Simple Question: Castbar add-on choice?

Unread post by Tratzul »

I recently got the addon LunarSphere (due to I'm a clicker hunter, not ashamed of it. My fingers go in knots otherwise with keybinds... @.@)

And I was wondering, what kind of castbar addon should I use?

I'm don't like messing with a ton of features, so I prefer something simple.... and I only use Curse for my add-ons (as well as the add-ons I like, and up to date).

Is Quartz something good?

I use quartz, and take it from me, it is a great choice. It's useful for all classes. It times your auto attacks, casts, and debuffs on target. The only issue is that it makes for breath bar tiny while swimming.

Ok. I'll try Quartz and see if I like it.

Thank you. ^.^

I use Quartz as well, I think it's the standard cast bar replacement mod really. The only issue I have with Quartz is that the swing timer (the timer that monitors your automatic attacks, so in the case of Hunters, AutoShot) is glitchy. However, the same thing happens with the AutoShot timer in the ZHunter mod so I think it may be a WoW bug and not an addon bug.

I just want to add another vote for quartz. I love that I can always easily see what debuffs I have up on the mob (though my eyes still drift to their portrait from time to time out of habit) and I haven't seen a single class it's not useful for. On my shammy it even tells me the number of ES orbs left on my focus target! <3

Casting my vote for Quartz too, it shows stuff rather nicely (no it doesn't show when is lunch time sadly)...even if it is kinda hard to move around in my opinion.

I don't find it is, Sonata - if you unlock all the elements you want to move simultaneously, you get a very clear picture of where to put them and how they fit together. Much easier than some other addons I've used... >_<

Mhmm, but the GUI for the options can be confusing to navigate for a non techy. I wish some of these guys wouldn't use such complicated language.

I'm not sure what you mean, as a non-techie... ;) I just opened the options menu and found the sub-menus for the main cast bar, the focus bar, and the target cast bar. Then I unlocked the three by unchecking the box that says "lock" or something to that effect (it was very intuitive) and moved them.

I guess it's a stupid question, but is that what you refer to when you say GUI?

GUI= Graphical User Interface

And I may be thinking of an old version of quartz. I remember grid's used to be a headache before grid 2, now it's simple to navigate.

You aren't alone.

I'm a clicky hunter too.
:<

[Editness]

As for the addons, I can't really give advice on any. My computer apparently shuns the addons and simply refuses to let me get any/download/install them.

Grid is simple to navigate now?? Man! I've been using healbot because my Grid settings accidentally got erased and I didn't want to spend another full day to recreate my settings.

As for quartz, I really don't know. I mean, I know it's as simple as I described in my GUI (hah, new thing learned today! I was waiting for it ;)) but I've no idea what was what before. :\

Actually the options are simple but...for example I can move Grid around instantly but it's needed anyway. Maybe it's more along the lines that the bars are named oddly. I'm not at my own computer so I can't say anything precise. It just seems like well I don't know which bar is which....but I'm getting the hang of it.

But I really need to take some time to actually set them properly.
