Fire Emblem

Unread post by Senna-Umbreon »

So, uh, I'm not entirely sure how to start this off because I suck at making threads and wow I haven't posted on these forums in forever, but I felt like we should have a thread for the Fire Emblem series here, as I know at least a couple people here besides me have played at least some of the games. XD

...So... Yeah. Fire Emblem thread. Go go discussion?

Uh... What games have you guys played? What's your favourite game? Err. Yeah, I suck at this. XD But oh well. It's worth flailing around like an idiot trying to make a thread just to have a thread for these games. I just hope this thread won't just immediately die due to my apparent inability to start a legitimate discussion. XD

You knew I played FE already Senna buuuuuuuut.

I do in fact play FE. It was kind of the work of both Senna and my father that got me hooked. Senna mentioned it occasionally to me, so when my father bought Awakening I figured why not, I'd try it. I was hooked. I held the 3DS hostage and finished the game in maybe two, three days. After I devoured Awakening I was given Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones to play. I ended up gong through the Ephraim chapter there, good times had. I'm very very very slowly trying to make progress now on FE:7 but blargh. I dunno I got burned out or something.

As for favorite game...I dunno. Awakening is the easiest and I really enjoy how it handles supports and whatnot. It also holds a special place in my heart for being my first FE game. But on the other hand, FE8 was the first "hardcore" FE game I played (meaning I wasn't playing casual, hah.) so it also has a special place in my heart for me. So I'm a huge fan of both games.

Oh oh oh and my favorite classes are wyvern riders and cavaliers. (Though generally I just love mounted units over all.) I can't say I have a favorite character, mostly because I love all of them so much. XD

I think I played one a looong time ago, on the ps1...Not sure which one it was, but I think i started off as a baby dragon? Maybe I am thinking of a different game...Although I've seen many of the FE games in the stores, I've never been able to really afford to buy one (even used they cost a lot) but would definitely give it a go if I got my hands on a copy!

Haaa, it just hit me that I probably should have actually talked about the games that I've played when starting this thread. Derp. XD

The games that I've played so far are Awakening, FE7 (AKA Blazing Sword), Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. ...Well, okay, sorta. Awakening is the only one I've actually beaten. XD I'm close to beating FE7, but I've watched a Let's Play of the game, so I know the entire story anyway. Currently working at both PoR and RD. Slowly. XD I actually got RD first, funnily enough, but I'm probably gonna beat PoR before I get back to RD, even if I'm reaally close to getting to the final story arc of RD. I'm only on Chapter 12 in PoR. XD

As for favourite game... Oh boy. I'm not actually sure. I admit, Awakening was the first game I played, but since a Let's Play of FE7 is what got me into the series in the first place... FE7 is REALLY special to me. So it's arguably my favourite, as fun as Awakening is. XD But, granted, I generally love all of the games I've played/am playing. RD is quickly becoming one of my favourites, actually. It's such a fun game. PoR is.. Well, I'm enjoying it. A lot. But I'm still not far enough into it to really say how much I like it, but yeah. XD

...And to follow up on Azu's favourite class thing, I gotta say, I'm VERY fond of Shamans, Mages, Pegasus Knights and Thieves. ...Okay, Myrmidons are pretty great too. XD But I love magic users so much. Even if I'm REALLY not happy with what Awakening did with Dark Magic users... Like, I love Anima magic, definitely, but why give it to Dark Mages too? D: They don't really need it. That and not giving promoted Dark Mages staves seems so odd to me, too. Oh and I'm mad that Awakening doesn't have Light Magic. ...Generally, I'm not fond of what that game did with Magic users. XD And a little annoyed about Awakening's Falcon Knights, too. I miss them having swords.

...Err, ahem, technically this isn't "Senna rants about Awakening messing with classes she likes". XD Sorry.

Oh and I legitimately have no idea what character is my favourite. I don't think I could choose, actually. I love so many characters! XD Although I will note that out of the Lord characters... Eliwood may or may not be my favourite. I adore him so much. <3 (Although whoops there's so many awesome Lords that it's really hard to figure out who is my favourite. Derp. XD)

Aaand nope, Makoes, pretttyyy sure you're thinking of a different game. XD

Makoes--I THINK you're talking about some Dragon Quest game, but frankly I wouldn't quote me on that one. I feel like I know what you're talking about though, I vaguely remember something similar. Definitely not Fire Emblem though.

As for myself, I have yet to play a Fire Emblem game closest thing sadly is playing the smash games. But once I can I would really like to get a hold of Fire Emblem: Awakening since my 3ds library is lacking.

I'd definitely suggest picking up Awakening! It's such a great game~ It's a pretty nice way to get started on the series, actually. (Then again, I would also suggest trying to get some of the older FE games, but they're really hard to find, seeing as out of the five that we (AKA anyone outside Japan) got before Awakening.. three are on gaming mediums that are completely defunct now (GBA and GameCube) and the other two are on ones that are very close to being the same. (DS and Wii. But who cares about the DS game, Shadow Dragon, anyway? It's such a bad game. XD Okay, not exactly a BAD game, but since it's a remake of the VERY first FE game, without ANY mechanics updates.. Yeah. It's different from the FE games people are used to now.) But still, as hard as those games are to find, they're veeeery much worth getting! But Awakening is still a good starting point.)

Anywho, I feel like making a silly update on how I'm doing in my playthrough of Path of Radiance.

I got to Chapter.. 20, I think it is? Or I got through it. I guess I'm on Chapter 21 now. I've been having a lot of fun so far! I've noticed that the majority of the units that I'm using are the same exact ones I've been using in Radiant Dawn... XD I like, have no variety. And I have bias. Because I love the characters I'm using. Particularly Marcia. I swear, I have this thing for Pegasus Knights sometimes. In both PoR and RD, I've gone crazy training Marcia. And of course in FE7, I swear to you, Florina is the powerhouse of my units. XD

..Oddly, I'm not as Pegasus Knight-crazy in Awakening. Cordelia is cool, but that's it with them. Derp. XD But back to PoR.. Oh boy, have I been going crazy during this playthrough. I am SO obsessed with getting good level ups for units I like. I swear to you, I nearly drove myself crazy all the times all the times I reset for good level ups for Soren. Particularly in the first chapter he was in.. Oh boy that chapter took me forever, because I'd be damned before I let my favourite little grumpy Mage get a terrible first level up. Didn't help that EVERYTHING in the map could easily gank him. ....He's a lot better now, I might add. In fact, I just promoted him recently and ohgodyouhavenoideahowhappythatmakesme! Because aughsdld I swear to you, Soren is one of my favourite characters, if not my absolute favourite, in FE9/10. So yes. Finally promoting him was amazing. Especially because he still hasn't promoted in my RD playthrough. XD

...But you know, sometimes, I am very silly while playing FE games. I end up sometime choosing characters based on how much I like them. Not how good they are. Like with the Thieves in PoR. Teeeechnically, Volke is better. Even if he DOES go "lol I'mma charge you money for me to OPEN CHESTS AND DOORS". Because hey he can actually promote. Sothe can't. Now, if I had played the Tellius games in order, I.. PROBABLY would have considered using Volke. But no. I decided Sothe would be my Thief for this game, because I adore him in RD. *Facepalms* He's actually fairly decent, but he.. Just doesn't promote. Which sucks. Oh and can't forget in RD how I am BEYOND determined to use Leonardo as my Archer for the end of the game. Despite the fact that he's arguably the worst Archer in the game. ...And despite how much I've been enjoying using Shinon. *Sighs* I don't know how I many to get through these games sometimes, what with all my "yup I'm using the characters that I like not the ones that are inherently better".

Of course it just hit me that mostly no one will understand what I'm saying because I know Azu hasn't played the Tellius games. XD (And I can't exactly remember if anyone I know who's played FE has played the Tellius games. Let alone anyone who's really active on here. Whoops! So I guess I'm just rambling to myself here. XD)
