Did You Know? Things About WoW You May Not Have Known...!

Unread post by Cristiana-Wolf »

Few things about WoW you may have never known! (Er maybe you did.) XD
kk..

#1: Did you know Ironforge once had an elevator that went to Gnomeregan, but was taken away because that would mean one more city for the Alliance than the Horde?

#2: Graphic features are very censored in China on Wow. (If youre an undead then showing bones would be covered up by substitute skin)

#3: WoW isn't very popular in gaming rank in Japan....IN JAPAN.

#4: The most commonly played race is human. WOW.

#5: PvP wasn't added till later after release.

#6: At first, cloaks were invisible. They got implemented as a graphically visible gear piece later.

#7: Only ONE person got the first WoW legendary, and that was Noktyn. Sadly and most unfortunately for him, Blizzard didn't let this player use it later on.

#8:Warlock Felsteed mounts used to be called Nightmares. LOL. (no kidding..)

#9: There used to be NO GUARDS in neutral city. (Lol was probably prone to slaughter fests.)

#10: A feature in one of the test betas, warlocks' footsteps burned into the ground!

#11: One time on the European server for SilverMoon, there was 96% of Alliance faction players and only 4% Horde. (LOLOLOLOL...)

#12: Azeroth once had two moons: one called White Lady and the slightly smaller one named Blue Child. No one knows what happened to this second blue moon, but Ive heard it appears in relativity to a particular quest.

#13: There was and still is *i believe* a pandaren player named Doubleagent that leveled to 60 without ever choosing a faction!

I knew about the graphic features being censored in china and well, t least BG's, I'm sure pvp existed when it came out, but WSG didn't get added till like, the first patch, but holy crap there was an elevator to gnomeregan?? Odd to #3, and really? #4, really? I was truthfully expecting night elves to be there

First off why is this in the Flight Rising forum? O.o

2ndly it's no surprise WoW is not popular in Japan. They've never been that big on western games there. Just look at Xbox sales. They just don't buy gaming things that are not made in Japan.

I once read that the train between stormwind and Ironforge once was supposed to go under an ocean. That's why you can see a Vashjir-like landscape if you take a look to the left or right.

A few Hunter related facts:

In beta Hunters and Rogues could use small shields (the small round ones, the buckler model) this was taken out right before release.

Early on Fain Death would cause Hunters to drop combat not just aggro, so in raid boss fights they could go out of ability/AoE range of the boss FD and drink or eat. This was considered too OP and taken out.

Snake Trap, if placed under another player, would cause them to become PvP flagged.

If pets were not fed they would attack the Hunter then run away.

Serpents were not tamable at 1st. One kind (I forget which one) was mislabeled as a Wind Serpent. Blizzard realized their mistake and made it so you couldn't feed them. People kept them happy by dying in BGs.

Only 1 pet was ever taken away from Hunters, that was a trick tame where a normal white Northrend worg model would turn into an old white worgen model. Hunter's had him for about a week before they took away all his skills and make him unfeedable. When people still kept him they removed him entirely.

Pets had to be leveled so taming a level 20 when you were level 60 was a real pain. (I'm talking to you ghost leopard).

You had to tame specific pets to learn their skills and teach it to your pet. So you could have one Cat with claw and bite and another with prowl and claw.

Pet skills had levels so not only did you have to learn a skill, you had to learn levels of that skill as well.

Only skills on the pet bar would go off even if they were on auto.

Some pets when tamed had no skills at all, only auto attack.

Different named pets of the same kind had different stats (example one type of wolf used to do shadow damage and another had the ability to run down an epic mount).

That's all I can think of right now.

Those would've been Lupis (or something like that) from up in Darkshore and Takk the Leaper from the Barrens.

Lupis was amazing for pvp since, even after he was tamed, all his attacks counted as shadow damage. As a result he could tear up warriors and pallys since his attacks ignored armor.

Takk the leaper, who is now just a shadow of his former self, could run down epic mounts, which was, again, great for pvp, especially world pvp.

Some pets also had different attack speeds. Broken Tooth was popular in pvp because of his 1.0 second attack speed. Those were the days of spell pushback being a big issue and ol BT could be real pain for casters in battlegrounds by making their non-instant spells take forever to cast.

Not Lupis but Lupos ;) Another wolf,Barnabus had something special to but i cant remember what it was.

Mazzranache whas the opposite of Takk. She had a very low run speed.

1.0 attack speed was popular for pve to. Another pet with 1.0 was the ZG bats from the old ZG raid. The rake was a very popular pet because he was the lowest lv with a fast attack speed(i thougt 1.2?) and dont forget King Bangalash. He was the only pet with the skill serpent swifness.

If you tamed Grunter(back then he was black) he had something special had his icoon.

I remember those good ol' days of hunterdom. Ah, taming "trash" pets just to learn the next rank of a skill (and we only had three slots, so two perma-pets and one trash slot), some pets having nothing besides...what, growl and an auto-attack? Haha. Caster stats, fast pets, slow pets, pets with fast hit, pets with slow hit, having to feed them to keep them happy so they wouldn't leave, having to look high and low for a fungus vendor to feed your friggin' gorilla or bat or whatever it was (probably both). Yep. It may sound like a pain, but I think that's what drew me to the hunter class so much to begin with. You didn't just go tame a pet and done. You had to RAISE that thing, painstakingly sometimes. It was a labor of love, though, and when your pet became your "Best Friend", you knew you did well. I think that's what helped me solidify my bond with Tetsusaiga. I had him from level 16 on, and I had to stay on top of training him and feeding him and being the best huntress for him that I could be. Those days were awesome. Well, I suppose that also depends on who you ask. I'm sure a lot of folks now would rightfully think that's an awful lot of work, especially when there are 50(?) slots.

I miss the variety you had with all the differences in pets. When not everything was just appearance but also life-depending. I remember taming Humar and he had prowl (or was it that he could dash? I forgot, but he was awesome in pvp) and everyone asked me where I got this neat lion. My Orc's Durotar tiger Arod, he became his best friend. I never ever could release this pet because of all the adventures they have been through. I miss having to feed my pet to keep it happy. I always carried around one bag of food for my pets. What I really don't miss is having to level up each pet. I was so relieved when they made them autolevel to 3 levels behind your hunter so you only had 3 levels left. But it was nice to train your pet these last 3 levels.

Yeah, having to keep that 3rd stable slot for pet training was a pain. Actually learning the skill could be too, sometimes. I remember going out to Westfall to tame one of the buzzard type birds out there so I could learn the next rank of swoop or claw or whatever. I must've had that bird kill at least a dozen of his colleagues before I finally learned the new skill for one of my 'real' pets.

I was happy when pets autoleveled to within a few levels of the hunter. Getting those last levels wasn't too bad. In Cata, it was actually kind of useful. I'd go to Tol Barad and bring whatever pet was next in line for leveling. It was a good excuse to do the dailies and do a heck of a lot of skinning.

While we didn't have challenge tames back in the old days, some of the tames could be danged challenging. Lupos could really tear you up if you were at or near his level. I remember camping for him and on my first attempt at taming, an Alliance paladin rode up, watched a bit, then killed Lupos. She thought she was saving me from getting killed. She realized her mistake right away and sent me an apology via a horde alt.

I also remember the multiple deaths involved in getting my level 12 Tauren hunter out to Teldrassil to tame one of the owls out there. Man, that was a pain.

Eh, I suppose to me, taming a low level pet wasn't that big of a deal because I do it all the time in Pokemon. I often go back because I change my mind on what nature I want or whatever, and have to grind it all the way back up to a decent level. However, I will say that I didn't mind so much when they leveled to three below. Wasn't it five below initially, then it got changed to three? Or am I losing my mind? :P

Ah, the nostalgia. :)
I remember having a level 10 night elf on a PvP server, and going all the way to Mulgore to tame The Rake. I can say that I died a lot of times. Guards, and level ?? horde players. But it was all worth it. :)

I'll be waiting on the highland, with its wonderful serenity.
Where the stars glow and the brooks flow, that's my way of life.
When the mountains on the highland, and the nature is surrounding me, when the wind blows, that's all I need.

Yeah, and one thing is that Feign Death originally belonged to warlocks and priests before becoming a hunter ability too.
