Failed attempt at helping a friend get Aeonaxx cross-realm

Unread post by Royi »

Hiya folks:

I was just wondering if I could get some clarification from someone who knows how cross realm zones work. I was herbing on my level 84 at the time Monk in Deepholm this weekend and low and behold, Aeonaxx spawned right in front of me. As I watched him circle around and around in one little spot (for some reason I thought he pathed, but he just stayed in one spot) I checked my guild to see if anyone wanted him (no one did which was odd or no one cared enough to quit their Pandaria-grinding)... so I invited a Battletag friend who jumped in the zone. She was a level 90 druid.

Once she joined my party and zoned in to deepholm though I unfortunately became phased in her zone instead of mine, and therefore Aeonaxx vanished in front of me.

I tried unsuccessfully leaving group, porting back to Org, port back etc... but Aeonaxx was gone by that point (perhaps someone else got her)

Anyone know the logistics for helping friends get rares?

To my knowledge, atleast what I've heard, Blizz was fixing it so people can't take rares like that via cross realm. I don't know if thay hotfix has been implemented or not. They've done quite a few sneaky hotfixes that weren't listed(ie the firepet thing).

Who had lead? It used to be that you would end up on the same server as party leader. The details could be null now though. I think they have changed it so that the server is determined by your server’s time zone so that you can’t change the outcome of whose server you end up on. (if that makes any sense? O.o) I think they hotfixed a bunch of stuff after the darkmoon rabbit thing.

I was the leader and invited her. She was level 90 though, I was told by someone since she had a higher level that perhaps it defaults to the higher levels realm?

I'll post a screenshot since people like screenshots of Aeonaxx in the wild. I just hope Aeonaxx didnt despawn and that at least soemone was out there to nab him.

I think there's a rule that it goes to the highest level's realm no matter the leader. Or some weird rules like that now. I read them somewhere. There still is a way to do it but it's based on level and number of ppl from the same realm.

Poor friend. But, wild Aeonaxx screenshot!! You're a good person for trying though, I hope it went to someone in the end of just vanishing.

Thanks :) I keep forgetting to post it. I probably would have been one of the first Monk's to kill Aeonaxx if I would have done it myself, but I would have felt too bad about looting reins that i can't even learn (even though the encounter I could probably "enjoy" the 2nd time around)

I bet for many people like myself during the first Aeonaxx kill its more of a "OMG HIT 2 HIT 2 HIT 2 WHERE THE FFF IS MY HEAL BUTTON!!!! 2!!!! 2!!!! 2!!! AOE!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
