On the lookout for graphicly beautifull PvE MMorpg

Unread post by Ana »

I love aion i really do.. but the pvping.. ughnknk

If i search on google i get tons of post telling ppl searching for solo PvE mmorpg to just buy a console game like NvN or BB

But i LIKE mmorpgs.. i like that i can buy stuff from the ah/broker if i dont want to grind it my self.

I love beautifull sourroundings like aion

Atm FFXIV is closed down due to the new expansion... so thats no option.

So i turn to you :D

Requirements for "my" type of MMORPG

1) NO pvp - or pvp restricted to bgs like WoW so i dont have to do them

2) Stunning Graphic

3) Very detailed charecter creation

4) Able to solo alot of the quests at your own lvl. Grp quets are ok - i can just do them at a later lvl - but they must not be the majority of the quets

5) Good (and easy (i mean eazy to do while ur crafting.. i dont mind grinding for my gear.) crafting

6) Preferable beast/monster/etc mobs over humanoid mobs. - i dont like kiling humans or humanoids

Both Forsaken world and Perfect world are fun games, the character creation isnt that extensive but the graphics are pretty decent for free to play games. I absolutely love the elves in forsaken world myself

this is my priest Calgos (yes he's a blue dragon :) ) in Forsaken world

Image

they make money in a similar way to Guild Wars 2 with an ingame store for mounts, upgrades and whatnot where you can use real money, you can use the inworld currency exchange but the rates are usually pretty outlandish.

I'd say Guild Wars 2 would be up your alley.

Problem with Guildwars 2 is that as i see it its a wow lookalike.. takes almost no time to get to high lvl and then its grind grind grind - or have i gotten it wrong...

And is the PvE figthing in GW mostly towards beasts and not humanoids?

I´ve tried forsaken worlds.. not really my cup of tea... graphic wise not pretty enough ;)

The game doenst need to be free to play as im looking for a game to settle with.

I have high hopes for ESO (Elderscrolls online) but that might be awhile before thats rdy

I'd say swtor yes there is pvp but you don't need to do it for any reason at all, except for pvp armour (think of resillience but then as a huge chunk of the stat bonusses)
and the pve, storytelling, graphics are nice (in my perspective)
there are lots of humanoid/alien mobs though (depends on the planet)
crafting is rather easy to do, just send u'r companions off to do it
you can try out for free (with a lot of inconveniences though :/)
(character creation is also widely expanded...but not as f2p..)

and i'd always be willing to help with the 2-3 group quests per planet with my soon to be lvld scoundral on republic or my lvld mercenary on imperial side :) (red eclipse server)

SWTOR is not a game for me :) thanks for the suggestion though. Its fare to hightech for me :D

And the humnoids u need kiling is not good either ;)

There must be a good fantasy based (read none high tech) game out there which doenst based its PvE on killing humanoids and where the PvP are restricted to bg/areas where u talk to a npc and be whisked away to do pbp away form the rest of us :)

I might just have to wait for ESO ;)

but stil open for suggestions for a Pve mostly beast/monster killing game with great graphic :D

I'd say its more twords humanoids than beasts, there's a good mix. And honestly every single mmo out there is grind grind grind, I don't think GW2 grind is any worse than anything else out there. (When aion came out holy eff the level grind was awful)

Honestly Tarn, there isn't an MMO like that as far as I know cause MMOs don't work like that usually. They do things to engage you with other players. If you want a game for just engaging with NPCs and playing alone, then I'm afraid you likely need to stick to single player games. There's plenty out there with awesome graphics but if you want an MMO, you'll need to conform to what MMOs are for. There's always gonna be pvp in open worlds and in bgs. Removing that removes a large chunk of why people play MMOs.

Guild Wars 2 is probably one of the most beautiful graphically designed MMOs out there. Not much, if any, can top it. Aion looked nice but the grind if 100x worse than WoWs. I've toyed with others, such as SWTOR and Runescape....they didn't really come close(imho).

I don't think there's such a thing as 'solo' mmorpg. MMORPG is "Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game" for a reason. If it is an MMO of any kind, it's not solo, even if you can do a few things in it on your own. Solo games mean you're playing a single player game where you interact with no one but the NPCs.

Not trying to be a downer but what you're looking for is...well...impossible if you want an MMO. If you want solo, then an MMO doesn't seem the right kind of game for you. This is just my two cents. Can't take out the Multiplayer part and still call it an MMO. Just doesn't work that way, yanno? Even solo games have multiplayer mode(ex: Mass Effect 3 and Halo 4).

We're suggesting games that have the graphics you seek and you can do some content on your own but you wont be able to do everything because eventually, like in any other MMO, you'll need to be with people to see what the game has to offer to it's fullest extent.

I can commit to grp with my husband but thats it :P i soloed Everquest, WoW. Aion, Anarachy Online, Dungeon and Dragons online - cept in wow i never grped with any1 but my husband.. i know it gets harder the higher lvl u get up (only lvl 61 in eq atm) but thats how i like it... :P

I hate killing humanoids and there a bit to many of them in EQ - and aion is full of pvp

I know that every mmorpg has it grinds... and aion is among the worst sometimes. Everquest has aa grind.. i know u cannot avoid grind.. but u could maybe have 50 (or 15) different zones to grind in so you could have a change of sceanary

I WILL find a mmorpg i can settle with - i know it.. even if i have to make it myself :P

ESO is looking good because eventhough its a mmorpg u can CHOOSE to be a solo player - or atleast thats what they say in their comment.

Also like to see how Everquest next is gonna be - they claim its gonna be the worlds biggest sandbox game - so that might be interesting.

I like going into the bazaar/ah/broker and buy gear which other ppl have made. I LOOOOOOVE making money from selling gear which i found.

I dont oppose to ALL kinds of community - but i HATE when endgames offer you nothing but raids, dailyquest and things like that.

I wanna go explore by my self and still get something out from it. I wanna kill a raid boss alone (or with husband) and get rewards for it . I want the raids to scale... so u dont NEED to go in with10/20/40 ppl. Let the loot scale.. if u go in by myself the loot will NEVER be as good as a raid but it leats me explore some of the game which i would never see.

Make the raids intersting... not just focus on tacts and bosses... I hate that if i scratch my nose wrong and doesnt hop on one leg im gonna get killed.

I just want options.... so i dont feel forced by a game to do anything.

I know wow has tons of solo content and that i dont need to grp with anyone.. but at highlvl it gets boring..... to me atleast... I dont want 75 daily quest, i wanna go to a new place, discorver it riches/area/etc and get rewards other then loot/money/justice points. I wanna improve my self and not just with loot.

Eq has a TINY bit of it going with aa... makes u feel like that even if u dont lvl... u lvl anyway... i take that since atm i havent found anything like it -- well rift has some sort of the same but thats harder

I know im kinda of a loner on this issue and i know i probally never will find MY game unless i design one myself :D

I like graphics but its not the overall win - i just want an option to go explore by myself and then if i WANT to - not cause i NEED to in order to improve my char - i can find a grp/raid etc

Nothing wrong with playing MMOs mostly solo. One of the reasons I love MoP is that it's so solo-friendly.

It sounds to me like you're looking more for a sandbox/open world game rather than an MMO. Have you looked into things like Skyrim?

I suspect that right now WoW is probably the most solo-friendly MMO on the market.

A bit of palindromic wisdom:
"Step on no pets!"
Casual player.. don't raid, don't PvP. Suffer from extreme altitis
I love pets - combat or non.

Well that depends on what u want from wow..... Do u want to do quest and dailyes and old content raids - then yes you can solo. Do you want to evolve your charecters gear and experience the higher dungeons and raids - then no you cannot solo

but that's exactly what you're asking of another MMO...

if you want to achieve the highest levels of gear/activities you will need to group with other players, regardless of which game you play. That is, by its very definition, what an MMO is.

As I said, WoW is probably the MOST solo-friendly of all the MMOs on the market right now.

Personally, I play WoW because I like the story, I love the quests, I enjoy being with the few friends I have in the game and my guild mates, and I enjoy mostly soloing. I don't care for the latest graphics. My computers can't handle them anyway. And in my opinion, unless the stories and quests are also better, I see no point in having better graphics.

I've tried AION, and yes, some of its graphics are quite nice. But I found the story underwhelming. I've played FF:XI in the past, and still think its graphics were better than WoW's ever were, except FF:XI was a hopeless grind-fest and was less than enjoyable to solo (read: next to impossible).

So I'm sticking with what has so far brought met he most pleasure. I'm not criticizing you, but just stating where I stand on this. You asked for a "beautiful" solo-friendly MMO.. I think so far the consensus is that you probably won't find exactly what you're looking for. Every time someone makes a recommendation, you shoot it down with an additional requirement like no PvP, no killing humanoids, etc...

Makes the task a difficult one.

But...that IS my task :P

alrigth closing this argument then :P - but i will not stop my search for a
1) non violent (read only beast killing cause hunting is ok - but cutting violence out all together will not be a bad thing either. And a tale in the desert are just boring :) )
2) optional grp/raid system where the loot scale with the numbers of ppl there are in there from 1 person to 40.
3) HUUUUGE world with a trillion zones to explore and where you can choose if u want to be alone in them or wanna go there with other ppl

I started to learn how to design games.. so in 15 years or so  i will be launching my own mmorpg - or what ever it would be called :P

Tarn, every MMO has stuff you can do solo but not everything, especially not end game content. ESO is no different. WoW is the most player and solo friendly, GW2 not too far behind. You can do different zones for change of scenery and everything. But not killing humanoids? All MMOs will have you killing a humanoid of some kind, whether mutated or otherwise.

My fiance suggests EVE Online, however there's pvp zones, which you don't want. And it's all humanoids. But if you build your character online to trade in the safe zones, you could be okay.

There's also Maple Story, Gaia Online, and if you're willing to pay - Dungeon Fighter Online.

My sis in law suggested Second Life.
