Help / Tips for taming Patrannache?

Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong forum I didn't think we could post requests in the Help by Realm thread.

Hey, I've recently hit level 87, and ever since the announcement of the Pandaren rares, I've wanted to tame Patrannache. I've already managed to track down Savage and get Hexapos for my boyfriend, but ever yet does this menace of a pink crane manage to elude me. I don't know if it's that I'm just not seeing the tracks, I'm doing it at level w/o flying, or if I'm following his pathing wrong. Either way, I'm stumped.

Would any hunters be willing to help me or give me pointers? I'm level 87 on Moon Guard, Horde side, and would really appreciate it Again, apologies if I put this thread in the wrong place.

I patrolled around the Halfhill area of the map to find mine. My best advice would be to find an area that you can see fairly well in and stay there for awhile, watching for the tracks. His tracks are pretty small, so turning down your ground clutter should help some.

It is a lot of waiting for him unless you wish to follow his full path (which is a headache). I'd offer to help you track him but I'm on Garona and an alli. My horde hunter hasn't hit the area yet, she is just barely 82.

Took me a bit to find his tracks and you have to still follow them as if it's walking backwards. When I spotted his tracks (I missed him by so much) I flew the the area I knew he would be and kept casting flare.

There's a small edge of land between the river at the south and the cliff that's in Krasarang, and that edge of land between the brewery and the granary. There aren't many aggressive mobs on that little edge of land, and that's where I patrolled back and forth to find my Patrannache. Turn down your ground clutter and just keep an eye out for his footprints.

This helped me immensely. Only had to camp for about an hour before I spotted his tracks.
Sadly, by the time I did, I went off to track before I noticed he'd pathed into the opposing bordering cliff with all the aggressive mobs. I lost him (Read; died.), but at least I know where to go now. I'll probably save my tracking of this guy for my end-game challenges / when I get Four Winds flying.

Thorka-- admittedly, aside from tracking Portent, who just will NOT leave me alone, I am not the best at finding the tracks for the other rares.... but I am happy to walk with you and kill the mobs around when not frantically doing dailies to earn gold for new mounts

If tracking Patrannache down is proving troubling, there is a way to get the beautiful crane without worrying about aggressive mobs, or even spotting any tracks. It harkens back to our old ways of camping. There is a ravine one the southern and western side of the plateau within the zone. Patrannache paths through this ravine while making rounds across the zone. There are no aggressive mobs nearby. In fact, the only thing near you would be a couple of goats and some ground critters. It's a nice, peaceful little spot. The great thing about this ravine is that it is is very narrow, and when Patrannache walks through it, there is absolutely no way the pink crane can avoid your flare. So. If you plant yourself at the base of this ravine and simply spam flare into it, eventually the crane will walk right to you.

Using this method, it took me roughly 35 minutes to get my Patrannache.

Now, if you want the challenge of tracking him down, (and I don't blame you, tracking is fun), you can ignore this. But, if you're just eager to have him already, this definitely works--provided he's 'up', of course. I have a map showing where the ravine is, but because I don't want to spoil it for others, I'll just put it in a link, here: The Ravine

Camping a spot on his path means you're committing possibly up to two hours of your life while he patrols around.

I basically flew laps around the valley at 90 with my ground clutter down to the lowest setting. Took me a few goes to find him but was well worth it

I caught Patrannache last night by flare-camping. I watched the videos until I could pick out an EXACT spot where he crossed fishable water, and just sat there with a constant flare and leveled my fishing for a while. I got lucky - he crossed into the circle of light after less than 10 minutes. After taming him I walked backwards along his path because I have never ONCE seen even ONE of his tracks while flying around. After taming him, I'm not surprised at that; even when his position was verified he left exactly one track in the entire distance he could reasonably have had them visible. Fish-camping is unglamorous, but it's also a lot less frustrating than trying to legitimately track a rare that effectively doesn't leave tracks.

keep ground clutter at lowest.
combine aspect of cheetah with camoflauge( you can pratically bypass every mob)
if you lose the trail, start flairing up the area, if nothing if found, move up on the route a few yards. (having the route mapped is great help for when you lose the tracks)

I used this method as well. However, there were a few points where I lost his track progress (my former computer was so low-res that the game was borderline unplayable), so be careful. Also beware of other hunters - I had one person steal the tag, glitch him, and then leave. He became grey to me, and no amount of shooting or slapping "Tame Beast" fixed him. I'd suggest looking for him during times where your server has lowest activity if you want to be mildly safer.

If its really hard to find the tracks then flare camping. I find it very hard to track him, so i sit just on the westside of Halfhill flare camping him. I got lucky he shows up after 45 minutes.

I think the pink crane on Timeless is level 91? Last I read, which was a while ago, but I could very well be mistaken!
I tamed Patrannache tonight, using TomTom & Paste seemed to be the best way. While in Valley I input this into Paste (an addon that lets you post large things at once), and it puts the route ON your map which is much much nicer than trying to follow the path while looking at screenies...
I didn't write these out, got them from a post on wowhead but I did edit it because they wouldn't work for me without removing Valley of the four winds from the description. In the end I found Patrannache at around 20 50 after throwing my flare down on one of the waypoints. The crane was gray for me, not sure why, but it didn't effect my ability to tame it. I also didn't see any tracks at that particular area.
