Pet threat bugged in WotLK/BC raids

Am I the only one having problems with my pet using growl and other abilities in these raids? My tenacity wolf is holding no threat at all. None of my pets are. Half of the time I end up having to manually casting growl.

I was having that problem last week. I noticed it when I was fighting in the Brawler's guild and saw the same thing happening while I was in Naxx.

Are you using the Bestial Wrath glitch by chance? I know at one point it was bugged so that pets drop all threat while in BW, I'm not sure if that's still the case.

I know for me while I'm in there farming for the pets growl isn't being used by the pet at all for bosses, but will on trash.

After having run Black Temple tonight I can say that almost all bosses are immune to Growl now. This is NOT good.

I'm noticing this, too. I'm doing a lot of raid soloing now that I can enter solo and it's is getting VERY annoying.

Yes, the bosses are immune to Growl so your pet will not even try to use it while fighting a boss. This does not mean, however, that it shouldn't be using it at all like what is happening. It's almost like fighting a boss causes your pet to bug and just not use Growl at all after that. I am having to manually click Growl on my pet's bar to "remind" him that he should still be using it on the normal trash. I've turned it off then back on.

Ontop of that even with Misdirect things just seem to love ignoring my pet. I honestly thought things have been a bit wonky since I came back with Pandaria to begin with, but this is definitely off.

Also, a very bad kitty named Loque'nahak got into the super glue. His mouth is glued shut. He doesn't open his mouth at all. Not for kitty slobber yawn, not the normal open shut the cats do while they stand.. nothing.

just finished black temple and my pet used growl just fine, but for a while in raid finder my pet dident use anny abilities at all, just its auto attack.

I remember noticing the 'no growl' problem when I was farming for the minipets, actually. Most of the stuff in Naxx, the pet wasn't bothering to growl at, and when manually triggered, I was getting 'immune'. Thing is, even if a boss is immune to the taunting, they generally aren't immune to a burst of threat. So on autocast, it'd still be nice. I guess in raid soloing, growl has become something to macro onto arcane.

Ugh, yes, my pet started doing this in ICC and EoE, as well as Naxx and a few other places. It's really annoying, seeing as growl DOES work on most of those bosses. Now my pet won't even cast Growl, which means I either get splattered by the boss or I need to constantly have Misdirect on/stop attacking and let my pet do the killing.

It seems after the patch that in general growl and pet threat broke horribly.

While pre 5.1 my pet was holding treat like a boss (on bosses and normal mobs in pandaria)and even if iI did get treat it was manageable to get it pack to the pet. Now after the patch I peel of mobs even when autoshoting and the moment the mob comes after me after a couple of shots (and my gear did not change in these last 2-3 weeks) its pretty much impossible to get proper amount of treat back on the pet even with md,fd and manually clicking growl.

I noticed on passive the pets simply does not cast it at all even if you have it on autocast on defensive it does cast but it seems to taunt like a wet noodle.

I have noticed this too, and I have theory (no real information) what caused this to happen.

If I recall right (correct me if I'm wrong), Blizzard changed Growl in this patch so that it doesn't cause dimishing returns when pet uses it on target which is immune to it (but not to "real" taunts). My guess is that that they did this by somehow making bosses who couldn't be taunted by pet "more" immune to growl taunt, which caused bug where it can't create any threat on those targets.

Just my speculation, but given by what kind of bugs we have had because of small changes I wouldn't be surprised.

I've only solo'd Attumen, Moroes, and Opera in Kara on my hunter, to try for the mount and the rifle. Things in those died so quickly I didn't really notice any threat issues.

However, last night, while just doing Golden Lotus dailies, I found myself having just regular mob aggro issues. I was using a tanky pet (chibee) and more often than not, would steal aggro even when just going after one mob. I thought maybe I'd turned his growl off, but, nope, it was on all right.

This was not an issue last week. I duoed Naxx with a fellow pet collector and my pet tanked the entire thing fine except Gluth.

Today? I had to tank patchwerk. I had to tank everything.

Something got seriously borked.

I noticed the same problem when 5.1 hit and went to WHU to see if there was any talk about it, and they too noted that it's specifically BC & LK level content. That said, it hasn't really affected my ability to solo the stuff. Misdirect has still been working for me, so I've been using that (and FD) more liberally. And honestly, if you're level 90, most old bosses like Onyxia won't hurt much even if they're right in your face (though Sunwell was surprisingly painful!)

What I think happened was they didn't want hunters standing back and pet tanking in Brawler's Guild and tweaked something somewhere that messed things up. Because I've noticed lock pets in Brawler's Guild doing fine, but hunter pets are not only unable to hold aggro, they're getting two or three shotted. I don't mind if the intent is that we not rely on pets as tanks for Brawler's Guild but then it should be equal for all classes with access to pets.

I am glad I am not the only person experiencing this. I am getting annihilated on Illidari Council because of how much they hit me for lol. It is slightly annoying. I tweeted Ghostcrawler but I don't think he ever responded.

My fiance was having some serious pet issues in Ulduar and Tempest Keep last week. We were wondering if it was just the game bugging on him or what... looks like it's not just him having issues. In Ulduar, his pet would just... NOT attack. Anything. Didn't matter if he put it on aggressive or defensive mode. In Tempest Keep, things seemed fine, until we got to the Kael'thas fight. As soon as it started, his pet looked like it was seizing and teleporting up to the mobs, then reset and just would not attack again.

Just now he was fighting a few mobs in Vale of Eternal Blossoms, wondering why his pet wasn't grabbing aggro... he killed the one he was fighting, turned around, and there was Roxas, attacking a completely random mob. O.o

That sounds exactly like what happened to me in Tempest Keep. Halfway through the Kael fight, my pet suddenly froze and refused to move at all. And when I feigned, my pet suddenly despawned, reseting the fight. The whole time he was refusing to use Growl on Kael or the other bosses.

Hrmm interesting. I'll have to pay more attention. I'll be honestly and say that I use MD a lot when soloing, to the point I don't notice I've not turned growl back on sometimes. I had a bit of an issue killing one of the new rares(in hopes of an invite), which is probably because I wasn't' bothering with MD, because it was single target. I just assumed my turtle got stunned or something. I'm going to have to check this out tomorrow.

After reading all these posts here I tried Kara yesterday with Emerwen. My turtle didn't use growl on Midnight and it's rider. When I manually clicked it I became an "immune"-notice. I had aggro of both but killed them quickly. Then I went on up the stairs to the left. On my way to the opera event I noticed Archibald's dot on the minimap running away. He wasn't attacking but simply ran away in direction of the entrance. Once he was out of sight I called him back and he behaved. Opera event went fine and on normal mobs he used growl like he was supposed to. At the Kurator I had aggro again.

And like Torachi sometimes I find my pet battling a complete random mob. At first it was only the stampede pets running off to a new target after the old one was dead, as if they had the old aggro stance back. But now even my normal pet sometimes just runs into a group and pulls something. Totally annoying in dungeons when the tank is asking "who pulled this group?" and you have to point to your pet like in the old days....
