Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
Does that happen for trainer battles too? I thought I heard that it would only be for wild pet battles.

Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
No no. Not permanently. 10% as in, it takes damage to 10% of its maximum health. So you're encouraged not to run away from battles, but to actually fight them.Qinni wrote:wait...dose the pet lose health permanently?
And if you can't fight them, then you would have taken the damage anyway, so 10% is a bonus.
However, when you retreat from a battle, your opponent instantly respawns, just like you'd disconnected.

Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
Going to be horribly annoying having to swap pet groups every 5 or so mobs; guess that's kinda the point though.
Suppose I'd better try to find an addon that lets me set up more than 8 groups of pets. /sigh
I'm assuming they still haven't flagged the pets as friendly (pretty sure people will just make a macro to kill them after forfeit)?
Really wish they'd added a currency received after winning a pve pet battle, that could be used to upgrade (wild caught only) pets to rare instead of resorting to this though (the battlestones are too rare and RNG to acquire, and there's too many uncommon pets that need upgrading to use them on wild ones).
Guess I had better go farm up the last 30 or so rares I have left, before this goes live.

Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
This will make finding the pets you want easier, as they will still stay up till they are caught.
I believe if you can believe out of nothing an explosion (big bang) happened then how far fetched can god be?

Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
Not if people kill them after they forfeit because there wasn't a rare, and they want to force a respawn... you know it will happen unless they're flagged to be unkillable.AdamSavage wrote:This will make finding the pets you want easier, as they will still stay up till they are caught.
Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
^ Which I will do constantly, just to prove to Blizzard this change is idiotic.
Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
Just gotta pray that Bliz isn't asinine enough to make all of the wild battle pets friendly, as their next stage of anti-rare farming.Myzou wrote:^ Which I will do constantly, just to prove to Blizzard this change is idiotic.

Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
The thing is, this isn't 'anti-rare farming'. They encourage you to farm for rares. What they *don't* encourage is people farming for rares by running away from every battle that isn't rare. If it isn't a rare, then fight the battle, or leave it alone and mark it.
This is actually a way to make it easier for people to leave a pet behind for other people, so that things such as Minfernals, Scouraged Whelplings, and the like are easier to get that 'first one' of as people farm for their rare. Blizzard wants you to fight the pet battles. Not to mow through the models and not leave others a chance to get any.
A) let people more easily leave a mob up for other people to take
B) make running away from a battle punitive.
Rather than just saying 'The idea is stupid', make suggestions on how they can make it better.

Then if you find the change idiotic, let's hear your suggestion for a change that will^ Which I will do constantly, just to prove to Blizzard this change is idiotic.

Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
But then that shows Blizz is assuming that's what everyone is doing and that's hardly the problem. Most people grab the first minfernal/scourged whelpling they see. Others? They grief...by killing them with an aoe. It happens all the time.
So what can they do? Not do this and make BPs unkillable by making them friendly targets. AOEs shouldn't affect them or anything. This 10% health crud isn't going to stop anyone or the current problems. Or make them not despawn when you run away.

Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
I'm sorry but killing things just to prove a point because YOU do not like things is a little harsh. I like the punitive aspect because not everyone gives a dang if the rare spawn ones are rare, we're just happy to get them so please try and remember there are other people in this fantasy world.Myzou wrote:^ Which I will do constantly, just to prove to Blizzard this change is idiotic.
*edited because its early and I may have come across a little rougher than I intended.
Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
If my pets are taking damage cause I choose to forfeit, I will kill the pet. I don't really care.
I'm a nice person, but if Blizzard punishes me for trying to help others, screw helping others.

Re: Quick 5.2 Pet Battle Info
I whole heartedly agree. You can be upset about it(I personally don't think it's a big deal myself I'd just catch it and sell it/give it away if it was rare and I didn't want it.) I level my pets by battling other pets. I never run if I'm farming them in the wild and I've yet to encounter any real rare pets. However to say you'd kill them because you aren't happy is in a sense griefing. Which I thought the hunter community was against. I'm against griefing in all aspects of the game.Syleye wrote:I'm sorry but killing things just to prove a point because YOU do not like things is a little harsh.
