Forced Green Coloration -- New Fragile Appearance for pets!
Hand of Gul'dan + Drain Life in an instant of each other will cause a pet to turn green, and stay that way until death -- leaving it a fragile buff, though a repeatable one.
Taming Steps:
1-. Cast Tame Beast
2-. When it's about to finish, my friend casts hand of Guldan + Drain Life
- If the pet dies and the tame succeeds, at the time of reviving it loses the color.
- If the pet it's alive at the time tame beasts finishes, it acquires a green color, if it dies after that, when it get revives it returns to it's original color, losing the green.
* Thanks to Tsukina for this!
-----
For duels to color previously owned pets:
1) Check out your Hand of Guldan's instant damage number in the tooltip.
2) Lower the hunter's hp to a bit lower than that number, so that they will 'die', aka exit combat when you win the duel.
3) Cast the Hand on their pet (aoe damage should be killing the hunter, so make sure they're next to each other).
4) This part is up to your computer's speed. I personally cast Drain Life on the pet once I see the tip of the HoG crystal halfway to the mob -- it may be different for other people. What you're aiming for is to cast Drain Life before it begins to tick its DOT, since there's a tiny period of green-coloration before the damage icon appears.
5) If the pet dies, it will NOT have the green coloring. If it stays alive, it will keep the green.
*Your pet will not regain health from the duel until it enters combat, so just kill a critter.
You (or your friend)can practice on any low-hp mob outside of Org to get the hang of the timing.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't know anyone with a hunter but if anyone wants to try, just whisper me on Biche, WrA horde.Jessibelle wrote:Interesting. Well it never hurts to try! I imagine it'll be tricky.

I have 2 Horde hunters there, level 40 something and level 20ish, I would like to try it with you. PM if you have a time when you want to set this up.

Always be kind to your pets... or else.
When the last moon is cast over the last star of morning
And the future has passed without even a last desperate warning

would it still happen to a hunter's pet during a duel?Dialga wrote:I've been noticing something strange recently when leveling my warlock -- specifically, the fact I can now 'color' mobs at will. If I time my Drain Life correctly and hit it as the mob is about to die, the mobs and then corpses turn green and stay that way all the way till they disappear to despawn.
Now, I know the appearance taming method seems to be fixed except for 'despawning' mobs like the Outlands Blue Mist bird, but if someone wants to test this with mobs that do force-despawn, it may have some interesting results.

Edit: Definitely getting the hang of it. Seems Hand of Guldan on them helps greatly. Perhaps they need to be killed by a dot while drain life is active? Still testing.
Yep. So the best method is getting the thing to a sliver of health, then I cast Hand of Guldan and Drain Life as quickly as I can. Bout a 2/3 success rate and it'll stay green forever.
I mean, that would be awesome XD

I don't mind that, perhaps battletag? I'm still not sure what that feature actually does...Qinni wrote:How did you actually do it? Like step by step how to do kinda thing. I want a pet like that! *maybe if I gave you my battle net we can try in cross realms or something*
Anyway, the best way I can describe it is:
1) Check out your Hand of Guldan's instant damage number in the tooltip.
2) Lower the mob, or pet's, hp to a bit lower than that number, so that it will die immediately when the Hand hits it.
3) Cast the Hand.
4) This part is up to your computer's speed. I personally cast Drain Life once I see the tip of the HoG crystal halfway to the mob -- it may be different for other people. What you're aiming for is to cast Drain Life before it begins to tick its DOT, since there's a tiny period of green-coloration before the damage icon appears.
?) You may have to lower the hunter's hp itself too -- I unintentionally one-shot her with the HoG's aoe effect on her pet. The pet ceased combat and received drain life at the same time, and hobbled back over to its master all green. Though, it may not matter as long as the pet dies.
You (or your friend)can practice on any low-hp mob outside of Org to get the hang of the timing.
As for whether it persists or not, I'm not sure yet -- computer's being troubleshooted after overheating when I was striking a deal with another hunter to come with me to try and tame something, and now I'm waiting for it to reinstall Cata, since apparently that got purged in the reboot. Though she seemed to have no problem with it in combat once the HP returned.
If it doesn't, I'd still like to try it out on a pet being tamed, since WoW seems to take (or at least it took before the fix) a proverbial permanent snapshot of the mob as the tame finished, like the flaming boar, patch of fire, Garwal's worgen form, etc.
Oh -- and this can also be done to players too!

Because I can kill an npc with your instructions and it's true, an npc is green, but is it possible to tame?
Re: Forced Green Coloration -- New Appearance for pets!!! WO
Might be! I still haven't had a chance to test with a hunter trying to tame a beast. And yes, I dueled that troll in the SS and turned her pet green -- she's only level 6, she couldn't tame something else even if she wanted to.Dragnir wrote:I am confused, do you need to duel with a hunter to change color of his/her pet or you can tame a pet with changed color?
