Quick question regarding the Hydralisk...

Unread post by Kirjava »

Hey folks,
I was just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this: I'm one of the (comparatively) few lucky people who managed to tame the hydralisk before it was removed, and to be honest, he's been stuck in my stables for about 95% of the time since then. This is a real shame in my eyes, but I've not been able to find confirmation as to whether they're classed as a "bugged" pet or not. IE, if I was to bring Whampage out of the stables and start using him, would I lose him if he died or anything? My fear was slightly lessened when he was finally given a hydra icon, but with the class still not being tameable, I'm terrified that if I do use him and he dies I'll lose him :(
Has anyone risked it/asked/been able to find out either way? I'd love to go smack the Sha of Fear around with him, but at the same time I'm afraid (get it!) that if I use it, I'll lose it, so to speak...

Thanks in advance for any help,
'Java

A 'bugged pet', as yuo're describing it, are those who have an actual aura. The hydra doesn't have a naura. It physically *is* a hydra. You're safe!
Come see Kurasu's stables!

Fantastic news Kurasu, thanks very much for that, and yeah I suppose that's a far more logical way than I was looking at it. Yay! Hydra raiding time!

Due to the fact that they gave them their own family (instead of crocs in disguise they are now fully hydras) I'd say they're safer than safe.

I use both my Hydra (actually named Hydralisk, too) and my ooze (Oozeling) all the time :) I generally have my ooze as a tenacity pet for dailies etc, and my Hydra as ferocity.

How did u managed to tame an Hydra? And also an Ooze (is that right?) ? I didnt know that they were both tamable in any point... =O

Also, is it possible yet to tame them?

They both used to be in the beginning of Wrath of the Lich King, but are no longer availible.

As Ivansteel says, the ooze and hydra were both quest mobs for a daily quest in Sholazar Basin. At the very start of Wrath of the Lich King, they were incorrectly flagged as tameable. This was fixed quite quickly, leaving a lucky few with one or more of these pets.

The mobs in question were Spirit of Atha and Spirit of Koosu. Originally, both were classed as members of the crocolisk family, like the third quest mob Spirit of Ha-Khalan (which actually is a ghostly crocolisk, and was tameable at the same time. Likely all the pets were duplicated from the crocolisk spirit, and then had their apprearances changed). Due to the pet family and appearance, I named my hydra "Hydralisk".

The Hydra has since been given its own pet family, which is very much like the wolf family.
