Westfall Chicken quest broken? - Fixed!

With the new account-wide pet journal I just realized that I don't have a Westfall Chicken, which surprised me because I used to get it on all my Alliance characters back in the day. However, I went on a hiatus in Wrath and when I came back I started over, deleting all my old chars. So none of my current chars are older than Wrath and appearantly I never got a chicken in all that time. Well, no problem, I thought, I'll just get one now.

Only it doesn't work. I spam /chicken at a chicken and after a while it turns friendly and I get the message "Chicken looks up at you quizzickally. Maybe you should inspect it." But, I can't inspect it, meaning I can't talk or in any way interact with it or get the quest.

I tried it with both an Alliance char in Westfall and a Horde char in Brill, with and without the chicken feed already in my bag. So now I'm wondering if the quest is broken for anyone else? Have the mechanics changed (i.e. am I doing something wrong)? Or has the quest been removed?

If I had to guess, I'd say the quest's been temporarily disabled, after some people were completing them nonstop in order to level up their guild super fast.

I didn't even know people did that, but yeah, in that case it would make sense that Blizz disabled it until it's fixed.

I'm surprised that quest gave xp in the first place, as it's always been repeatable.

So I just read the response to the ticket I submitted about this yesterday, and it basically said "Thanks for allerting us to this, we'll look into it and hotfix it". Which seems like they weren't aware of the issue, so it doesn't look like they disabled it on purpose. Maybe they tried to fix it and broke it by accident? Anyway, they know now, so I hope they'll get around to fixing it soon.

There's actually a few quests that are currently broken since the patch. Such as the jousting one in Hyjal, the one with the hippogryph mounts that rewards the jouster mini-pet.

Oddly, both these quests are pet related, I wonder if there are any other mini-pet related quests that are currently bugged...

Just because a GM says something doesn't make it so. They've been wrong many times before. It's a fact that the quest was working before people started exploiting it... It wasn't the first quest to be exploited and promptly disabled, and it probably won't be the last.

Since there was a little patch today, I tried the quest again and it's working! Woot!

It's still repeatable, but doesn't seem to give any rep or xp.
