm Peaks before MoP hits :/ Not likely but... who knows.

The one thing I'm concerned about in mists is the cross server realms. What does that mean for rare spawns like tlpd? As soon as I heard about that I started camping my ass off.

That much isn't clear at all, unfortunately. I thought it meant every single zone, but there's another thread on here that speculates low level zones only (Vanilla?). And in all honesty, I'm hoping they cut up the Panda starting zones to fix the inevitable insanity that comes with everyone trying to level at once. :/

EDIT:

Update! Another Vyragosa spawned! And... I didn't even see it at my waterfall camp site. :/ Great. Apparently the last TLPD was killed 4 days ago, so... Anytime now, it should spawn again. Sigh.

*Throws mount luck at you* ... Bah. What did I do that for. I have no mount luck. xD Oh well! Have some anyway!

I like the organisation of this thread too, hehe. How it says what you earned and when and what you'll be wanting to aim for in the future. I should do the same!

I tried xD But a lot of the mounts I was going to aim for on my hunter I got on my Druid, Warrior, Paladin, ect. And since mounts will be account wide I'm all fuzzy. I'm going to go back and see what achievements I can dig up from when to add to my timeline :3 I'll probably add Screenies of my kills to my timeline if I ever complete a "current" hunt xD Thank you :3 I'll take what luck I can get.

Okay. Another update. I've decided to STOP farming TLPD >_> I've now had the thing in my dreams two days in a row. The one last night was just ungodly strange. First I found TLPD flying around. So I realized 'Cool, I can go kill it and ride it'. So I flew up on my TB drake and jumped on top of the TLPD and realized it basically turned into a Harry Potter-esque going-to-kill-you-with-fire-and-death dragon. So we flew around and I had a wand instead of a bow, so I was trying to cast spells at it. It doesn't give a shit about spells, thought. But I manage to make it crash into one of the snowy mountains and it's... tamed after that.

Then there was... something in Deepholm. Something about an Aeonaxx camper who got seriously injured and needed help getting back to Orgrimmar, so I flew out there on my new TLPD and there was someone else there trying to help, so I loaned the pair my Ironbound and Rust Protodrakes and we flew away...

... I'm just going to go grind Nether Rays for a while. o.e

Mounts are like crack. You need to know when you've had too much. Or is that beer... Either way, with the new shared mount system, I realized that I was one achievement away from my red Protodrake. Which I went and soloed. Funny thing is that the WoW tracker doesn't track how many Iron Sludges you kill, so I ended up killing like 20 of them. Lol.

Hello my Red Proto Drake!

If you're ever so bored.

So I decided to work on my PvP mounts (complete), my red proto (complete), and then I get the hunch to head back to Storm Peaks and fly around a bit.

Wasn't even me. But I'm glad it wasn't TLPD either. That's 13 Vyragosas, 2 TLPDs.

Congrats on your Red Proto! Quick question, do you use ElvUI? It looks a lot like it.

Mhm. A friend of mine suggested TukUI once to me a while ago. I had it for maybe two months before I found the much cleaner, smoother, lighter ElvUI which I adore forever >.> Thank you :3

I use TukUI. xD Personally I prefer it to ElvUI (And the guy that made it was an asshole to me a while back.) but both are clean and simple and really tidy.
