Bulletdance's work for me... (a few pics)
She created a very specific log for my music books. I just got a final proof back of my sonata for cello and piano, and it looks absolutely awesome. The photos don't do it justice.
This is the outside of the piano score and the solo cello part (each musician gets their own copy of the music, the pianist gets a copy with all the music, while the cellist gets a copy with only his/her part in it). The photo shows the beautiful colour and the black and white version that Melissa made. This second picture shows a bit of the music in the cello part. The third picture shows the "thank-you" page that appears in all of my music books now. I wanted to take the time to publicly thank her for the beautiful work, and acknowledge it in front of our mutual friends.
The "history" behind the logo (and name) is based on the village from which I come. It was a small farming community (until it eventually became simply a suburb of a much larger city), and the farmers wore sheepskin vests to protect themselves from the sun while they worked hunched over in the fields. Thus the name for a person from there was "un dos blanc" (a whiteback). The logo incorporates the farmer with his white vest, and the symbols of that harvest.
At this time, my music is distributed throughout Canada via the Canadian Music Centre (of which I am a member). So hopefully, people from the Maritimes all the way to Vancouver will be seeing Melissa's artwork if they borrow or purchase my music books. (sadly, I make VERY very little money from any sales.. classical music isn't the most remunerative business in the world)

Already I have received many compliments from other composers and from performers. They all find the logo beautiful.
Soon I will be using it on my website (I'm a terrible procrastinator when it comes time to updating my website).
I keep wanting to send you a copy of one of the books, but the post office is a LONG walk from the house, I don't drive, and there are no local buses. After my hospital stay last summer, I find it difficult to walk for extended periods of time.
